Scuba Diving Saint Vincent and the Grenadines - What You'll see.
St. Vincent isn't easy to get to. There are no direct flights from the US. You need to go first to Barbados or Trinidad, then catch a prop plane to St. Vincent. It's about a 40 minute flight. But leaving St. Vincent was delayed 8 hours do to assorted problems, including needing more gas than was available in St. Vincent.
But boy, was the diving in St Vincent worth the effort. We were diving in Bonaire which is my favorite spot. It's the shore diving capital of the world. Then we went on to St. Vincent. I wasn't sure what to expect. St. Vincent has wonderful robust reefs, awesome numbers of fish and lots to see and shoot. The boat never went more than 5-6 minutes from the hotel's beach and saw awesome fish, a wreak and a bat cave. We saw grassy areas with lots of macro and walls full of life.
St. Vincent was really worth the effort.

Scuba Diving with Dive St. Vincent 2015. Caribbean
Scuba diving in St Vincent. The video was shot in 2 dive sites in St Vincent. St Vincent is known for its muck diving and critters, but it also has some very healthy coral.
The sites dove in this video were typical muck sites. But as you can see it also has some very healthy corals. There are sites with more reef such as the wall site.
Live the Culture, Tobago Style
Unfairly overshadowed by its sister island, Trinidad, the Caribbean island of Tobago has lots to offer anyone who is considering a holiday there.
When it comes to Culture, where can you discover the colonial history of forts whilst enjoying spectacular views? Find friendly locals who want you to love their paradise island as much as they do? Eat, drink and dance with the locals and have a go at playing the steelpan?
When it comes to Activities, where can you enjoy a whole host of activities both in the water and on land? Have an action-packed holiday on an unspoilt Caribbean island? Or take in naturally beautiful scenery, rare wildlife and a relaxed Caribbean way of life?

Tucked inside Rockly Bay is the cruise port of Scarborough, the capital of Tobago. Framed by mountains, this quaint village-like port has a population of over 26,000. Located on the southeastern part of the island, Scarborough is also the region's economic and cultural center, which includes the largest performing art theater in the Caribbean. Scarborough is a flourishing town, brimming with a brisk vibrancy. Devoid of any touristy pretentions, its street corners buzz with liming locals, while pavement stalls are perused by shoppers and the bars spill out onto the streets.
⚓ Most cruise lines anchor right at port where you can explore the city or catch tours to other parts of Tobago. Delights await you right outside the terminal, where you'll find local vendors selling homemade dessert items such as sugar cakes and benne balls. Venture to the Milford Road Esplanade to find plenty of shopping, restaurants, and entertainment.
⛵ A fantastic way to get around for sightseeing and snorkeling are through one of the many catamaran cruises offered in town. Keep an eye out for schools of flying fish as well as frolicking dolphins and whales that visit the coastal seas as you sail around the island to the sounds of calypso music. Or, explore the wonderful Buccoo Reef by glass-bottom boat and gasp at its colorful fish and coral. ????????
Overlooking the city are the 18th-century ruins of Fort King George. The old fortification is home to the Tobago Historical Museum, where you can browse an impressive collection of historic maps, Amerindian relics, ancient pottery pieces, colonial artifacts, local art and more. Once used as a military prison, the museum is not only informative but offers beautiful views from its commanding hillside location.
If you're looking for a stroll while being immersed by nature, visit the Scarborough Botanical Garden a bit up the hill from the museum. The 17 acres of plants and various trees provide a shady oasis from the sun. Or take a walk through the island's tropical rainforest among birdsong and see the breathtaking cascading Gold and Silver Falls. At 175 feet high, the lovely Argyle Waterfall is Tobago's highest waterfall. There's a bit of a climb to reach the top, but well worth it – a dip in the pool below will cool you down perfectly.
????????♀ If you just want to relax, Pigeon Point, a peninsula of soft powdery white sand jutting into a pale turquoise sea, is Tobago’s main beach attraction. Protected by the Buccoo Reef, Pigeon Point Beach is ideal for families and children. Set on a private coconut estate, the beach is lined with coconut palms, palapas, and a great beach bar restaurant. Pigeon Point's claim to fame is a thatched-roof jetty that has come to be an informal logo of Tobago. Pigeon Point also offers water-sports, cafes, changing rooms, ample shade and souvenir shops to keep everyone entertained.
???? Pigeon Point is about 6 miles from the port; closer is lovely Stonehaven Bay where giant turtles nest (you’ll rarely see them during the day), with a couple of good restaurants. Englishman’s Bay is one of the wildest and most beautiful in the Caribbean, but involves a 45-minute taxi ride.

SAILING HOME - BBB 2019 PT6
After coffee and a morning swim it's time for the anchor to be pulled and head for home. At the start there was no wind at all, then a slight breeze set in for the home stretch.
Horizon's Captain Greg talks beach BBQ
Captain Greg is one of our most popular Captains aboard our Skippered charters. He is passionate about sailing and sharing this beautiful part of the world with you. Originally from St Vincent, Greg now sails our guests all over the Grenadines from either our base in St Vincent or Grenada. Greg is also a certified diver, too. He enjoys sharing his love of fishing with our guests and quite often they will be dining on board, under the stars, on a fresh tuna! If you are new to this part of the sailing world and cruising area, we've prepared a 10 night sailing itinerary to give you a flavour.
Day 1 Your Grenada charter itinerary starts at noon. Following the comprehensive yacht and chart briefing with Horizon Yacht Charters, depart from True Blue Bay with your Grenada sailing itinerary. Sail to St. George’s for the first stop, anchor off Ross Point for the night. If you are sailing with a crew you will depart earlier and sail directly to Carriacou on this day.
Day 2 Set off on an exhilarating day sail to Tyrrel Bay, Carriacou. Anchor amongst the local fishing boats and enjoy a stroll and drinks ashore at one of the local rum shops, or simply lounge in the cockpit and watch the sun set behind you.
Day 3 Breakfast and swim at Sandy Island while you watch the pelicans performing aerobatics around your boat. After snorkeling the reef, clear out in Hillsborough before sailing over to Clifton Harbour, Union to clear in and pick up fresh pineapple and homemade bread before taking a short sail to palm lined Salt Whistle Bay, Mayreau.
Day 4 Take an early morning stroll to the top of Mayreau and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding islands. Afterwards it’s an hour’s sail to the Tobago Cays. Simply spectacular! Dine aboard under the stars after spending the day snorkeling and exploring the beaches of the cays.
Day 5 Spend the day snorkeling and exploring the Cays – since the area is protected the wealth of sea life is extraordinary. Just off the little island of Baradel is an area cordoned off for turtles to feed, and it’s an incredible experience to get close and swim with these remarkable animals. Explore the islands ashore and climb to their summits for the stunning views and watch the almost tame iguanas and land tortoises lumbering around.
Day 6 A four hour sail brings you to Admiralty Bay, Bequia, capital of the laid back Caribbean. Soak up the friendly, bustling atmosphere ashore, with an excellent meal at one of the many restaurants. Bequia’s famous for its wooden boat builders; take home a replica to remind you of your trip.
Day 7 Stock up on fresh provisions and then it’s a short cruise to chic Mustique, with a perfect swim stop at Petit Nevis on the way. Enjoy lunch at Basil’s Bar, or a sunset dinner at the Firefly while you dream of your holiday home on this perfect tropical island.
Day 8 Set off south again on your Grenada charter itinerary, this time heading for the west side of Union Island. Chatham Bay is your destination, a beautiful deserted bay surrounded by hills. Hike up for magnificent views or enjoy snorkeling along the north edge of the bay. A beach barbeque with a local chef can provide the entertainment on an otherwise quiet night.
Day 9 Back to Clifton Harbour to check out of St. Vincent, then a sail over to Petit St Vincent for the night, stopping at Mopion on the way, a flawless piece of sand in turquoise water topped with a small coconut thatch shelter for shade. Caribbean perfection! Spoil yourself for dinner if you want at PSV resort.
Day 10 Tyrell bay – St George’s; an exhilarating downwind sail to St George’s passing the isolated islands of Kick ‘em Jenny and Isle De Ronde. On arrival at St George’s anchor off Ross Point or for luxury book a slip at the new Port Louis Marina. Dine at the marina’s own restaurant or for some very authentic local cuisine go to BB’s Crab Back on the Carenage.
Day 11 A final morning’s sail around to True Blue where the Horizon staff will assist you to the dock for a noon finish on your Grenada sailing itinerary. True Blue Resort is just a few minutes ride from the airport and is a great place to base yourselves if you plan to be on island and explore for a few more days. Grenada is a spectacular island that offers excellent diving, island tours to old plantations, rain forest hikes and stunning beaches.
