Costa Rica, Summer of 2016 - Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary
First it entered my nose. The sweet perfume of hibiscus mingled with blades of grass and earthy clay. Then it spread across my face as the wind kissed my skin and seeped into my pores. I heard it in the crashing waves of the ocean, in the howls of the monkeys in the jungle, among the singing cicadas and the squawking macaws. I felt embraced by the infinetely mysterious energy of the earth. I felt Costa Rica.
This summer I have lived a magical experience in Costa Rica. I travelled around this marvellous country and ended up my trip volunteering for a month at Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary (
I couldn't express in words what I have felt while being there and helping the animals alongside with other amazing people I have met, so here's a video for all of you to see it with your own eyes.
Moreover, I would like to thank all the people that works there, day by day, making those animals' life and the world itself a little better. I also ecourage all of you to volunteer. It doesn't matter where, just do it and enjoy the experience!
Hope you enjoy it!

Wildlife Sanctuary at Villas Alturas in Costa Rica
The first part of the tour of the wildlife sanctuary. You get to hear all of the poor animals plights that have found their way to the sanctuary. Listen to Mike Graeber talk about the birds here and you can tell the passion in his voice - he is a true animal rights advocate - and a pretty darn good storyteller and tour guide. Great sanctuary and a beautiful sight alongside the resort we stayed at Villas Alturas. Find out more at

The Lattice House Wildlife Reserve Vacation Destination Dominical Costa Rica
Reserva de Achiote is home to many small animals, reptiles, and interesting insects. Our orchards provide food and the reserve a safe haven for them to live undisturbed.
On any given day, you may see (and hear) howler, white-face, and spider monkeys; coaties, tayras, and agouties. There are sloths, but good luck spotting them—their
camouflage makes them almost impossible to see even when you are staring right at them! Spotting the more elusive animals and watching the monkeys moving through the trees provides endless entertainment at Lattice House.

This is a really freaky spider I found in Dominical, Costa Rica. I actually ran into his / her web while trying to film leaf cutter ants! I'm not even afraid of spiders, but geez! She ran down super fast to... say hello? I think they are called Glowing Orb Spiders?
