Amruteshwar temple Ratanwadi

Siddheshwar Temple, Toka - Newasa (Maharashtra)
The famous group of temples of God Shiva which are placed around the confluence (Sangam) of Pravara and Godavari rivers at Toka near Newasa taluka of Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. The group includes Siddheshwar, Rameshwar, Mukteshwar, Ghateshwar, Gautameshwar and Sangameshwar. Siddheshwar temple, among all, is of significant temple. The temple belongs to the period of the Peshwas as per the Devanagari inscriptions. It seems that Vishnu Mahadev Gadre had built the temple in the year 1767 for the cost of Rs. 93,000. Nana Fadnavis contributed further in repairing of the temple and Godavari River Ghat. The beautifully carved temple portrays various mythological themes like Ramayana & Mahabharata and elegantly carvings of God & Goddesses. Surprisingly, the roof-top of the sabha-mandapa is ornamented with Lord Krishna & Radha’s idols. On the entrance of the Siddheshwar temple very attractive and ornamented idol of Nandi grabs attention. In the temple compound, temples of Vishnu & Maa Durga are present on the both sides of the main Siddheshwar temple i.e. Vishnu on left & Durga on right. Main attraction of Vishnu temple is ‘Dikpalas‘ (guardians of the directions) which placed on all the outer walls. Lord vishnu’s black stone idol with Shankha, Gada, Chakra looks very attractive. Devi Temple on the right side of the Siddheshwara Temple, is amazingly constructed on Star Shaped base. Devi is called as Gajara Devi by villagers, named after the founder’s surname i.e. Gadre (Gajre). The best attraction here is ‘Ashtamatrika‘ idols on the walls of the temple which include Varahi, Brahmini, Vaishnavi, Indrani, Maheshwari, Kaumari, Chamunda & Narasimhi.
