Visit Okinawa Japan -Winter /long ver.
Learn more about Okinawa :
Okinawa Prefecture forms the southwestern tip of Japan. It is comprised of 160 islands and has a population of approximately 1.4 million. Okinawa is located along the similar latitude as Hawaii, Miami, Cancun and other popular world resort areas. Due to the subtropical oceanic climate, it is warm even in winter, with an annual average temperature of approximately 23°C and water temperature of around 25°C.
With the earliest sakura blooming season in Japan, hanami is a winter activity in Okinawa. Favourite sites like Mount Yaedake, Nago central park, and the Nakijin castle ruins will not fail to amaze you with their vivid colors.
The Ocean Expo Park featuring the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is a must and displays one of the rare specimens of whale sharks in captivity.
Winter is also the best season for whale watching with a very high encounter chance with the majestic humpback whales.
Scuba divers will make sure not to miss the thousands of hammerhead sharks gathering off the coasts of Yonaguni island.
For visitors looking forward to relax and reenergize, a hop to the remarkable yet lesser known Motobu hot springs will deliver the sought after revitalization.

Puffer Fish Creates This Blue Water Art ~: }
This video is for educational purposes !Quick example of the beauty we can find in those BBC-Earth new documentaries. The amazing little puffer fish capable of creating elaborately designed 'crop circles' at the bottom of the ocean as part of an elaborate mating ritual. The behavior was first documented by a photographer named Yoji Ookata who later returned with a film crew from the Japanese nature show NHK which later aired an episode about the fish. Even as articles bounced around the web it was still difficult to imagine how a tiny fish could create such a large design in the sand, even when staring directly at photographic evidence. Finally, video has emerged that shows just how the little guy delicately traverses the sand in a rotating criss-cross pattern to create a sort of subaquatic spirograph. The textured sand sculpture not only attracts mates but also serves as protection when the fish pair and lays eggs.

GROUP LAUNCHED TO PROMOTE JAPANESE FOOD IN US
Japanese food wholesalers and restaurateurs in the United States have clubbed together to boost business.
Representatives from about 60 concerns gathered in Los Angeles on Wednesday to launch an association aimed at expanding the market.
The Japan External Trade Organization, or JETRO, sponsored the initiative.
The Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles Jun Niimi said there is still plenty of room to promote Japanese cuisine in the United States.
JETRO officials briefed participants about new restrictions on imports.
One wholesaler said he wants to improve his understanding of regulations in order to increase market penetration.
Association members plan to hold regular meetings to share information and organize promotions.
Japanese food is popular in urban centers like New York City and Los Angeles. But Japanese restaurants elsewhere in the country are scarce.

RESIDENTS WIN RADIATION UNCERTAINTY COMPENSATION
A group of nuclear accident evacuees in Fukushima has won a compensation settlement decision from a state-backed legal arbitration body for radiation exposure and future health uncertainties.
The Nuclear Damage Claim Dispute Resolution Center decided to recommend that Tokyo Electric Power Company pay damages to about 180 former residents of the Nagadoro District in Iitate Village.
Nagadoro is near the Fukushima nuclear plant where radiation levels remain high. It is the only district in Iitate that the government declared uninhabitable over the long term.
An evacuation order for the area was issued more than a month after the accident on March 11th, 2011.
The arbitrators accepted the residents' claim of fear and anxiety as they had lived without any protection against high radiation doses because of their delayed evacuation.
It was decided that TEPCO should pay about 10,000 dollars each to pregnant women and to those who are 18 years old or younger. The other residents would receive 5,000 dollars each.
The residents had already received compensation for having to evacuate, but the amount did not cover health anxieties.
The lawyers representing the residents said this is the first time for health anxiety compensation to be granted.
The district's chief administrator says the momentum is moving in the right direction. A TEPCO official says the utility will study the recommendation in detail.

REPORT: NUCLEAR IMPACT IS TOP ENVIRONMENT ISSUE
A government report says the impact of the Fukushima nuclear accident in 2011 remains serious and that concern over decontamination and radiation exposure should be immediately addressed.
This year's annual report on the environment was approved at a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
The report prioritizes reconstruction from the March 11th quake and tsunami and the nuclear accident they triggered.
It says large amounts of radioactive substances remain in the living environment more than 2 years since the accident. It calls decontamination of the affected areas a pressing issue.
It admits that government efforts so far have failed to dispel fears over possible low-dosage exposure. It urges the administration to seek dialogue with concerned citizens instead of offering information unilaterally.
The report stops short of discussing nuclear power generation in terms of tackling global warming. Before the 2011 accident, the government's environmental report promoted the use of nuclear energy.
The report also suggests Japan shift away from assessing affluence exclusively with GDP figures.
It says that values appear to be changing in Japan since the disaster and that the nation should adopt comprehensive criteria to assess affluence from economic, social and environmental aspects.
Environment Minister Nobuteru Ishihara said the report cites efforts to build a sustainable society, while rebuilding from the disaster. He said he hopes it will help more people consider how to hand over a truly affluent society to younger generations.
