This timeline of United States government military operations is based on the Committee on International Relations (now known as the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs). Dates show the years in which U.S. government military units participated. Items in bold are the U.S. government wars most often considered to be major conflicts by historians and the general public. Note that instances where the U.S. government gave aid alone, with no military personnel involvement, are excluded, as are Central Intelligence Agency operations.

Panama: between Two Worlds

Since Panama’s founding by Spain 500 years ago, it has been an important transit point between the Atlantic and Pacific. Based on her work as a collaborative projects specialist, Humphrey fellow Barbara Barrios Dumanoir explores her country and how its strategic geography enabled connectivity and a beneficial logistics route, transforming global maritime trade.
About the speaker:
Barbara Barrios Dumanoir has been working as collaborative projects specialist at the Manzanillo International Terminal in Panama for the past 20 years. She analyzes and documents the processes used by the different departments, designs virtual courses for the learning management system, and coordinates a document standardization project of different departments and terminals. Barbara would like to teach young people and adults of all educational levels and design technology policies that would help support Panama’s educational system. Barbara received her Doctorate in Education from UNIEDPA and her MBA in Maritime Administration from ULACIT.
