10 Things to do in Hvar, Croatia Travel Guide Video Transcript:
We have finally made it to one of my dream destinations. We're in Hvar, Croatia so and oh my it is beautiful. Today we have blue skies so we're just going to run around like crazy to show you guys Hvar.
As you probably already know, we never start sightseeing without a good meal, so the first item on our list was to find some breakfast. This proved to be a little tricky considering we were visiting during low season, but after a few false starts we settled down at BB Club for shakshuka, omelettes, nutella crepes and cappuccinos.
With bellies full, we were ready explore and our eyes were set on the fortress, which is the focal point when you gaze up from the Old Town.
Reaching the fortress means walking straight uphill, but there are a few scenic stops along the way, including a beautiful park, a seemingly abandoned church, and plenty of lookouts where you can admire the town and the harbour.
After visiting the fort, we came back to the Old Town and decided to go on a little walk along the waterfront. We hadn’t packed any bathing suits and it was too late in the season to go for a swim, but Audrey was set on testing out the turquoise waters.
Continuing our wander through Hvar Town without a particular place or direction in mind, we then came across a medieval Venetian bell tower that we had noticed peeking through the buildings. The bell tower is part of the Ruins of the Dominican Monastery and St. Mark's Church, and while the structure is closed off, it’s still a cool landmark to visit.
We went to KOGO which is located in the main square just footsteps from St. Stephen’s Cathedral. They specialize in pizzas and pastas, and everything was so tasty!
Lastly, to finish up our 1-day tour of Hvar Town, we walked back to the marina, this time heading left in the direction of the Franciscan Monastery, where we were treated to a magical sunset complete with live music.

EXPLORING CROATIA: A tour of the beautiful ISLAND and TOWN of HVAR
SUBSCRIBE: - Hvar, Croatia, a walking tour of the town. Vic Stefanu, vstefanu@yahoo.com. Hvar, a Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea, is best known as a summer resort. Highlights of the port town Hvar include its 13th-century walls, a hilltop fortress and a main square anchored by the Renaissance-era Hvar Cathedral. The island also features beaches such as Dubovica and inland lavender fields. Boat excursions serve the nearby Pakleni Islands, which have secluded beaches and coves.
Croatia is an Eastern European country with a long coastline on the Adriatic Sea. Encompassing more than a thousand islands, it's also crossed by the Dinaric Alps. Its inland capital, Zagreb, is distinguished by its medieval Gornji Grad (Upper Town) and diverse museums. The major coastal city Dubrovnik has massive 16th-century walls encircling an Old Town with Gothic and Renaissance buildings.

St. Stephen’s Catedral: The Cathedral is dedicated to St. Stephen, a pope and martyr, the protector of the Diocese and the city of Hvar. The renaissance bell-tower of the Cathedral and Hvar’s other bell towers (St. Mark, Franciscan and the ruined one of St. Venerande) are considered to be the nicest ones in Dalmatia. Hvar’s Cathedral preserves many valuable items and paintings of famous painters like Stefano Celesti, Palma Junior and the Spanish painter Juan Boschettus, but the most renowned painting is definitely Madonna, an example of the proto-Venetian art and one of the oldest in Dalmatia originating back in 1220.
Hvarska Pjaca (Square of St. Stephen), Cathedral of St. Stephen and episcopal palace, Hvar. If you visit Hvar, all the streets will lead you to Hvarska pjaca (Hvar’s square), the centre of city’s public and social life and the largest square in Dalmatia. The eastern side of the square is surrounded by the Cathedral of St. Stephen that was built on the foundations of an early-Christian church from the 6th century and that acquired its present appearance in the 16th and 17thcentury.
Fortress in Hvar Town: Looming high above the town and lit with a golden glow at night, this medieval castle occupies the site of an ancient Illyrian settlement dating from before 500BC. The views looking down over Hvar and the Pakleni Islands are magnificent, and well worth the trudge up through the old-town streets. Once you clear the town walls it's a gently sloping meander up the tree-shaded hillside to the fortress – or you can drive to the very top.

The Isle of Hvar, Croatia | Travelling Tom | Travel Vlog
We visited Hvar back in June, and wished we’d stayed longer than just one night on the idyllic Croatian island. Whilst we were there we went on the ‘Exploring the Green and Blue Caves’ tour with Hvar Tours (hvartours.com, this isn’t an ad) and spent a whole day out on the speedboat exploring some amazing natural wonders, zooming across Croatian waters and soaking up some summer sun.
Here are some highlights from the tour, as well as our time on the island itself.

EMPTY STREETS & WINE TASTING IN HVAR ISLAND | Stari Grad | Sail Croatia Day 5 & 6 of 8
Hvar is one of the most popular islands in Croatia - in this vlog we travel to Stari Grad Old Town & taste wine at a winery... ⬇ Click 'Show More'
Hvar island in Croatia has a lot more to it than just the bars, winery spots, clubs and restaurants found in the main cruise port. In this vlog we explore Stari Grad, one of/if not the oldest town in Croatia. It's full of tiny streets, but not full of people!
Wine in Croatia is amazing. Trust us. While in Stari Grad we got the chance to taste a lot more Croatian wines at a local winery - an excursion as part of our Sail Croatia trip.
If you're considering visiting Hvar we highly recommend you also consider seeing Stari Grad, it may be small, but it definitely feels a lot more local and Croatian than it's older party brother.
Sail Croatia is known for it's Navigator cruise, it's more tailored towards the party vibe and younger crowds. We were so pleased to hear they also offer multiple other cruises and the Explorer cruise was right up our alley! See here for more details:

HVAR, Croatia - It's all so beautiful.
So far everywhere we've been in Croatia has been stunning. Hvar town is no exception. Come with us on a quick tour as we discover this charming little town on beautiful Hvar Island.

------------------
While Hvar Town doesn’t lay claim to any beaches per se, just a hop across the water lands you on an archipelago that’s full of them. Named the Pakleni Islands, these largely-uninhabited mounds are fringed by secluded sand-and-pebble coves. And that’s not all they have to offer – there’s museums, one of the best nightclubs around and some decent snorkelling, too.
Hvar Town certainly has looks on its side. It’s actually considered to be one of the most beautiful places in Croatia. Its gothic palaces and squares are framed in by 13th-century walls, which slope downwards to the Adriatic Sea’s azure waters. See it from above with a trip to the Spanish Fortress. It’s perched high on a hill overlooking the terracotta rooftops, the marina and the pine-cloaked islets that dot the shores.
St Stephen’s Square is at the town’s centre. This long rectangular plaza was formed when an inlet was filled in and paved over. There’s a cathedral with a tall bell tower at its helm, while street cafes line up either side. Wander south along the bay and you’ll come to the 15th-century Franciscan Monastery – make sure you go inside to get a glimpse of the impressive Last Supper painting in the dining hall.
Top 3 things to do in Hvar:
Kayak tour:
If you want to be more adventurous and enjoy a bit more of the water then you shouldn’t miss the half day guided kayak tour of Hvar island. It will allow you to take in the sun, take in the beauty of the Adriatic Sea’s pleasant blue waters. The route is often shadowed by the tall pine trees, giving a balance of sun and shade. Then, maneuver through the narrow straits and along islands where you can enjoy your lunch on one of the small hidden pebble beaches. While you’re there, have fun swimming and snorkeling.
Wine tasting:
If wine and great food is more of your thing, opt for this wine and gastronomy tour. You’ll visit actual wineries, learn how it is made and appreciate the local wine. In addition, you can sample fresh cheese and meat, prepared from the region as part of your dinner.
Secret village:
Turn left at the orange church on the winding road in Zavala as you descend to the beach, and take the unsealed road 3km until you come to one of Hvar’s prettiest – and least-visited villages – Gromin Dolac. Plenty of gorgeous old stone here with pretty beaches to match. With almost nobody to share with. You definitely need to add this to your things to do in Hvar list.

Ferry from Split to Hvar, Croatia travel vlog Video Transcript:
Well good morning good morning. Good morning guys. Today is a travel day and we're actually it sure is running a little bit late. So let's make this look down at my shoe at the moment. Like I am tying my shoes and we're running out the door. We really don't have a second to spare. Haha. Okay, so basically we're currently in Zadar. Today we're taking the bus to Split and then the ferry to Hvar. We've got a bit of a long connection so that will be great. Maybe we'll do some sightseeing, maybe we'll get some work done but now let's do a quick apartment tour and let's get out of here. Let's do it.
The update is we have arrived here in Split. Yes. And guess what? The bus terminal is right across from the ferry terminal. It couldn't have been any more conveniently located. Yeah. And we weren't sure which bus terminal we were going to get dropped off at because there are two and one of them would have involved a 20 minute walk. Yes. But we are right out on the water. Yep. It is just incredible. And that bus ride that was something spectacular. Like the scenery was just stunning the whole way. It almost felt like we were on a sightseeing trip as opposed to like a normal bus ride. I just couldn't put my camera down so. Yeah, you were filming the whole way.
We've found a little quiet corner here in the ferry terminal. And Sam is making me do math. Yes. So let's talk prices. Bus tickets, we booked them online with Get By Bus and it was 86 Kuna per person which was about 13 US dollars. Yeah, and that was coming from Zadar this morning. Yep. Yeah, Zadar to Split. And then the ferry also booked it online with Jadrolinija and it was 40 Kuna per person which we said was 6 dollars? A little over 6 dollars. Yeah, yeah. So that is pretty good. And something to keep in mind is the bus was what 3.5 hours?
I had my little jaunt around Split. It was wonderful. Like this city is awesome. And you're probably wondering like this is a pretty famous city in Croatia. Yeah, why are we skipping it right now Sam? Why are we skipping it?
The reason being is that we're going to come here next year with my parents. Yes. So in March. We're doing Split and Dubrovnik with them. Yeah, yeah. Exactly. So we're skipping it this time and going to Hvar instead. But uh it certainly looks beautiful and yeah I can't wait to actually properly explore here. Okay, and now time to go find our ferry.
We've arrived! Now it is time to go find our apartment and then go out for dinner to find some pizza and pasta.
Okay guys we picked up some groceries on the way back. Yeah. We are absolutely destroyed. Knackered. Knackered to the next level. So we're going to say goodbye to you from here and yeah thanks for following along on this journey and we can't wait to show you around Hvar. Bye.

A day tour packed with fun, snorkeling at beautiful beaches and inside caves
Hvar's outlaying islands are too gorgeous to be missed
Blue cave, although too touristy, is still beautiful in its unique colour/reflection of sunlight underwater
