JapanVLOG.22 AMANOHASHIDATE AND MIYAZU YAWARABI
After meeting up with friends in the Kansai area, I spent the weekend exploring Kyoto by bicycle, visiting Amanohashidate (one of the Three Views of Japan 日本三景), and strolling down lantern-lined streets of Miyazu's Yawarabi Festival.

Amanohashidate (天橋立) is a pine covered sandbar that spans the mouth of Miyazu Bay in the scenic, coastal region of northern Kyoto Prefecture. Viewed from the mountains at either end of the bay, the Amanohashidate Sandbar (which roughly translates to bridge in heaven) looks like a pathway between heaven and earth. The scene has been admired for centuries and is ranked among Japan's three most scenic views.
Several other attractions can be explored on foot or by rental bicycle at either end of the sandbar. They include a couple of temples, a shrine, a small amusement park and observation decks from which to enjoy the view. Visitors can further take sightseeing cruises around the bay or enjoy the sand beaches along the sandbar.

Nariaiji Temple is a temple of the Shingon sect of Japanese Buddhism. The temple was first located near the top of Mount Tsuzumigatake, a lot higher up than the current location, before a landslide occurred about 250 years ago. Then, it was moved to its current location further down the mountain. The current temple grounds are still high enough on the slope to afford some nice views over the bay below. But it takes a little bit of effort to reach the temple.
Nariaiji Temple is one of the 33 temples of the Kansai Kannon Pilgrimage in Western Japan. Appropriately, the temple's main object of worship is a carved wooden statue of Kannon, the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy, dating from the Heian Period.
There is a small wooden bell tower that features the bell of neutralitybelow the main hall. The bell is completely encased in its tower and has never been struck because of the sad legend about its origins concerning a baby that was accidentally dropped into the molten metal to be cast into the bell.

Toddler in Japan: Amanohashidate by bike, lift and speed boat (Day 11)
We took our nearly 3 year old on her first international trip to Japan.
Today's destination is the Amanohashidate land bridge in Miyazu. Ride a lift up the mountain to view the land bridge, then head back down to ride bikes across, and then finally take a speed boat back. We end the day with a soak in an onsen and a Kaiseki dinner.
This is a part of an epic 14 day trip through Japan, with an ecstatic toddler in tow.

We can have admired Amanohashidate by cruise boat at the jetty near Chionji Temple in the south to Motoise Kono Temple Shrine in the north. The cruise boat trip takes about 15 minutes every half hourly to reached the other side of the bay. Visitors can be sightseeing around the bay with beautifully lust green pine trees lined around the bay and enjoy the whitish sandy beaches along the sandbar. There are lot of seagulls flying alongside with the cruise boat. You can feed these seagulls. They fly close and take food from tourist hand. They are awful and with a sensational touch to your visit. A very rare opportunity and an unforgettable experience.

yosano kofun park
This park is unique with two major Kofun period (about 250-538 A.D.) grand burial mounds from the 4th century; the Ebisu-yama Kofun and the Tsukuri-yama Kofun. Both of them are so-called “zenpou-kouen-fun” or “(old-style) keyhole shaped burial mound,” a very unique shape for burial mounds found only in Japan and in southernmost of Korean Peninsula.
As the park is right on the mountain side along National Highway 176 in the Akeshi district of the town of Yosano, the access is very easy. It’s about 20-25 minutes from the Amanohashidate area to the south and about 35-40 minutes from the city centre of Fukuchiyama by car.
In the complex are the interpretation centre, the burial mounds and an old farm house moved from the Kayaoku district of the town of Yosano.
After the digging and research works were completed, the burial mounds were restored to the original condition with reproduced earthenware and they are visible to visitors.
