Mostar & Kravice Waterfalls Tour - Bosnia and Herzegovina - Amico Tours
Day tour from Dubrovnik to Mostar and its old town with the UNESCO-protected famous old bridge. Stops in Počitelj and beautiful Kravice waterfalls.
In this day-tour, the focal point is Mostar. This city had important roles in this region’s historical battles between eastern and western cultures. Its famous bridge symbolically unites the east and the west, while its charming streets tell a story of cultural clashes of the olden days. You will visit the city of Počitelj - a strategic point for the Ottoman Empire, and also have a chance to cool off and swim in untouched nature of beautiful Kravice waterfalls - known as one of Europe’s last jungles.

Montenegro Day Trip from Dubrovnik, Croatia
Set off on a day trip from Dubrovnik to Montenegro.
Get out of Dubrovnik for the day and head south to the diminutive country of Montenegro on this guided tour. Get acquainted with Montenegro’s must-see sights, stopping first in the small town of Perast for a brief tour and to take a ferry to gawk at a Baroque-era church plopped improbably in the middle of the Bay of Kotor. Then arrive in the medieval-walled town of Kotor, home to Europe’s southernmost fjord, for a guided tour and some free time. Return to Dubrovnik in the evening.

5 Days in Dubrovnik, Croatia - Bosnia, Kayaking, Ancient City Walls, Historical and Food Tours!
After my three weeks in the Czech Republic I met up with Julia in Dubrovnik. August in Dubrovnik is the busiest time of year so hotels were expensive! We ended up with an Airbnb that still wasn't cheap, but had an amazing view of everything since we were near the top of the hill overlooking Old Town. The hike up to the top was rough, endless steps, but a great workout.
We packed so much into the short time we were there, a tour to Bosnia and Herzegovina including Pocitelj, Mostar and Kravice Falls with Amico Tours. Then we walked the Ancient City Walls thanks to the Dubrovnik Tourism Board. We kayaked in the ocean right outside of the walls to a cool beach cove where Julia learned a little Crobran martial arts from our tour guide. Check out the link below for more info on Crobran.
We had an Old Town city tour from Filip who was dressed in a traditional outfit, his email is below, contact him he also does a Game of Thrones tour. Finally we had a great food tour with Dubrovnik Food Tours, so much good food and wine.
I think we did quite a bit, considering how crowded it is during peak season. Not bad though, I was expecting worse from what I heard from people about going in August. But it was time to move on to Kotor, we had a 4 hour bus ride to catch right after the food tour.

Dubrovnik to Mostar
After landing less than 24 hours into Dubrovnik from Portland, Oregon, we had an all day tour with Amico Tours to Bosnia and Herzegovina. We got to see the famed Mostar Bridge and Kravica Falls.
We had some guided tours with great guides who were full of information and history about the area, then had some time to free roam around the city as well. We had lunch with a great view of the bridge and went to the falls right after. It was just enough time to digest and take a dip in the falls. The water felt so good in the hot August sun.
Then we came back to Dubrovnik for a late, but still very lively dinner in old town.

Our visit Dubrovnik travel guide covers some of the top attractions including a food guide to local Croatian food, top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day and by night including visiting the old city walls, palaces, cathedrals, island hopping and more. We cover activities you won't find in a typical Dubrovnik tourism brochure, Dubrovnik itinerary or Dubrovnik, Croatia city tour also known as Grad Dubrovnik Hrvatska.
20 Things to do in Dubrovnik, Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript: (Grad Dubrovnik Hrvatska):
Is there a more visually stunning city than Dubrovnik? Nicknamed the Pearl of the Adriatic, this destination is sure to capture your gaze. Between it’s white limestone buildings, bright terracotta rooftops and cobalt blue waters that sparkle under the sunlight you'll be dazzled during your visit. This was the final stop of our travels in Croatia, and what a way to finish of our trip.
We walked up, down, and around the Old Town clocking thousands of steps each day, and in this video we’re going to take you on a tour of of the city and show you 15 things to do in Dubrovnik.
We entered the Old Town through Ploće Gate, which is in the east end of the city strolling along the Old Port. We explored the Old Town on foot visiting Dubrovnik Cathedral, which at one point was even funded by England’s King Richard the Lionheart, after he was saved from a shipwreck on the nearby island of Lokrum.
We wandered over to Gundulić Square where a few vendors had set up for the day to sniff out a few treats. We stopped at Big Onofrio Fountain, which was built in 1438 as part of a water system that supplied water from a spring 12km away.
Then, another attraction unexpectedly caught our attention: The Old Pharmacy at the Franciscan Monastery.
Founded in the year 1317, this in-house pharmacy was set up by Franciscan friars and would go on to service the town as well as people living beyond the walls. There’s still a pharmacy within the monastery today.
We tried to visit the Rector’s Palace, which was built in the late 15th century for the elected rector who governed Dubrovnik, but it was under renovation.
A sightseeing boat tour called the “Panorama Excursion” departed from the Old Port and went out around Lokrum Island.
We decided to eat at Mea Culpa, and ordered one Dalmatian Pizza and one Seafood Pizza.
It was time for the main attraction: walking around Dubrovnik’s Old City walls. Admission is 150 kuna for a 2 kilometres walk that takes about 1 hour to complete.
The first set of walls were built in the 9th century, and then in the 14th century these were strengthened with forts along the circumference. This attraction is worth the price tag. From here you can admire the all of the old town, gaze at the shimmering waters of the Adriatic, and look out to the neighbouring Lokrum.
After that quick ice cream break, we walked over to Fort Lovrijenac, also known as St. Lawrence Fortress.
Perched on a cliff 37 meters above the sea, this fortress dominates sea and land entrances from the western side of the city.
We made a stop at Buza Bar, which is great place for drinks anytime of day, but especially so around sunset. Gradac Park, was also used as one of the Game of Thrones filming locations, so you may recognize it from the Purple Wedding.
That’s a wrap for Dubrovnik and the rest of our time in Croatia! We hope this video gave you ideas of some of the things you can do in Dubrovnik on your own visit.
This is part of our Travel in Croatia video series showcasing Croatian food, Croatian culture and Croatian cuisine.

I'm Moving To Croatia | Life With No Regrets #14
Makarska in Croatia literally took my breath away, I could totally live here!
From the picturesque mountains to the bluest of blue oceans, I was in awe the whole time we spent here.
We had envisioned visiting, Split and Dubrovnik but I must be honest, we were scarred by the drive (OMG took forever) BUT once we arrived in Makarska, we were so taken a back, we fell in love with the place, only venturing out by boat to see the islands of Bol, Jelsa and Hvar, all absolutely beautiful.
If you have ever desired to go to Croatia, put Makarska on your list!

Spectacular Views Of Old Town Dubrovnik Croatia
Croatia is known for its beautiful sea water and pebbly beaches. In this vlog we take you to Dubrovnik Croatia. This city lies in the southern part of Croatia fronting the Adriatic Sea. It's known for its distinctive Old Town, encircled with massive stone walls completed in the 16th century. Its well-preserved buildings range from baroque St. Blaise Church to Renaissance Sponza Palace and Gothic Rector’s Palace, now a history museum. Paved with limestone, the pedestrianized Stradun (or Placa) is lined with shops and restaurants.
We also see the rare mountain donkeys (just kidding). We do see donkeys at the top of a mountain with a spectacular view of Old Town.

Old Bridge Area of the Old City of Mostar
The historic town of Mostar, spanning a deep valley of the Neretva River, developed in the 15th and 16th centuries as an Ottoman frontier town and during the Austro-Hungarian period in the 19th and 20th centuries. Mostar has long been known for its old Turkish houses and Old Bridge, Stari Most, after which it is named. In the 1990s conflict, however, most of the historic town and the Old Bridge, designed by the renowned architect Sinan, was destroyed. The Old Bridge was recently rebuilt and many of the edifices in the Old Town have been restored or rebuilt with the contribution of an international scientific committee established by UNESCO. The Old Bridge area, with its pre-Ottoman, eastern Ottoman, Mediterranean and western European architectural features, is an outstanding example of a multicultural urban settlement. The reconstructed Old Bridge and Old City of Mostar is a symbol of reconciliation, international co-operation and of the coexistence of diverse cultural, ethnic and religious communities.
From Wikipedia
Mostar (Serbo-Croatian pronunciation: [mǒstaːr]) is a city and the administrative center of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Inhabited by 105,797 people, it is the most important city in the Herzegovina region, serving as its cultural and economic capital.
Mostar is situated on the Neretva River and is the fifth-largest city in the country. Mostar was named after the bridge keepers (mostari) who in the medieval times guarded the Stari Most (Old Bridge) over the Neretva. The Old Bridge, built by the Ottomans in the 16th century, is one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's most visited landmarks, and is considered an exemplary piece of Islamic architecture in the Balkans.
From Wikipedia
Human settlements on the river Neretva, between the Hum Hill and the Velež Mountain, have existed since prehistory, as witnessed by discoveries of fortified enceintes and cemeteries. Evidence of Roman occupation was discovered beneath the present town.[5]
As far as medieval Mostar goes, although the Christian basilicas of late antiquity remained in use, few historical sources were preserved and not much is known about this period. The name of Mostar was first mentioned in a document dating from 1474, taking its name from the bridge-keepers (mostari); this refers to the existence of a wooden bridge from the market on the left bank of the river which was used by traders, soldiers, and other travelers. During this time it was also the seat of a kadiluk (district with a regional judge). Since Mostar was on the trade route between the Adriatic and the mineral-rich regions of central Bosnia, the settlement began to spread to the right bank of the river.[5]
Prior to the 1474 the names of two towns appear in medieval historical sources, along with their later medieval territories and properties – the towns of Nebojša and Cimski grad. In the early 15th century the county (župa) of Večenike covered the site of the present-day Mostar along the right bank of the Neretva, including the sites of Zahum, Cim, Ilići, Raštani and Vojno. It was at the center of this area, which in 1408 belonged to Radivojević, that Cim fort was built (prior to 1443). Mostar is indirectly referred to in a 1454 charter of King Alfonso V of Aragon as Pons (bridge), for a bridge had already been built there. Prior to 1444, the Nebojša fort was built on the left bank of the Neretva, which belonged to the late medieval county still known as Večenike or Večerić.[6] The earliest documentary reference to Mostar as a settlement dates from 3 April 1452, when Ragusans wrote to their fellow countrymen in the service of Serbian Despot Đorđe Branković to say that Vladislav Hercegović had turned against his father Stjepan and occupied the town of Blagaj and other places, including “Duo Castelli al ponte de Neretua.”.[7]
In 1468 the region came under Ottoman rule[7] and the urbanization of the settlement began. It was named Köprühisar, meaning fortress at the bridge, at the centre of which was a cluster of 15 houses. Following the unwritten oriental rule, the town was organized into two distinct areas: čaršija, the crafts and commercial centre of the settlement, and mahala or a residential area.[8]
The town was fortified between the years 1520 and 1566, and the wooden bridge was rebuilt in stone.[5] The stone bridge, the Old Bridge (Stari Most), was erected in 1566 on the orders of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent.[9] 28 metres (92 feet) long and 20 metres (66 feet) high, quickly became a wonder in its own time. Later becoming the city's symbol, the Old Bridge was designed by Mimar Hayruddin,[3] a student and apprentice of Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan. In the late 16th century, Köprühisar was one of the towns of the Sanjak of Herzegovina.....

Hitchhiking isn't always very easy and this we experienced by hard last week. It was time to hitchhike a ride for the first time in Croatia. And it turned out to be very difficult. We spent a whole afternoon for just 50 kilometers. We had no other option than spending the night in a little hotel next to the main road. And now it was time to continue.
Again we spent the whole afternoon waiting for a car, we got desperate and we were ready to give up the hitchhiking for that day... Exactly in that moment a car stops!
A German man stopped and offered to bring us until Split. But first he was taking dinner and he invited us to join him. From there on, all our plans changed!

Scopriamo Spalato/Split in Croazia - Tour croato 2 tappa
