Escape the Heat - Go to the Beach

Even in March Cuba can be quite hot and when you are visiting Trinidad de Cuba is can a relief to head for the beach. The beach in this case is Playa Ancon located about 12 km to the south of Trinidad.
While the temperatures are tempered by a breeze off the the Caribbean Sea it is still incredibly hot but at least you can go swimming in crystal clear waters. The beach is excellent with white fine sable sand and lots of room as at this time there are not that many bathers or vacationers. Playa Ancon is not on the main tourist path for Cuban beach vacations as that distinction goes to the Varadaro area on the north coast of Cuba 150 km east of Havana.
On the other hand if you want to escape the crowds and are comfortable with only one major resort hotel - the Hotel Ancon - then Playa Ancon would be your destination. Enough said ....have a look.

Playa Ancón, a beautiful tropical beach close to Trinidad, Cuba

A short taxi ride, only 7 miles from Trinidad on the Cuban south coast, you find the beautiful tropical beach Playa Ancón. The long stretch of white sand lined by azur waters is a perfect destination for a day trip when visiting Trinidad. It’s rarely crowded and there’s a few places along the beach that serves drinks and food or light snacks.

Trinidad, Cuba (part 2): Hotel Club Amigo Playa Ancon (4k)

Today, we take a walk through the Ancon hotel grounds in Trinidad, Cuba, check out the beach and view from a few rooms as well as from the rooftop.

When staying at the Club Amigo Costa Sur, Club Amigo Playa Ancon or the Brisas Trinidad Del Mar hotels in Cuba, I definitely recommend traveling via the Jaime Gonzalez airport in Cienfuegos (90 minute drive) as it is a lot closer than the Abel Santamaria airport in Santa Clara (3 hour drive) albeit the drive through Sancti Spiritus is definitely worth the extra time.

While there, do plan a visit Trinidad which has been classified a World Heritage site by Unesco or take a trek to the Topes de Collantes or to the El Nicho falls.

Most Beautiful Beach in Cuba? (Trinidad)

Where is the best beach in Cuba? We discover Playa Maria Aguilar, just outside of Trinidad which is one of the nicest beaches I've ever seen (and way less crowded than Varadero or Playa Ancon). This beach is a little bit off the beaten path and a real escape. This is the third of my four American Traveling in Cuba vlogs. We spent the morning exploring the old centre of Trinidad, with visits to a state ration shop and the Municipal Museum. The afternoon was spent beside the Caribbean on the lovely Playa Ancon.

Sunset at Ancon Beach in Trinidad, Cuba

Sit back and relax while watching the sunset at Ancon Beach.
I hope this video brings you more relaxation than recording it brought me.
I was being bitten by sand fleas nearly the whole time I was filming.
You'll notice that the camera moves around sometimes. This has a lot to do with me not having a tripod, and having to hold the camera in a strange position which caused my hand to get tired. haha :P
