This is Amihan sa Dahican in Mati, Davao and their leader, George Plaza explains the dangers of plastic.

The College of Saint Benilde thru the Center for Campus Art presents “Alon!” the exhibit and “ALON,” the documentary. The exhibit, curated by Ar Gerry Torres features six Philippine surf camps, facts about the plastic problem and proposed solutions. The film, directed by Gabby Fernandez features interviews with surfers and tackles the problem from their perspective. Both projects ask: Why is the Philippines the third biggest plastic polluters in the world?

‘ALON’ the documentary premiered last Aug 28, 2019 at the SDA Theater of the School of Design and Arts Campus, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.

Alon!’ the exhibit opened last August 29, 2019 at the 12th Floor Gallery of the School of Design and Arts Building, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and ran from August 20 - Dec 14, 2019. It was open free to the public.

How to get here in Dahican Surf Resort?
Check out this map.
If you are a foreign tourist or a local tourist
from Ninoy Aquino International Airport
ride on a plane, it's 960 kilometers
and it takes 1 hour and 30 minutes
and this is the fastest way to reach Francisco Bangoy
(Davao) International Airport
and from Francisco Bangoy (Davao) International Airport
you'll take a ride in a taxi going to Ecoland Bus Terminal
And then from Ecoland Bus Terminal, you'll take a passenger
bus bound to Mati City, it's 156 kilometers
and it takes 3-4 hours to reach Mati Centennial
Transport Terminal Complex
and from Mati Centennial Transport Terminal Complex the distance
of Distance of Dahican Surf Resort is 12.8 kilometers.

Here is some short history about Dahican.
Dahican is derived from DAHIK, it is a local word used to
described their act of coming in from the sea to nest.
It's differing qualities make Dahican Beach distinctive surrounded
by popular white sand beaches taking part in the country.
Dahican is also a shelter meant
for the endangered marine turtles.
Then at the end of the 7km beach are isolated resorts
intended for individuals who would like a serene getaway

Entrance fee of the resort is 100 pesos and cottage rate
for day tour is 300 pesos
There are also available rooms for overnight.
For the cost of 1000 pesos, Hut, you can have the fan and
shared bathroom and it is good for two persons with free breakfast.
A Hut that cost 1,500 pesos is you can have the fan with a
private bathroom and good for two person with free breakfast also.
At the cost of 1,500 pesos Hut, it has a Air-conditioned with a
private bathroom good for two persons with a free breakfast.
And they have also extra bed
and it costs 350 pesos only.
Things to do here that can enjoy in Dahican is the resort
offer skimboarding as well as surfing lessons.
Take note that when the waves are in season.
For 400 pesos/hour together with a board and surf trainer.

Dahican Beach is a long stretch of pure, fine
white sand and clear water sea.
They are little by little gaining attraction because
of their surfing and skim boarding activities.
You won't have a reason to get bored here for the reason
that even if the waves are flat, you can also free diving
merely in front of the resort.

My trainer for today for the skimboarding
and we will do basic and there two kids here, Bj and Mark
who are the champions in skimboarding here in Dahican Surf Resort
and we will try everything…

So, this is Bj and this Mark, one of the members of
Amihan Boys here in Dahican
They are the king of surf or skimboard
here in the beach of Dahican.
So, now I will do the basic skimboarding but first we will see
the different tricks for months, year which they are studying
And Mark is the overall champion here in the competition
of skimboarding in Dahican
So, applause for the Amihan Boys,
now let's see their tricks.

The most awesome thing that I do here in Mati is when
I took a skimboarding lesson in the Amihan sa Dahican
or also known as the Amihan Boys and also have a girls.
I've tried the skimboarding activity, at first when I just
observed while James demonstrating what should I do.
It looks so easy, but when I actually performs,
it's not easy, it's hard to do.
And it takes time to find your balance
and also to do it gracefully.
But what I can say to the Dahican Boys,
thumbs up for them.

What I am amazed the most here in Dahican Surf Resort
is the style of their surfing board, there is no modern aminities here
or high-end resorts different to other resorts
but you can spend your time here in Dahican.
It is a best vacation place for you family and friends

In 2016, I travelled back to my hometown in the City of Mati. We drove to Dahican beach to surf again with the Ämihan sa Dahican boys. My cousin, Langging, tagged along and took some photos and videos. The swell was not to big at that time, which was perfect for a beginner like me.

How to get here:
1. From Davao City Airport, ride a bus going to Mati (P200) 3-4hrs travel time
2. From Mati Terminal, ride a habal-habal or tricycle to Dahican. tell the driver to drop you off in Amihan sa Dahican (Fare: PHP 50)


How to get to Waniban Island:
The cheapest way is to go to _____nakalimutan ko ung lugar.sorry. pero alam yun ng mga locals sa amihan sa dahican. kelangan mo maghabal habal papunta dun PHP 200 roundtrip..

then magha-hire kayo ng boat sa mga fisherman dun. P1500 rate para makapunta ka sa tatlong islands.

Cheapest to kasi kung magbboat ka from Dahican 6k ang bayad :(
