COPPER MOUNTAIN (Parys Mountain) Amlwch, Anglesey
Also known as the Copper Kingdom the Mountain was mined for Copper Ore in the early Bronze age, and is one of the only sites in Britain where evidence is found for the prehistoric beginnings of the British metal mining industry, and 18th century miners realized they where following in the footsteps of much earlier workers.
Parys Mountain dominated the worlds Copper market in the 1780's when the mine was the biggest in Europe.
Although the Mountain is extremely beautiful with its patchwork of stunning colours, the high level of soil contamination means little life survives there, but there are a number of examples of rare plants and bacteria, and this strange and wonderful landscape as been used in Science fiction film and TV. The area is open to the public and currently free of charge.
Anglesey ... Druids Island
Hello :):):) .
Another visit to one of my favourite places in the UK -Anglesey off the west coast of Wales.
On a beautiful day I was able to capture many parts of this lovely Island Including some of its beautiful coastline and many of the prehistoric sites and monuments scattered which the Island is famous for.
Anglesey has a rich history going back thousands of years right up to recent times with its reputation for copper mining and the site of one of the country’s first nuclear power stations.
Weather permitting, Anglesey is a great place to visit with something new to see every time I go.
Hope you enjoy my pictures. Thank You x :) :) :)
Anglesey’s Parys plans hinge on zinc price
Bill Hooley, chief executive of Anglesey Mining (LON:AYM), says the firm will move forward with its Parys Mountain zinc-copper lead project in north Wales when the price of zinc picks up.
It’s been a bearish year for zinc prices, but Hooley reckons the metal will be one of the first commodities to move upwards, given a deficit of supply brought on by several mine closures.
Parys has been placed on care and maintenance for now but has the potential to be developed quickly, according to the CEO, once the Zinc rout is over.
Anglesey Mining enters significant agreement for Parys Mountain optimisation study
Bill Hooley, chief executive of Anglesey Mining plc (LON:AYM), tells Proactive London's Andrew Scott they've entered into an agreement with QME Mining Technical Services under the terms of which QME will carry out an agreed programme of design, engineering and optimisation studies relating to the future development of the Parys Mountain copper and zinc project in Anglesey.
There will be no cost to Anglesey.
The primary objective is to determine the optimum production plan for Parys Mountain, utilising all available and potential means of accessing both the indicated resources and inferred resources, at various cut-off grades.

Amlwch Port Mynydd Eilian Walk, Anglesey Coastal Path, Anglesey Coastal Walks In Wales, UK
Amlwch Port Mynydd Eilian Walk was about 7 miles in distance. The terrain of this route was a combination coastal, field, hillside and scrubland paths plus some lanes and tracks. The walking was easy on level ground or gentle slopes. Route finding was easy with obvious paths, good waymarking and good landmarks. Some of the inland paths can be very muddy in places. There were 14 stiles to negotiate.

The new Pearl Engine House Chimney at Parys Mountain
March the 2nd 2013, exactly two hundred and forty five years to the day after the first productive lode of copper ore was discovered on the mountain by Roland Pugh. This is a short video of the lighting of the first fire in the magnificent new chimney at the Pearl Engine house, the remains of a Cornish beam engine pump. The original fell down in about 1986, and the Amlwch Industrial Heritage Trust have used Lottery Fund money to build a new one. This is the very first fire in this wonderful structure.
