Ancient Corinth - Greece HD Travel Channel
In ancient Corinth in Greece, only the remains of the Temple of Zeus bear witness from the archaic city. Otherwise, the ruins are strongly influenced by the Roman past. In the centre of the Agora one can still recognize the speaker's platform where the apostle Paulus had to justify himself before the Roman dictators.
The well house of the Peirene Fountain is in good conditon; Peirene, a nymph in Greek mythology, is said to be the daughter of the river god Asospus. Many statues once surrounded the large pool.
The wide Lechaion Road, the main shopping street of Ancient Corinth today, still conveys the vitality of yore.
From the theater, only the foundations are still visible.
The adjacent museum displays rich murals, mosaics and sculptures.
A mighty citadel rises on a hill above the ancient town. Byzantines, Franks, Ottomans and Venetians have all left their traces here.

Greece: Ancient Corinth
Ancient Corinth lay at the foothills of Acrocorinth hill on the narrow stretch of land that joins the Peloponnese to the mainland of Greece, roughly halfway between Athens and Sparta.
In 550 B.C. Corinth allied themselves with Sparta and also built: The Temple of Apollo.
The Museum of Ancient Corinth contains art from The Geometric period up to The Hellenistic period.
Corinth, Greece
Tour of the ancient city of Corinth. St. Paul wrote two letters to the Corinthian Christians. Critics claimed Erastus was made up, but an inscription discovered at Corinth has Erastus engraved on it. The Temple of Aphrodite (the goddess of love) on the hill had over a 1,000 prostitutes. The Bema or judgment seat is clearly seen with a whipping post in front. Gallio is mentioned in Delphi as ruling 51-52 AD. Paul stayed a year an a half in Corinth, where he wrote I Thessalonians. See Acts 18:1-17.

Greece Road Trip Begins!! Athens to Corinth / Road Trip DAY 1
Today we hired a car from Thrifty at Athens Airport. Before hiring a car we had read SO MANY bad reviews about hiring cars in Greece, especially while in Athens. But we are keen to see the countryside of Greece so we’re going to push through all the negativity and give it a go!
We set off from the Airport early afternoon and headed straight to Corinth, which is on the North coast of The Peloponesse. We’ll be spending two weeks exploring The Peloponnese, sometimes staying in Airbnbs and other times we’ll use our tent and stay at campsites.
There is loads to see in Greece - ancient sights, mountains, beaches (so many beaches!), and quaint rural villages. We’re so excited to explore this country!

Corinth Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Corinth in Greece.
Between the Greek mainland and Peloponnes are the extensive ruins of ancient Corinth. Of the city's former magnificence, only a few Doric columns of the 6th century Apollo Temple have survived. Due to its favourable location and fertile soil, three thousand years ago during the Neolithic period the first settlements were established in this region.146 B.C. marked the end of Classical Corinth. The Romans devastated and plundered the ancient metropolis and enslaved its people and for almost a hundred years the ruins were uninhabited but, due to Caesar, new life returned to the city. Surrounded by the pure, wild beauty of Nature, the ruins blend harmoniously into the magnificence of the surrounding landscape. From a medieval fortress, in the distance there are the remains of an ancient Corinthian port and even today shipping plays an important role in the everyday life of this ancient city.

Ancient Sites in Greece (Mainland) in 4K Ultra HD
The Ancient Sites in Mainland Greece, where the history of the Western Civilization began ...
Main sites in the video: Delphi (0:01), Olympia (1:40), Mycenae (3:10), Tiryns (4:12), Epidaurus (4:44), Acrocorinth (5:24), Corinth (6:25), Athens (7:11).
Couple of views from interesting nearby locations that do not belong to the ancient history: Galaxidi (1:36), Nafplio from the Palamidi fortress(4:28), Corinth Canal (6:56). The fortress at Acrocorinth is from Byzantine and later times, but Acrocorinth itself is the acropolis of ancient Corinth.
UNESCO World Heritage Sites in this video (all quotes from whc.unesco.org):
Delphi: The pan-Hellenic sanctuary of Delphi, where the oracle of Apollo spoke, was the site of ... the 'navel of the world'. Blending harmoniously with the superb landscape and charged with sacred meaning, Delphi in the 6th century B.C. was indeed the religious centre and symbol of unity of the ancient Greek world.
Olympia: In the 10th century B.C., Olympia became a centre for the worship of Zeus. The Altis – the sanctuary to the gods – has one of the highest concentrations of masterpieces from the ancient Greek world. In addition to temples, there are the remains of all the sports structures erected for the Olympic Games, which were held in Olympia every four years beginning in 776 B.C.
Mycenae and Tiryns: The archaeological sites of Mycenae and Tiryns are the imposing ruins of the two greatest cities of the Mycenaean civilization, which dominated the eastern Mediterranean world from the 15th to the 12th century B.C. and played a vital role in the development of classical Greek culture.
Epidaurus: Hellenic architectural ensemble of the 4th century BCE. The site is one of the most complete ancient Greek sanctuaries of Antiquity and is significant for its architectural brilliance and influence.
Acropolis, Athens: The Acropolis of Athens and its monuments are universal symbols of the classical spirit and civilization and form the greatest architectural and artistic complex bequeathed by Greek Antiquity to the world.

Ancient Corinth Greece ✔
➤The Ancient Corinth was a city-state (polis) on the Isthmus of Corinth, the narrow stretch of land that joins the Peloponnese to the mainland of Greece, roughly halfway between Athens and Sparta. The modern town of Corinth is located approximately 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) northeast of the ancient ruins. Since 1896, systematic archaeological investigations of the Corinth Excavations by the American School of Classical Studies at Athens have revealed large parts of the ancient city, and recent excavations conducted by the Greek Ministry of Culture have brought to light important new facets of antiquity.
