The next day we go by Tuk-Tuk from #Amersfoort to Paleis Soestdijk which is freezing cold in January but very big fun!

DierenPark Amersfoort - Jaaroverzicht 2017
Miljoen bezoekers voor DierenPark Amersfoort
Vandaag betrad de miljoenste bezoeker de poorten van DierenPark Amersfoort. “Voor het eerst in de bijna zeventig jaar van het bestaan van ons park, hebben wij 1 miljoen bezoekers in een jaar mogen verwelkomen, een geweldig moment”, aldus Financieel Directeur Henry Elmendorp.
Het is de vierde keer dat het park achtereen een nieuw bezoekersrecord wist te behalen. Dit jaar is voor het eerst de magische grens van een miljoen bezoekers gepasseerd. “Wij zijn erg blij met alle positieve reacties, unieke foto’s en creatieve kleurplaten die wij door het jaar heen hebben gekregen”, zegt Henry Elmendorp. De Amersfoortse dierentuin weet zich te onderscheiden door de kindgerichte koers die onder andere tot uiting komt in de speelse Klim Alles-route. “Via deze route leren kinderen de dieren op een andere manier kennen door met een touwbrug boven beren te klimmen en langs giraffen te varen. Daarnaast dragen onze populaire evenementen in de schoolvakanties eraan bij dat bezoekers terugkomen.”
De Amersfoortse dierentuin is de laatste jaren flink uitgebreid met de komst van Snavelrijk, de Grote Wildernis en het Woud. “Deze zomer hebben wij een nieuw leeuwenverblijf geopend waarin kinderen via een ondergrondse kerker opduiken tussen de leeuwen”, vertelt de Financieel Directeur. “Daarnaast zijn er dit jaar twee olifantje geboren, wat betekent dat er nu vier generaties olifanten in ons park wonen. Dit is uniek in Nederland en wij zien er naar uit de kleintjes samen te zien opgroeien. Kinderen en dieren samen zien (op)groeien, mooier wordt het niet.” DierenPark Amersfoort laat weten ook in het nieuwe jaar de ingeslagen koers voort te zetten.

Rondgang door Dierenpark Amersfoort Review 2016
Review over het toch al Mooie Dierenpark Amersfoort. In dit park staan dieren centraal. Ook zijn er enkele speeltuinen, en verschillende attracties, maar let op niet alles is gratis zoals blijkt uit deze review.
DierenPark Amersfoort is a 19-hectare (47-acre) zoo located on the West side of Amersfoort, in the province of Utrecht, on the edge of the Birkhoven forrest, in the Netherlands.
The zoo was founded on 22 May 1948 by Mr. Tertoolen and Mr. Knoester. Initially it was a very small zoo with a monkey, a bear, a camel and some farm animals. In the years afterwards the first carnivore arrived, and in 1956 the elephants Indra and Rani arrived.
In 1960, Mr. and Mrs. Vis-Tertoolen, one of the zoo founder's daughters and her husband, took over the management of the zoo, and the first of the chimpanzees arrived.
In 1979, 2 white southern white lions were born, but while growing up they became normally colored. In 1982 seven Sudan cheetahs were born. In 1988, the park got a savanna area and De Ark van Amersfoort (Amersfoort's Ark) was opened. The zoo currently has an area of about 14 hectares (35 acres). It is home to more than 100 animal species and hosts about 650,000 visitors annually. Its ridable miniature railway, has a worldwide unique gauge of 340 mm (13 3⁄8 in)

Giraffes in paddock Amersfoort Zoo (Netherlands)

Giraffen (Giraffa camelopardalis) in de stal van Dierenpark Amersfoort.
Op 23 februari 2011 waren er 3 ondersoorten van de giraf in Amersfoort:
- Netgiraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis reticulata)
- Rotschild giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis rothschildi)
- Angola giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis angolensis)
In Dierenpark Amersfoort worden alleen hengsten (mannen) gehouden tot ze volwassen zijn. Daarna verhuizen ze als fokhengst naar andere parken. De samenstelling van de groep veranderd dus regelmatig.
Dit filmpjes is gemaak tijdens een excursie van Stoas Hogeschool Den Bosch, verzorgd door PTC+ dierverzorging Barneveld. Tijdens deze excursie hebben verschillende dierverzorgers allerlei interessante zaken verteld over het onderhouden en verzorgen van Aziatische olifanten, giraffen en Afrikaanse hoefdieren. De ontwerper van de olifantenstal (Stad der Reuzen) heeft tevens verteld met welke technische, zoötechnische en educatieve zaken er rekening is gehouden bij de bouw van de nieuwe stal.
