Anclote Gulf Park Hank Pretz Kayak Fishing
Tom and I take a short road trip up to Anclote. Not a great catching day but always a great fishing day.
Salt water kayak fishing inshore and some offshore. Fishing for redfish, snook and trout. Some traveling to other areas of Florida. Fishing Clearwater area waters.
Fishing Anclote Power Plant with My Brother — Jacks & Mangrove Snapper
I took my brother out for an afternoon of fishing at Anclote Gulf Park, right at the power plant outflow. It was a pretty slow day of fishing, but we had fun with it. We fished both from shore and from kayaks as we caught some jack crevalle and mangrove snapper.

Anclote Power Plant Canal, Jan 2019
The weather has been cold (relatively) over the past month or so and the ocean waters have cooled to 63 degrees. The Anclote River Power Plant cooling water canal is well-known for warmer water that attracts manatees and all inshore fish species. The canal this morning was 68 degrees, a substantial difference to the surrounding river and ocean waters. I got to the boat ramp well before sunrise and made my way to the canal where I met two others who were kind enough to give me an education on the location. I caught 15 bluefish, which are highly edible, and seven jacks. All my catch went to one of these fishermen who was feeding his family. A great guy.

Anclote Key and Lighthouse
Anclote Key and Lighthouse Footage from DJI Mavic Pro Drone.
Anclote Key is an island off the Gulf Coast of the U.S. state of Florida, the largest island in the Anclote Keys, located at 28°11′16″N 82°50′44″W near Tarpon Springs. Its name originates from the Spanish term for anchor.[1] The island is accessible only by boat and is split between Anclote Key Preserve State Park and Anclote National Wildlife Reserve. The island contains mangrove wetlands, coastal pine flatwoods, and beaches. A large number of shorebirds nest and breed on Anclote Key and the surrounding islands. Sand Key is located nearby. Most of the island is located within Pasco County, while its southernmost section is in Pinellas County. The island is home to the Anclote Keys Light.

ANCLOTE KEY BEACH
The Anclote Key is about 3 miles off the coast of Florida, near Tarpon Springs area. This key along with Three Rooker bar are barrier islands. A hurricane back in the 18th century sunk some Spanish ships along the shoreline. Anclote means anchor in Spanish. I think Anclote beach is one of the nicest beaches anywhere.
