For this second installment, we walk the land bridge that connects the two mainlands across Miyazu Bay in Amanohashidate. We experience snow on the beach. We watch the sunset. 京都府の天橋立は、宮城県の松島と広島県の宮島と共に日本三景の一つである。宮津湾に伸びる全長約3.6kmの砂洲のことで、多くの松が並ぶ。天橋立という名は、傘松公園から股のぞきで逆さに見える砂州があたかも天に架かる橋のようにみえることから名付けられた
Amanohashidate in Kyoto Prefecture, is one of the three most beautiful scenic spots in Japan, along with Matsushima in Miyagi Prefecture and Miyajima in Hiroshima Prefecture. It is a 3.6-kilometer sandbar stretching along Miyazu Bay, which is lined with numerous pine trees. Amanohashidate, or “the Heavenly Bridge” was named after the upside-down view of this sandbar through the legs from Kasamatsu Park, which appears like a bridge floating up to the air.
