Ruins and costumes and performance skills and singing, and acting, it was time that could never feel the power of it, not Croatia culture and art built in a day.

ITINERARY
Morning departure from Zagreb – pickup at the hotel at 8.30 am. An hour and a half drive to our first stop in Trsat hilltop castle (fortification) located just above the beautiful coastal city of Rijeka and the third largest city in Croatia. The castle itself is one of the oldest castle-forts in Croatia founded by the House of Frankopan – one of the most famous and oldest Croatian noble families.
There we shall have coffee break with a spectacular view of city of Rijeka and Istria peninsula. After our coffee break we are continuing with the trip towards Istria, most known as the region of the royal mushroom – the truffle. The truffle has been considered a delicacy for millenniums. It had been food in which Mesopotamian rulers enjoyed 4000 years ago as well as it is a delicacy nowadays. This royal mushroom was of course known to the ancient Greeks and the Roman emperors, as well as favorable food served at the French court and among the Austro-Hungarian aristocracy. It is very rare since it grows only in several locations in Europe – in some parts of France, Italy and in Istria.
There we shall visit medieval hilltop town of Motovun. Its location, overlooking the vast Motovun forest rich in truffles and hillside vineyards, makes it one of the most beautiful and unique Mediterranean old towns. After exploring the stones of an old medieval fortification you will have time for lunch (optional). We can definitely worn you to prepare your palate for the true taste explosion because you will have the opportunity to experience a traditional Istrian truffle lunch.
opatija001
Opatija
After lunch we are heading back to Zagreb with one last stop at the town of Opatija. This elegant destination also known as the Queen of the Adriatic has the longest tourism tradition in Croatia. More than 170 years long. It all began in the late 19th century when, due to remarkable presence of natural remedies within the area’s soil, water or climate, Opatija officially gained the status of Royal health resort within the Austro-Hungarian Empire. You will have the opportunity to take a peek at the most romantic promenade of the Adriatic coast – Opatija’s lungo mare while enjoying the cake or gelato in the famous Opatija’s coffee house Wagner.
After Opatija we continue with the drive back to Zagreb and expected to arrive around 6.00 pm.

SUMMARY
=======
Croatian national costume or Croatian dress (Croatian: narodna nošnja, plural: narodne nošnje) refers to the traditional clothing worn by Croats living in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, with smaller communities in Hungary, Austria, Montenegro, and Romania. Since today Croats wear Western-style clothing on a daily basis, the national costumes are most often worn with connection to special events and celebrations, mostly at ethnic festivals, religious holidays, weddings, and by dancing groups who dance the traditional Croatian kolo, or circle dance.
Each cultural and geographical region has its own specific variety of costume that vary in style, material, color, shape, and form. Much of these regional costumes were influenced by the Austrian, Hungarian, German, Italian, or Turkish presence, due to whichever power ruled the region.
Croatia Travel Skills: Plitvice Lakes National Park
More Croatia: In this talk, Rick Steves' guidebook co-author Cameron Hewitt shares advice for traveling along Croatia's Dalmatian Coast: the Roman villa-turned-bustling-city, Split; the Pearl of the Adriatic, Dubrovnik; some charming seafront villages; and Plitvice Lakes National Park.
Top 10 Croatia Getaways: Beautiful Country Which Genuinely Has Something For Everyone
This trip is all about the natural beauty, culture and history of Croatia – and you’ll cover a lot of ground. The tour include visits to the medieval walled town of Motovun, the 3,000-year-old town of Pula, with its well-preserved Roman amphitheatre, and the coastal town of Opatija. You’ll also travel further afield to the Plitvice Lakes National Park and, in Slovenia, the vast Postojna cave system and the Lipica Stud Farm. The Archers Holidays Istrian Riviera tour is based in Porec.
Ride through miles of mountain scenery as you cycle in the Plitvice, Velebit and Paklenica national parks. You’ll mostly stay in hotels but on one night you’ll be in a remote hut high in the mountains. The last day of Exodus’ Mountain Biking in Croatia trip will be spent on Pag island where you can try local sheep’s cheese or relax on the beach. You’ll cover between 30 and 70 miles a day with plenty of climbs.
Party to the sounds of Clean Bandit, the Vaccines, Fat Boy Slim and more at the Croatia Rocks music festival. It runs from July 19 to 23 on Zrce beach on the island of Pag, with five nights of bands and DJs. There are boat parties and beach parties as well as sun, sea and beautiful surroundings. See croatiarocks.com for full line-up of acts.
There shouldn’t be too much danger of rain stopping play on a tennis break on the sun-kissed Dalmatian Riviera. Hone your serve or backhand with four hours of playing each day and friendly competitions with prizes. You’ll stay at the four-star Solaris Hotel Jure which is a short walk from the beach in Sibenik. The Solo Holidays break is aimed at single travellers.
Explore the beautiful islands that dot the Dalmatian coast on a yacht voyage from the Pearl of the Adriatic to the ancient city of Split. As well as enjoying the scenery, strolling round towns and villages and visiting ancient ruins, you’ll be able to swim or snorkel in the sea. Stops on the Intrepid Travel trip include Mljet, Korcula and Brac.
Enjoy the best of both worlds when you stay at a beach-front hotel that’s just a few miles from the old town. Four-star Hotel Neptun on the Lapad Peninsula has recently been renovated and is surrounded by pine trees with great sea views. All rooms have air-conditioning, TVs with satellite channels and free wifi.
Set sail from Dubrovnik and call at Korcula, Split and other beautiful destinations on a Saga Dalmatian Explorer cruise on MV Emanuel. The small ship, which sleeps up to 30 guests, has air-conditioned en-suite cabins, a restaurant and a sun deck plus a free bar open 11 hours a day.
Get back to nature on a car-free private island, a 10-minute water taxi ride from Hvar. Tropical Cottages on Sveti Klement is a cluster of seven villas in gorgeous botanical gardens. Spend your days swimming in the clear waters around the island, hire a boat or kayak to explore hidden coves or try windsurfing and scuba diving. There are two restaurants in the resort, serving seafood, grilled meat and fresh vegetables from the island’s garden, and other restaurants and beach bars around the island.
A day exploring the museums, churches, galleries, restaurants and cafés of Zagreb is one of the highlights of Railbookers’ epic railway journey across Europe. The Zagreb and Ljubljana via the Alps trip also includes stays in Munich, Ljubljana, Vienna and Cologne. Along the way you’ll travel through some of the continent’s most dramatic mountain scenery, including a stretch of track high in the Alps.
Combine a city break with strolls in wonderful scenery on Exodus’ Dubrovnik and Dalmatian Coast tour. You’ll have a chance to visit Split’s old town before visits to Korcula and Mljet islands. Then you’ll catch the ferry to Dubrovnik where you’ll have three days to experience its rich history. There is an optional day trip to Mostar, Bosnia.

CONCRETE OF THE ANCIENTS: Exploring a Prehistoric Cavern in Istria, Croatia, April 9, 2017

Google Maps:

#3. If we're the ancients and we're building in sections, we would have seams.
You can see the top [of the hill] being so regular [and rounded]. The line is really regular, even though the composition of the hill is this really, really strong, tortured material -- seemingly tortured, if it was natural -- and yet the top is perfectly smooth. It doesn't make any sense. If this stuff came into existence by the forces of nature, the hill would not be so smooth [and rounded] at the top.
I want to encourage anyone listening to this video to think of this as some kind of concrete -- and not natural -- as a hypothesis. . . . We had veins like this, calcite veins, in the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun concrete. And you can see the veins run all through this stuff. Could be natural, right? Could very well be natural. But then again, what if it's not? If it's not natural, that's really, really, really important to know. So, even if the chances of this being artificial are very small, I think it's important that we pursue this possibility. And there are clues, like these calcite veins, that this could be artificial.

Exploring ancient built hills in Waterval Boven, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa
You can see the stones are inclined to the right, into the face of the structure . . . [Geologists] will just say, 'That's the way the hills were shaped over millions of years.' Well, that's totally a reasonable claim, unless you actually study them. But you won't find anyone studying these hills out here. [E]ventually science is going to have to catch up with the world. . . .
