Winter Canadian Cottage Tour
Come join us for Canadian Cottage tour in winter as we showcase the property we rented for a holiday retreat with family at Seeley's Bay nearby Kingston, Ontario. The log cottage was the perfect size for the whole family as it comfortably fit 8 adults including Audrey's Mom and Dad, two sisters, family friend, brother inlaw and me. Vacationing there over the Christmas holidays meant we huddled by the wood burning stove for entertainment, conversation, snacks and games. With more rooms than bodies to fill them we all comfortably got our own rooms. Some of our favorite features of this three story cottage included a huge living room, game room (both upstairs and downstairs) an enormous kitchen and picture perfect views from the balcony overlooking the frozen lake. It truly was a winter wonderland escape and the type of vacation we'll hopefully take more in the future.

Winter Canadian Cottage Tour Video Transcript:
Good morning guys. It is -30 below here in Canada and I can feel the insides of my nostrils freezing. I feel like icicles are forming and my lips are freezing so I can't even speak properly. Today we are going to give you guys a cottage tour as part of our winter vacation. A beautiful log cabin so we spending eight nights here out in the forest. We are like 30 minutes north of Kingston and Seeley's Bay. We are by a lake. I'm getting mauled by the dog Togo. The German Shepherd.
This video is going to be the cabin tour because it is a beautiful home. Let's go inside before we freeze, take our layers off and we'll begin the tour. Come along Togo.
We've got my parents hanging out. They are escaping. Sorry we were going. They are running away out the living room. Now they're running away. This is the living area. This is where we've been hanging out every single day. We have this massive fireplace that heats up the whole space. I would say this is probably my favorite part of the house. Like the dog is the smartest one in the house. It ends up sleeping here at night. It just curls up on the blanket right in front of the fireplace.
Then we have this um like open kitchen and dining area. Yep. So we have this massive table like with banquets. We're going to be eight people later this week and it has been perfectly fine.
This looks like an old canoe that has been turned into a wine rack. We went to the LCBO before coming out here and we bought enough wine for what we thought would be 8 days.
We have 2 bedrooms on this floor and double beds in every single room. As you can see basically the whole house is just these massive logs as their walls. It feels so cozy and toasty in here.
We have a giant telescope and a bathroom here on the ground floor. This is 3 levels. There is a basement and there is also an upstairs too.
Let's start with the game room. We've been spending a bit of time up here actually because this place is stalked with board games. We have a collection of like yeah puzzles, monopoly, trivial pursuit. We've been playing games at night.
I forget how many bedrooms there are but it can sleep 10 people. We can fit 10 people. 10 people and that is not like sleeping on the couch or anything like some of these. No you've got your own room your own bed.
Last spot to show you guys is the balcony which probably has two feet of snow. We haven't really been shoveling here. And a dog right in front of us. We'll show you the views. We've got the lake right there. This must be beautiful in the summertime. We also have a barbecue.
So we'll leave you with views, icicles and a few shots of me shoveling the snow. And Togo my dog playing in the snow.
This is part of our Travel in Canada video series showcasing Canadian food, Canadian culture and Canadian cuisine.

Find the key - The illusionist
Montreal, 1st June 1957.
It is finally official. The biggest and most astonishing representation of his life.
The greatest magician the world has ever seen announced months ago that he is preparing the most memorable illusion of all times. This will be “The masterpiece of his career.”
Specialized in disappearances and teleportation, he claimed that he will be able to travel across the ocean to England and back in matter of seconds.
Could this be possible? And if it is, how will he be able to demonstrate it?
… The next day…
“Extra, Extra, Read all about it !!!”
Magician mysteriously disappears during his own show!
British Crown Jewels vanish mysteriously…”
Could there be a link between these two titles?
The famous illusionist is nowhere to be found, the answer could be hidden somewhere in his workshop, in the basement of an old building, however nobody has the courage to investigate. Before his disappearance he left something behind: A CURSE: anyone who dares to enter this room will forever be lost.
Few people who tried, are now missing.
Do you dare to try?

Living in a Tiny House Heated with FREE Solar Power in Canada
Gabriel Parent-Leblanc heats his tiny house with an awesome solar air heater. He built his tiny house to prove it was possible to live in a tiny house year round in a northern climate. Not only did he succeed (he's been living in it for almost 2 years) but he also has one of the smallest heating bills I've ever seen. In the winter of 2014/2015, which was one of the coldest in the last 100 years, he spent only $100 on heat thanks to his solar air heater panel which provided the bulk of his heat during the day.
Gabriel built his own tiny house with the help of friends and also started the first tiny house company in Quebec, Canada: Habitations MicroÉvolution:
The solar air heater he uses is distributed by EcoSolaris and they're planning to release a new and improved model very soon (we filmed a video about it for you, coming soon!):
At night, Gabriel uses an electric heater that is plugged into an energy meter to track how much energy he uses for heat. This isn't the exact meter he used but it was something like this:
His tiny house design was focussed on creating a spacious and comfortable living room with a massive u-shaped sitting area that has the option to put up a table up to make it a dinette, or put down the table to make it an extra bed.
He's also got a galley kitchen, a sleeping loft, storage loft, and small bathroom with a shower and composting toilet.
The fact that Gabriel's house is run almost completely on solar power is pretty impressive. He's got 750 Watts on his roof that power the lights, fridge, water pump, and all of his electrical outlets; and his solar air heating panel provides a lot of his heating needs.
While he is living almost completely off grid in a suburb of Montreal, one thing Gabriel does find challenging is his small water tank. It only holds 100 litres so he often has to re-fill it with a hose. With his metal roof he could probably install a rainwater catchment system to provide some of his water needs.
You can find out more about Gabriel's tiny house business and his workshops here:
