Reykjavik Iceland December 2018
Visited Iceland for four days in December 2018. Iceland is such a beautiful place not only for it's breathe-taking landscapes and massive waterfalls but the culture within the small town of Reykjavik is one I will always remember.
In December Iceland has approximately 4 hours of sunlight, reducing by 3 minutes each day until the winter solstice on December 21st, you will find that a lot of the footage is in the dark. However, don't let this stop you visiting Iceland in December. This Vlog includes the iconic Blue Lagoon tour and some of the Golden Circle, as well as some of the Christmas traditions we found throughout our time.
If you would like more information about our time in Iceland and some tips if you are planning a visit you will find a link to my blog below.
13 Hidden Secrets & Best Places in Reykjavik - Travel Guide Iceland
Ultimate 13 hidden secrets, things to do and best places to visit in Reykjavik. My travel guide is loaded with tips for Iceland which I carefully selected. You won't believe number #7 -- Can we make it to 1,000 LIKES? ---
Complete list:
Trust me, Iceland has a lot more to offer besides natural beauty and breathtaking scenery.
The best time to visit Iceland is either in early February to see the Northern Lights or mid-summer for the Icelandic music festivals.
1. Start off at Cafe Loki and try their incredible Icelandic lamp soup, herring sandwich and rye bread ice cream.
2. Hallgrimskirkja, the famous church in Reykjavik, known for its unique architecture and mesmerizing view of the city.
3. Harpa, the unique concert and event venue, known for its futuristic design and enjoys the best acoustics in the world.
4. Kolaportid Flea Market, get yourself a warm Icelandic sweater or other odd Icelandic products.
5. Hakarl, rotten shark which you can purchase at the Flea Market. The most horrid food in the world, the shark is buried in the soil for months and rot in its own juices in order to acquire this strange local delicacy.
6. Seabaron, hidden secret in the Reykjavik harbor where you can try the controversial Whale Steak and world's best lobster soup.
7. Svio, aka Icelandic Sheep's Head. An odd dish that can be ordered at certain local restaurants or at the BSI drive-thru. Creep out your friends by going all out by trying the tongue, nose and eye.
8. Northern Lights, its hit or miss with this event, best time to go is early February.
9. Blue Lagoon, nowadays not a hidden secret anymore, but a spot that cannot be missed. This incredible place is one of the wonders of the world and is world's biggest geothermal spa.
10. Pylsur Hot Dog at Baejarins Beztu Pylsur, the most famous in Reykjavik, you can expect long lines.
BONUS: Vegamot Restaurant, one of the better restaurants in Reykjavik.
11. Reykjavik Nightlife, visit Austur, the best nightclub in town. Make sure to contact my friends at rvkbynight.is and they may be able to hook you up with an exclusive party or message them directly @reykjavikbynight
12. Herring Era Museum, a 4 hour drive north of Reykjavik where you can try the true authentic Icelandic herring.
13. Icelandic Phallological Museum, perhaps the most bizarre museum in Iceland.

Sægreifinn (Sea Baron) Restaurant Reykjavík Iceland
In one of the old green fisherman´s huts down by the harbour in Reykjavík, you will find one of the most famous fish restaurants in the country. The owner is a retired fisherman who owns the fish shop next door and therefore always provides the freshest fish for his courses. He is famous for example for his lobster soup not just in Iceland but around the world.

Summer in Iceland is extremely beautiful, especially when you see it lit up by the sun. Sunlight hours during the summertime in Iceland are the opposite of wintertime. Summer solstice is when the sunlight hours are at their maximum. The brightest months are May, June and July each year. During this time the nature attracts a lot of photographers, either professional or general tourists. There are many travel tours you can go on. Seeing the sunset surrounded by beautiful nature is something everyone should try. You can get some amazing photos in this scenery. The midnight sun at it’s best is a great photo subject and can produce some very interesting pictures. Almost with any camera. You don’t have to have some really good camera. It doesn’t even need any filter, cause the original is already the best one. Because of the brightness and often good weather, there are many outdoor activities that tourists can participate in. On their own or as part of scheduled tours. Concerts, celebration parades, travelling around Iceland are the most popular ones. If you want to party all night long with natural daylight on, you should not miss coming to Iceland during the summertime. Winter is also great but with its nordic style, Iceland will give you a different experiences than any other country. And please, don’t worry you won’t be able to fall asleep with all that daylight during the middle of night, just enjoy the moment. It almost feels like you are not in reality, unreal. Travellers coming from Alaska, Norway, Sweden, Russia, Finland or even Greenland might have experienced the midnight sun, those countries have it as well in selected areas and times. But we like to think Reykjavik Iceland has some special atmosphere anyone should experience.
