Love Wins in Amsterdam Pride Parade 2018 (Canal Parade, Netherlands) - VLOG 24

The Amsterdam Canal Pride Parade is one of the biggest events in Amsterdam, attracting over 500,000 people every year. We were lucky to witness it from one of the boats parked in the canal where the parade passed.

The boat parade this year was focused on human rights, with organizations such as Greenpeace and Amnesty International taking part in the celebrations.

If you like festivals and enjoy witnessing and being a part of large events that bring people together, the Amsterdam Pride Festival is surely not to be missed. This year, the crowd was entertained by a special opening with performers in water jetpacks and Dutch companies (including the government) went all out by giving us all an entertaining show with the colorful boats.

Amsterdam Gaypride - A documentary film about being gay in Amsterdam

You are able to walk hand in hand here. But if you would take the train tonight, you will have to let go of each other again. Pride Amsterdam, formerly known as the Amsterdam Gay Canal Pride, is an annual celebration. Pride Amsterdam 2017 was filled with engaging personal stories from the LGBT community.

The boat parade sails through the historic city center on the Amsterdam canals. We spoke courageous and inspiring people during the pride. With hundreds of thousands of visitors it is a very popular event for both gay and straight people. Amsterdam was once known as 'gay capital of the world'. Although the city is still has a gay district, gay life in Amsterdam has changed. This video is about fear, the struggle for rights and acceptance and hope.

Amsterdam is the only city in the World hosting a Gay Parade on Water. Definitely a Must SEE Event!!!

Amsterdam Gay Pride is a citywide gay-festival held annually at the center of Amsterdam during the first weekend of August. The festival attracts several hundred-thousand visitors each year and thus one of the largest publicly held annual events in the Netherlands. Amsterdam Pride was originally organized in 1996.
The peak of the festival is during the Canal Parade, a parade of boats of large variety on the first Saturday of August, which usually goes from Westerdok over the Prinsengracht, Amstel river, Zwanenburgwal and Oudeschans to Oosterdok.

Pride parades (also known as pride marches, pride events, and pride festivals) for the LGBT community are events celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) culture and pride. The events also at times serve as demonstrations for legal rights such as same-sex marriage.

More 560.000 visitors enjoyed the boats, the costumes and the fun.

CANAL PARADE AFTER MOVIE | PRIDE AMSTERDAM 2018

Elk jaar varen er 80 boten mee in de parade en zien we een verscheidenheid aan deelnemers voorbij varen, van lokale LHBTI belangen verenigingen, gay-horeca, roze netwerken van multinationals en banken, roze overheidsinstellingen, politieke partijen en ministeries. Dit jaar hadden ze stuk voor stuk nog meer hun best gedaan dan voorheen en er zaten wederom echt spectaculaire boten tussen.

Stichting Meer Dan Gewenst die de Rabobank Support card had gekregen won de prijs voor beste thema. Publieksprijs ging naar de Iraanse boot.

De juryleden die alle deelnemers van de Canal Parade beoordeelden, hebben gelet op drie hoofdcriteria: het uitbeelden van het thema ‘Heroes’, de beste uitvoering en of er deelnemers zijn die opvielen met een maatschappelijk thema.

In de categorie vormgeving won de boot van Amnesty International. Als tweede volgde Paradiso. En Dolly Bellefleur kreeg de derde prijs.

De prijs voor de boot met de beste boodschap ging naar ‘Meer dan gewenst’ de stichting voor lesbo(wens)moeders en homo(wens)vaders. De boot werd mogelijk gemaakt door de Rabobank. Gevolgd door Yubi en de Iraanse boot.

De prijs voor het thema ‘Heroes’ werd uitgereikt aan COC Nederland, de belangenorganisatie van de lhbti’s. Tweede en derde werden respectievelijk ‘Blond en Blauw’ en ‘House of Heroes’.

Dit jaar zaten Floortje Dessing, Henny Huisman, Gerard Spong en Andrea van Pol in de jury.

Afgelopen vrijdag hostte Gay.nl de officiële kick-off party van het Gay Pride-weekend op het Rembrandtplein te Amsterdam. Thomas Wustman was aanwezig om verslag uit te brengen en sprak onder andere met Emmaly Brown, DJ Jean, de eerste Mister Gay Netherlands 2015-kandidaten en Erik Arbores, het jonge dj-talent dat eerder deze week liet weten op jongens te vallen. EuroPride is a pan-European international event dedicated to LGBT pride, hosted by a different European city each year. The host city is usually one with an established gay pride event or a significant LGBT community. For up to a fortnight, numerous sporting and artistic events are staged throughout the host city. Europride usually culminates during a weekend with a traditional Mardi Gras-style pride parade, live music, special club nights, and an AIDS memorial vigil.

Tussen de 80 boten zitten dit jaar ook weer hele bijzondere, waaronder de Zelfmoordpreventieboot (onder LHBT’ers komt zelfmoordgedachten bijna 5 keer vaker voor dan bij hetero’s), Scouting Nederland (met deelnemers vanaf 14 jaar), een Iraanse boot (met statement tegen de galg die in Iran gebruikt wordt om LHBT’s op te hangen) en een boot van de stoere mannen van ARC Amsterdam Lowlanders (i.v.m. wereldkampioenschap Rugby Amster- dam 2018).

Tens of thousands of gay rights supporters at Pride Amsterdam

(4 Aug 2018) Tens of thousands of gay rights supporters gathered along Amsterdam's canals on Saturday, for the city's annual Pride Amsterdam event.
The event features gay, lesbian and transgender people, many of them scantily-clad, dancing to music on elaborate, colourful boat-floats with onlookers cheering them on.
The canal parade is the main attraction of Pride Amsterdam.
Hundreds of boats, each of them with a different theme, travelled along the canals, watched by tens of thousands of people.
The theme of this year's parade is Heroes, which organisers say is dedicated to all people who are standing up for the human rights of LGBTQ+ people.
Dutch people overwhelmingly support equal rights, and the country became the world's first to allow gay marriage in April 2001.
