The Tribe Goes To Egypt | Pyramids of Giza and Khan El Khalili
The Tribe Goes To Egypt | Pyramids of Giza and Khan El Khalili
We’re back with Part TWO of our Egypt vlog????????✌????????????
In this clip, we have the tail end of our museum visit then, we jump right into the Giza pyramids and the Sphinx.
It is kind of surreal.
Being able to visit this country but, also learn and understand it’s rich history...mind blown!! Being from the African diaspora (Haiti and Jamaica), we definitely felt a connection. From the images, statues, HAIR...We were at a loss for words!
At the museum, we were shown ancient wigs that are in the style of afro’s and braids. All these years later and I’m rocking the same style! It’s funny when people want to call Black hair styles ghetto, not knowing that these same styles, pre-date history and have been worn by our ancestors.
Our history runs deep!
Fast forward to Giza where the pyramids and Sphinx reside.
When I tell you, we were in AWE of what we saw. We never expected the pyramids to be so BIG! Thankfully, we even got a chance to go inside one! Tight squeeze but, fascinating nonetheless.
Lastly, we headed over to explore Khan El Khalili, a souk that consists of many narrow alleyways and all the shopping your heart can desire!
I (Melissa) was blinded by gold, spices and clothing... my kinda paradise!

The Giza Zoo, Cairo, Egypt; An 80 Acre Zoo in Giza
The Giza Zoo, Cairo, Egypt is among the different things to do in Egypt and the different places to visit.
Every country in the world has a zoo, Giza zoo is the Egyptian version for it and it carry different animals that might be interesting for some people to go see and in some cases even feed. Giza zoo is considered one of the few green areas in the city since it covers about 80 acres.
Giza zoo in Egypt is home to many endangered species and this makes it one of the things in the list of places to visit in Egypt. There are different Egypt tourist attractions that Giza zoo usually comes among but it could be placed at the end just in case you failed to go, you will never be missing on something that is historical and could not be found somewhere else.
A great place for a family day out - we would recommend that you visit early in the day to beat the crowds and bring a picnic with you - so loads of water, juice and snacks!
The amazing thing about the Giza Zoo's history is that it was once known as the best Zoo in the world - if not the 2nd best zoo in the world. Sadly it has fallen down the rankings over time.
Being one of the top things to do in Cairo, we have to mention that it was not just considered the best zoo in the world, but it was the first in other things as well, such as the rare species that have been successfully bred there, like the first California sea lion to be born in the Middle East in 2002.
Giza zoo history is so attracting that it pushes the tourist to go there once his/her leg touch the ground of Egypt. Giza zoo was firstly built by the Khedive Ismail and it was even part of the Harem gardens. Some of the plants which are still living until this very moment were imported from India, Africa, and South Africa, and some of the birds living there were taken from the Khedive's menagerie.
There are some improvements that the ones responsible for this zoo should go through in order to improve the tourism of Egypt and let the tourists put this as part of the list related to the places they want to visit. These improvements include cleaning the place a little bit more, taking more care of the animals living there because they might easily die, and paying good money to the workers in order to let them treat the visitors with good manners.
Taking your food and water with you will always keep you charged to walk through the whole place, which is big, and at the same time manage to take photos with all the animals that are found there and even feed them, which is considered the most interesting thing for the kids.
People are always comparing this Giza zoo to the other ones around the world, which might not be considered fair because countries are different along with their economy and workforce, so people might not be giving all what they have because they might not be receiving what they need. Giza zoo is a beautiful place that is considered historical at the same time and goes back to the 19th century, which means that you will be walking among those trees which are considered older than you are.
Instead of looking at the bad points that might be there, try to enjoy the place with your kids and family, get the chance to see those impressive animals and take the experience of feeding them, and walk through the whole place to enjoy those historical trees that have been planted there since a very long period of time.
Giza is a place that is considered close to different other Egypt attractions, which means that as well as being able to visit the Giza zoo, you could also go further and have a walk by the Nile when you finish and even get the chance to spot other places on your map and see how far is Giza zoo location from other good places to visit.
The Giza Zoo's Location is Charles De Gaulle, Oula, Giza and the cost or prices is around 5 EGP for locals and a little more for tourists.
Being in Giza, Egypt, there are still other things to visit, such as The Pharaonic Village ( visit Cairo Tower ( go to Orman Egypt ( or even go a little bit further and reach The Pyramids of Giza (

Egyptology - Pyramid Construction

The Great Pyramid of Giza, also known as the Pyramid of Khufu, is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza Necropolis bordering what is now El Giza, Egypt. It is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one to remain largely intact. Its sides climb at an angle of slightly less than 52 degrees, rising to a summit of 480 feet. But how did they manage to manoeuvre 2.5 tonne blocks to such an incredible height without the crane or the block and tackle system? It was a challenge to the ancient Egyptians and still remains a mystery to modern archaeologists.

Archaeologists unveil ancient Luxor tomb, open closed coffin for first time
A previously unopened sarcophagus was opened for the first time on Saturday (November 24) as two Egyptian discoveries were unveiled in Luxor's west bank. The intact sarcophagus contained a well preserved mummy of a woman named Thuya and dates to the 18th Egyptian dynasty.
It was discovered earlier this month by a French led mission in the northern region of El-Assasif, along with another anthropoid sarcophagus which was opened and examined.
Earlier in the day a tomb belonging to Thaw Rakht If, the overseer of the mummification shrine, was unveiled along with 1000 small wooden and clay statues, and five coloured masks.
Three-hundred metres of rubble was removed over five months to uncover the tomb, which contains coloured wall scenes depicting the owner and his family. The tomb dates back to the middle-kingdom almost 4000 years ago, but was reused during the alte period.
Ancient Egyptians mummified humans to preserve their bodies for the afterlife, while animal mummies were used as religious offerings. So far Egypt has revealed over a dozen ancient discoveries this year.
Egypt is hoping these discoveries will brighten its image abroad and revive interest among travellers who once flocked to its iconic pharaonic temples and pyramids but who have shunned the country since its 2011 political uprising.
EGYPT: Nile Cruise & Ancient Monuments (Luxor, Aswan, Giza)
Impression of Egypt along the Nile. More videos of the 7-day Nile Cruise:
Egyptian civilization have depended on the river Nile since ancient times. Most of the population and cities of Egypt lie along the Nile valley north of Aswan. Silt deposits from the Nile made the surrounding land fertile because the river overflowed its banks annually. The Ancient Egyptians cultivated and traded wheat, flax, papyrus and other crops around the Nile. The Nile was also a convenient and efficient means of transportation for people and goods. Nearly all the cultural and historical sites of Ancient Egypt are found along river banks.
The Nile was an important part of ancient Egyptian spiritual life and considered to be a causeway from life to death and the afterlife. The east was thought of as a place of birth and growth, and the west was considered the place of death. Thus, all tombs were west of the Nile, because the Egyptians believed that in order to enter the afterlife, they had to be buried on the side that symbolized death.

For more detailed information about each monument see the description of each individual video. Except for:
The Colossi of Memnon (51:16) are two massive stone statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, who reigned in Egypt during the Dynasty XVIII. For the past 3,400 years (since 1350 BC), they have stood in the Theban Necropolis, located west of the River Nile from the modern city of Luxor. Two shorter figures are carved into the front throne alongside his legs: these are his wife Tiye and mother Mutemwiya. The side panels depict the Nile god Hapy.
The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities (55:30), known commonly as the Egyptian Museum, in Cairo-Egypt, is home to an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities. It has 120,000 items, with a representative amount on display, the remainder in storerooms. It houses the world's largest collection of Pharaonic antiquities.
Part of the collection will be moved to the new Grand Egyptian Museum set to open in 2020. It will house Tutankhamun's complete collection of between 4000 and 5000 artefacts, many of which are undergoing restoration and have never been displayed; the vast collection we have viewed at the old museum represents only about a third of the whole. The Grand Egyptian Museum is located on 50 hectares at Giza, two kilometres from the Grand Pyramids. The Egyptian Museum in Cairo will remain open.

Egypt: No tourists - Giza pyramids deserted
Tourism has been on the decline in Egypt for a while, but recent days violent clashes has seen many who make their living off the industry scrambling to find the means to survive in Giza.
At the Giza Pyramids, no foreign tourists were to be seen around noon on Sunday. Inflated prices were being charged at the entrance to make up for the decline in tourist activity. Many employees at Giza simply spent their day riding horses around the premises.
According to Ahmed Hassan, who works at the pyramids giving tours on camels, there are No tourists, the tourists is afraid. He like Egypt but no tourists, no work. We have waiting like more than two months, no work and the camels no food.
The mass uprisings which saw Morsi removed from his post on Wednesday by the Egyptian military, are larger than the 2011 protests which saw Mubarak removed from his position. The interim Prime Minister was announced as Mohamed ElBaradei, a nobel peace prize winner who has close relations with the United States on Saturday. However, the latest reports state that the Salafist party of Egypt blocked the appointment.
EGYPT in 4 Minutes
Egypt = epic.
To call a trip to another country the experience of a lifetime sounds incredibly cliche. And yet, the two months that I spent solo traveling around Egypt were certainly that and more. I cannot even describe how much I loved this amazing place, which quickly became not only my favorite country - but a place that felt like coming home.

I really wanted to use Arabic music for these videos, and tried to put out the word that I was looking for copyright-free Arabic music. However, the music that I was sent was very popular, often top hits in Egypt. Though this is great, I cannot use these songs, as they are not copyright free. YouTube does not allow this - I would get strikes on my channel if I uploaded this music. People have told that it's okay, because the Egyptian artists won't mind, but unfortunately it is more complicated than that - YouTube does not allow it. I was, in the end, sadly unable to find copyright free Arabic music that fit my videos... Maybe next time!

EGYPT: EXPLORING CENTRAL CAIRO: TOP PLACES TO SEE/VISIT, NEGATIVE ASPECTS ☹️
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's walk around the central area of Cairo which is the capital and largest city of Egypt. The city's metropolitan area is the largest in the Middle East and the Arab world, and the 15th-largest in the world, and is associated with ancient Egypt, as the famous Giza pyramid complex and the ancient city of Memphis are located in its geographical area. Located near the Nile Delta, Cairo has a population of 6.76 million spread over 453 square kilometers (175 sq mi), Cairo is by far the largest city in Egypt. An additional 9.5 million inhabitants live in close proximity to the city. Cairo, like many other mega-cities, suffers from high levels of pollution and traffic, as you will see in this video.
Egypt, a country linking northeast Africa with the Middle East, dates to the time of the pharaohs. Millennia-old monuments sit along the fertile Nile River Valley, including Giza's colossal Pyramids and Great Sphinx as well as Luxor's hieroglyph-lined Karnak Temple and Valley of the Kings tombs. The capital, Cairo, is home to Ottoman landmarks like Muhammad Ali Mosque and the Egyptian Museum, a trove of antiquities.

10 Best Places to Visit in Egypt - Travel Video
With a fascinating history that reaches back to the dawn of civilization, Egypt is considered the oldest travel destination on earth. The African nation’s awe-inspiring temples and pyramids have captured the imagination of travelers for thousands of years. Although most people come to Egypt to view its ancient monuments, natural attractions beckon travelers too. The Red Sea coast is known for its coral reefs and beach resorts while a trek through the Sahara can lead visitors to a refreshing oasis. Here’s a look at the best places to visit in Egypt:
The Pharaonic Village in Giza; Museum of Egyptian History
The Pharaonic Village in Giza, the tour in the old living museum of Egyptian history which might not be found in so many other countries around the world.
It is not like any kind of museum in which you enter and see the different old treasures being presented and displayed to the visitors, but it is more like a real show in which the workers act and perform the old Egyptian ways of living, giving the visitors the chance to know about the history of the Pharaohs.
The Pharaonic village in Giza covers the 5,000 years of history which the world is astonished by. After the performances that you get to see while being seated in a boat that moves through the Nile, there is also the replica of Tutankhamun's tomb which features the old treasures as well as the tomb.
Once you set your leg in the yacht that will sail down the canals, you will find yourself looking at the ancient Egyptian history wherever you tend to look. The life in ancient Egyptian time was so different that you will get astonished with the history and the old ways of living that is being presented in front of you through wandering across the canal.
This Nile river island kind of museum is very useful and interesting to school children and a very good idea for trips made by schools or even parents because the kids are not going to read lots of things which they might not understand, but they will watch the Pharaonic era daily activities.
Tourists visiting Egypt will also love the Pharaonic Village because they will get the chance to enjoy the tour with the language they could understand because there are different languages which they could choose from during the tour.
Inside the Pharaonic Village, there are different Egyptian exhibitions which help in transferring the 5,000 years of history and civilization which Egypt has gone through. Some of these exhibitions include Modern Egypt Exhibit, Inventors Museum, Cleopatra's Exhibit, Ancient Arts and Beliefs, Boats of Ancient Egypt, The Pyramids & Sphinx Exhibit, Mummification Exhibit, Inventions Exhibit, as well as some exhibitions for the previous leaders of Egypt.
In addition to these different exhibitions that get people more informed about the ancient Egyptian civilization, there is one important Egyptian exhibition to mention here, which is the one related to Dr. Hassan Ragab, the founder of this village. The Pharaonic village came to life through the mind and effort of Dr. Hassan Ragab. The exhibition of Dr. Ragab shows some photos from different periods of his life and also presents some of his personal items, such as his important Cryptograph and Papyrus Restoration machine.
The Pharaonic Village is located on the West bank of the Nile, on Jacob's Island, Al-Bahr Al-A'zam street, which is about six miles from the center of Cairo, and which will probably not be far away from your hotel if you are planning to stay in the downtown area.
The daily working hours of the village are from 9 AM until 5 PM during the whole year but in summer it stays open until 7 PM, which will give you the chance to visit it during the day without having to run through the other tours you are doing, just make sure not to visit it after 4 because you will then have no time to enjoy the tour and see how the ancient Egyptian people used to live their days and the activities they were involved in; give yourself some time.
The time which you will most probably spend inside the Pharaonic Village will vary between one to three hours and this will depend on the things you want to see inside, so it is better to be ready for three hours in this place just in case. There are tour guides who will be responsible for telling you the story while being on the tour and they are usually professional and friendly, so they will help in making the tour much better, interesting, and easier.
The fee of the tour inside the village will differ according to the program you are going to take, there are different options there and it will also depend on the age; children from 3 to 5, children from 5 to 10, and of course adults. The price will also differ from Egyptians to foreigners but the difference is not huge and the entrance fee in the end is not expensive.
If you are searching for more information about Egypt and the old life in ancient Egypt then visiting the Pharaonic village should always be on your to-do list because it will give you a lot of information about ancient Egypt through the Pharaohs activities and life.
Being in Egypt, you could also visit The Giza Zoo with your kids ( ), you should never miss the chance of visiting The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization ( ), and of course you already know that The Pyramids of Giza are a must ( ) and the Nile will be always around you wherever you tend to go around the area of downtown of Cairo ( ).

Revolution halts tourists visiting Egypt

The recent uprising in Egypt brought political changes to the country, but it has also scared the tourists away.
In February, there were just over 200,000 foreign visitors, while the year before the number was 1.1 million.
With this loss, many businesses are now struggling to cope. And even the finance minister admits that when the tourist industry is hit, the entire economy takes a knock.

Great Pyramid Inn Review Giza, Egypt
The Great Pyramid Inn in Giza, Egypt is one of the greatest places I have ever stayed. The view is incredible and at $60 a night, it cant be beat. This is one of the closest hotels to the pyramids you can get. The staff are very friendly and the rooms are well kept.
