East Sooke Park Aylard Farm & Crekye Point
The trail leading to Creyke point is well-groomed and scenic. There is a drop off along the coastal shelf with a pebbly beach down below. Off the coast is Juan de Fuca Strait and the Olympic Mountains of Washington State.
This is one of the easiest hikes in East Sooke Park and takes only 40 minutes to complete. This park is located 20 minutes outside of Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island and only 10 minutes away from Comfort Cove Cottage.
The climb to the top of Creyke Point may be slippery when wet, but running shoes are more than sufficient to provide comfort and traction.

Aylard Farm, East Sooke Park Beach
The pocket beach at Aylard Farm in East Sooke Park is usually deserted in the evening. On this night, the fog was rolling in on the Juan de Fuca Strait and obscured the view of the Olympic Mountains in Washington State.
This is one of the easiest hikes in East Sooke Park and takes only 40 minutes to complete. This park is located 20 minutes outside of Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island.
Goodrich Islands in the Sooke Basin, Sooke, BC
We went around the Sooke Basin in our Zodiac and zipped across to the Goodrich Islands. We learned that these islands are considered sacred by the local T'souke natives so we didn't set forth on them. The tide was high so we didn't have to worry about bottoming out.
The beaches near Sooke, BC in one day
We visit as many beaches as we can in one day, and take lots of aerial drone footage and time-lap shots. Located from Sooke to Shirley near Victoria B.C.
Some of the beaches we made it to were China Beach, French Beach, Sandcut Beach, Jordon river Mystic Beach and Aylard Farm

Sooke BC Coast Trail Hiking
Sooke is a magical place on the West Coast of British Columbia. The Coast Trail is the best hike in the area as it hugs the coastline for many kilometers. If you park one car at the end of the trail and another car at the starting point trailhead, then you can hike for 3-5 hours along the coastline in one way and make a great day hike out of it!

The Harmless Home, Unique Eco Home in East Sooke by Arno Keinonen
Part of the Creating Resilient Green Built Neighbourhoods event hosted by Creatively United on Earth Day, 2019.
How would you like to feel and live guilt free by having an eco footprint that our one earth can sustain? Harmless Home owner, Arno Keinonen, has an eco footprint 15x less than that of the average person. Arno comes from a Finnish family of pioneers. His own father, a civil engineer, warned of climate change in the 1970’s and Arno saw first hand in his 30 year career as a naval architect, specializing in icebreaker design, the alarming disappearance of Arctic ice, of which, nearly 40% of the volume of the polar ice pack had vanished during his career alone.
The impact of what he saw, led him on a mission to lead by example and reduce his carbon footprint and divest of oil in all areas of his and his wife, Linda’s life. He loves to show others how they too can lower their eco footprint and costs, while producing their own energy, food, and water. Named the Harmless Home, the Keinonen’s carbon neutral East Sooke home features revolutionary, Canadian-made technology.

East Sooke regional park and two years of sobriety
I go out for a little stroll around east sooke regional park in the search of some petroglyphs which I found. I also talk about my two years of sobriety. both have been a bit rocky and both have been well worth the journey. I tell a story of one of my drunken antics when i was travelling in Australia good times mostly.
Sooke Hills Wilderness trail
This trail closes the gap between the TC trail at Shawnigan Lake and the Galloping Goose.
Called the Sooke Hills Wilderness trail, as you will see, it has brutal climbs but sweet descents. As a multi-use trail it is shared by hikers and bikers.
