Bike Hike: Sundbøfjellet in Flåbygd (northwest of Lunde) by bike 1st of June 2017
Short climb: approximately 2 km distance one way
Fairly steep: 310 altitude meters
Start: Leikvoll market garden in Flåbygd@124 masl (Nome municipality)
Top: Sundbøfjellet@434 masl
Ascent: exhausting ride (where possible) – approximately 50 % easy pushing of bike uphill (carrying of bike hardly necessary)
Descent: continuous downhill, fast, not very technical but neither play friendly. A bit hard to see obstacles due to ground cover (heathers covering stones, roots, holes etc. in the trail). On sunny days there is a constant mix of sun and shade.
Conclusion: nice day out and a rather fun descent, although a typical one-timer. The view is limited. Feeling of true wilderness if one continue further into the mountain. Fantastic scenery along Telemarkskanalen.
Wonderings: how is the swim@Trytetjønnane towards northwest (around 2+ km distance from Sundbøfjellet)? Is it possible to reach the descent@Gygrestolen by bike (at least 6+ km distance from Sundbøfjellet towards northwest)?
Take care and pay attention to nature and hikers on the descent. Stop and have a chat.
Strive to ride only under dry conditions and avoid wheel lock to limit wear and tear of the ground.
The area is a bit remote when it comes to injuries and equipment damage.
