LETICIA AMAZON EXPERIENCE (Coya Amazon Tour)
We have spent 3 amazing days in Amazon in Colombia, Peru and Brasil.
Amazon River Trip from Leticia, Colombia
A two-day, one-night tour of the Amazon River and Amazon Rain Forest out of Leticia, Colombia. We found the best affordable deal from a great, English speaking guide named Miguel. We hiked for 6 hours, looked at wildlife, ate with indigenous people, caught alligators, fished and ate piranhas, spotted river dolphins, and played on the beach. One of the best experiences we have ever had.
You can find more information at marriagearoundtheworld.blogspot.com. Also, Miguel's email if you would like to go on a similar tour (again, the most affordable we found) is miguelmendoza34@hotmail.com.

Exploring the Amazon river and lakes
The Zacambu area (rivers and lakes) is considered one of the best places to spot pink and gray dolphins and even swim in close proximity to them. It is also a great place to spot wildlife while navigating the flooded jungle.

Two dirty days aboard an Amazonian cargo boat
YURIMAGUAS - IQUITOS
Two days, one cargo boat, $40usd.
It sounds romantic, right? Two days floating down the Amazon River. Well, it is. Kind of. Keep in mind, this ain't any old boat. It's a bloody cargo boat moving hundreds of Peruvians and all their belongings down river. The toilets and showers use water from the river, which is then flushed back into the waterway. These are seriously basic facilities, so be sure to pack all necessary toiletries and hygiene items.
It ended up being a hassle to get from the coastal cesspool of Mancora to the departure town of Yurimaguas. Four days, three buses and seven collectivos later, I made it to the river and set off on a two-day hammock-filled adventure.
PRO TIP: make sure to bring tupperware if staying in a hammock. The kitchen does not supply utensils or crockery. Also note that the slow boat leaves Yurimaguas for Iquitos every day except Sunday. The boat only leaves when full, so check down at the docks for departure times.

The Ultimate Frontier of the mighty Amazon, spliced between Peru and Brazil - both within walking distance, allowing for the greatest adventure base into the deep jungle. Information on the area is rather sparse, making for an authentic and unpredictable experience - drift downriver to Manaus within a week, upriver to Iquitos within a day, or meander along the remote tributaries of the mystical Rio Yavari in hopes to see the most wildlife ~
