Amanohashidate
Amanohashidate is one of the three most beautiful scenic spots in all of Japan. Located in northern Kyoto prefecture, it is a comfortable and scenic 120 minute ride from Kyoto station or 60 minutes from Maizuru International Cruise Ship Terminal. If you look at it upside down between your legs, you can visualize the sand spit being the bridge to heaven.

This trip was actually a study tour organized by our graduate school and was a part of the requirements of a certain class.
It was a two-day trip from July 8-9, 2018.
Some info about Ayabe City and Amanohashidate
- Ayabe is situated in the mountains of Northern Kyoto Prefecture. You can get there by train from Kyoto station or by car in an hour and a half. (wiki)
- Amanohashidate (天橋立) is one of Japan's three scenic views. The sandbar is located in Miyazu Bay in northern Kyoto Prefecture. It forms part of the Tango-Amanohashidate-Ōeyama Quasi-National Park. (wiki)
These two places are not really part of the mainstream Kyoto tourist spots because they are located quite far from the city center. They are perfect for a two-day trip and the views are second to none!

Labour Thanksgiving Day (November 23)
This video is about Japanese Traditional Craftsmanship and Kitchenware.
Last week Friday we had Labour Thanksgiving Day (November 23). The original name is niiname-sai harvest festival. It was a Friday and we left already on Thursday mid day because we feared driving through Tokyo Thursday evening might be too much.
My husband is deeply connected with his family and whenever we can, we will visit his family in Echigo-Yuzawa. So we went there and as usual had a great time. From there we took a day trip to Tsubame Sanjo. It took us approx. 1.5 hours with the car.
Tsubame Sanjo is famous for Japanese Traditional Craftsmanship, especially Metal and Kitchenware.
So this video is basically a window shopping guide to this area and if you do not have the chance to go to Niigata, at least you can see what they have. Or if you want to go to Niigata, you get an idea from this video to visit this place.
Maybe a travel idea.

The astonishing land-water space created by 230 Funayas(boat houses), circle along the Ine Bay shoreline, can only be seen hear at Ine.
The whole Funayas seem to be floating on the high tide, looking like row houses on the water.

Kyoto's Newest Starbucks is in a 100-Year-Old Japanese House
Starbucks recently opened its latest location in Kyoto, and it's unlike any other in the world. Located in a 100-year-old Japanese house in a traditional section of the city, it features a full Starbucks bar on the lower floor and tatami-mat rooms on the upper floor. Aesthetically, it remains true to its origins, with a traditional noren curtain hanging at the entrance, wood walls and trim, and Japanese lanterns.
Starbucks has a long and successful history in Japan. In 1996 it opened its first store outside the U.S. in the Japanese capital. Even now, its single busiest and top-selling location is located at Tokyo's bustling Shibuya crossing. Recently it has opened Starbucks Reserve Bars in key locations in Japan, such as Ginza and Roppongi. Yosano Town formed in 2006, combining three towns, Kaya; Iwataki and Nodagawa. It is quite rural, with a population of around 23,000. It has some very unique and beautiful charms and some absolutely fantastic people. I hope this video captures that, as well as the sheer fun that being an ALT can be. Larry has certainly had a great time so far!

[V0122]からの続きです。丹後（たんご）半島西岸で宮津（みやづ）市に突入してしばらく進むと、車両進入禁止の標識が現れた並木道が現れました。日本三景のひとつである天橋立（あまのはしだて）です。天橋立を高い所から撮影しようと、成相寺の鼓ヶ岳へと登り、股覗き台の隣から宮津湾とともに天橋立を一望しました。撮影が2004-05-01のメーデーであったため、宮津市街でメーデーデモ行進に巻き込まれてしまいました。 ぜひ、絶景眺望走行動画など、ドライブ気分に浸って頂き、満喫頂ければと思います。
