WHITE WATER EXCITEMENT - American River, California
Check out White Water Excitement:
My son & I did an amazing two day White Water Rafting trip in Sacramento, California.
Day 1: The South Fork American River is by far one of the best whitewater rafting rivers in California. The river boasts 50 rapids in 21 miles. This river has plenty of calm, relaxing water, some moderate class 3 rapids surrounded by stunning wilderness scenery.
Day 2: The Middle Fork American River rafting trip is one of California’s premier adventures. Making it’s way through one of the most remote white water canyons in the state, The Middle Fork boasts some of the finest summertime Class III and IV river rafting in California. The river gushes 18 miles through an intensely isolated and deep canyon and is broken up by the many challenging Class III and IV whitewater rapids. Gotta love the intensity and excitement of the Tunnel rapid.

Kayaking South Fork American River Coloma to Greenwood Part 1
My and Garrett's first year kayaking adventures on the South Fork American River. We started in May and now are true addicts. For this video we put in at Marshall Gold Discovery State Park to do the C2G run and the video ends after the first Class 2 rapid, Gremlin. This is our first year kayaking and this is my first video I have edited and put online. Look for more to come and thanks for watching.
Devils Gate North Fork Middle Fork American River
Short guerrilla style video of this fascinating historically significant site from the Goldrush era that provides stunning canyon vistas on the descent to Devil's Gate.
Trailhead is at Deadwood Cemetery via Western States proceeding Southwest. At the first Forest road you encounter go to your left (east). Follow this out onto trail #6. Trail to Devils gate will be on your right (South) in a manzanita grove. Trail to the river is well established and easy to follow.
On your way out on the Forest Road be sure to stop for a cold and refreshing stop at the water-well installed for the Tevis Cup. It is ~1-mile from the deadwood cemetery site and will be on your left (North-West) on your way out. The area has signage with the trail history and a picnic table.

March 13th, 2016
After being in the Placerville, California area for a few days now, I finally got to get on one of the most popular sections of whitewater on the West Coast of the United States - the South Fork American River.
I hooked up with John Kosakowsky of 'River Runners' through fellow riverboarder Liz Arnold Muzzey who introduced us. John was raised in the area and together with his wife Sarah and brother-in-law Kyle we hit the water on a rainy Sunday just after noon.
We started with a 'Shredder' (a small inflatable cataraft), a ducky (IK), and myself on a Riverboard... but pretty soon other paddlers put-in a bit further downstream, and at one point we were floating down with another 3 kayakers and an oar-raft beside us - though they eventually moved on and continued towards the lower section.
The river was flowing around 6,000cfs and the 6 mile stretch took us about 1 hour to run.
The wave-trains were huge and the water was really moving. There were a number of very cool rapids and some good holes along the way, though at this level much of the more common features were said to be flushed out or entirely underwater.
Very cool, very entertaining, pretty continuous run with a lot of action. Definitely a nice stretch of whitewater to have in your backyard.
