Scandinavian fonctionalist heritage in Viipuri (now Vyborg, Russia). Viipuri City Library, built by Alvar Aalto in 1935, a few years before Carelia was taken over by Soviet Union and Viipuri empted of its Finnish population. MFA Friday Clip: Finnish Architecture 2016 – Restoration of Viipuri Library
The Biennial Reviews of Finnish Architecture are arranged every two years (by MFA, SAFA and Alvar Aalto Foundation), scouting and exhibiting the very best of Finnish contemporary architecture.
Viipuri Library is Alvar Aalto's masterpiece from the 1930s, located in Russian Federation and holding great value as a heritage monument. However, the building suffered damage during World War II and the following decades, but With the help of Aalto's original plan, many of the original structural solutions, materials and details could be restored to their former glory. In the video, architect Tapani Mustonen tells about the long project, having started already in 1991 and subsisting with little funding in its early years.

В Выборгской библиотеке Алвара Ааалто - выставка картин Владимира Репецкого.
Казалось бы, можно ли писать без рук, практически без зрения? Оказывается, можно, если пишешь своим сердцем.
Когда Владимиру было 6 лет, он играл с друзьями в прятки. И спрятался в трансформаторной будке. Начиналась гроза и в будку ударила молния. Мальчик получил страшные ожоги, но выжил. Перенес множество операций, но не потерял волю к жизни. Но и дальше несчастья не оставляли. Когда ему исполнилось девять, умер самый близкий человек, поддерживающий его в пробудившемся интересе к рисованию - его мама.
Сегодня Владимиру Репецкому 30 лет. Он живет в небольшом поселке под Петербургом. У него любящая и любимая жена. И его рисунки полны света и радости.

This building is located in Vyborg city center, close to the library designed by the Finnish architect, Alvar Aalto. This building probably used to have an elevator in it (maybe KONE?), but it has been abandoned decades ago, unfortunately.
