Ampleforth College Boys Choir - O lovely peace(Handel)
From Handel's 'Judas Maccabaeus'
The Schola Cantorum of Ampleforth Abbey was established by Cardinal Basil Hume (formerly the Abbot of Ampleforth) and by David Bowman (the choir's first Conductor) to help preserve in England the singing of music written for the Roman Catholic church, along with the best examples from other traditions, in the context for which it was written, namely the celebration of Mass.
With voices drawn from its partner prep school, St Martin's Ampleforth, and the monastery, as well as the College itself, the Schola supports the liturgy of the Abbey on Sundays. It also sings one of the great settings of the Ordinary of the Mass at Choral Mass every Friday night in term time, along with some motets and plainchant. The choir has an extensive repertoire of motets and other sacred works. It gives concerts locally, has toured widely in Europe and the United States, and the Far East.
Trebles: William and Benedict Dollard.
Benedict and his brother William were choristers in The Choir of Westminster Cathedral in 1997 and 1999. They apparently changed choirs and were singing with the Choir of Ampleforth College in 2001.
Organ: Tristan Russcher
Fauré’s “Requiem”: Schola Cantorum Ampleforth Abbey 2001 (Ian Little)
Schola Cantorum of Ampleforth Abbey, directed by Ian Little, with Simon Wright (organ), Honor Wright (harp), William Dollard (treble) and James Arthur (baritone). Recorded in Ampleforth Abbey in 2001 and issued by the now-defunct Plantagenet Music on a CD entitled “In Paradisum”.
From the CD sleeve notes: “The Schola Cantorum of Ampleforth Abbey was established by Cardinal Basil Hume (formerly the Abbot of Ampleforth) and by David Bowman (the choir's first Conductor) to help preserve in England the singing of music written for the Roman Catholic church, along with the best examples from other traditions, in the context for which it was written, namely the celebration of Mass. The choir is therefore one of only a few all-male catholic choirs in the country and consists of boys aged 8-18 along with one or two monks. The trebles are drawn from St Martin's Ampleforth whilst the lower voices come from the College. The choir is trained and conducted by Mr Little, Director of Music at Ampleforth College.”

Ampleforth
After a long day walking in the North Yorkshire hills with a Bronze Duke of Edinburgh qualification expedition we set up camp near Ampleforth, at the Golden Square Caravan and Camping site. It was windy! It might have been June, but I was glad I had my ski jacket with me to wear to keep warm.
This was a GoPro Timelapse video I shot whilst putting my tent up, cooked some food and had a game of sunset rounders. You can just about see us playing in the bottom left corner towards the end of the video.
I am still learning how to use the GoPro, and how to edit and make short movies. This is just the beginning.
The music is Stone Faced by my good friend Tin Raven, downloaded from his Soundcloud account. -
