A Trip to Andratx Market - Mallorca
Our trip to Andratx market Mallorca (Majorca). On day four of our holiday in Mallorca we took a bus from Santa Ponsa to Andratx to visit the Andratx market which takes place every Wednesday. We managed to get there for around 10am which was a good thing as the market was huge and spilled out in to the surrounding streets. It took us around 2 hours to get around the whole market at a nice leisurely pace. The majority of stalls were selling women's clothes and bags but there were plenty of food stalls selling fresh fruits, vegetables, cold cuts, handicrafts, clothing, flowers and other typical Majorcan products.
Andratx is a typical Spanish town with scenic buildings and streets and plenty of places to eat. We didn't manage to get to the Port of Andratx which we know was nearby as time was running out but hopefully next time we will.

Andratx & Port d'Andratx, West Coast Mallorca
A video guide to the town of Andratx from seemallorca. Learn more about Port d'Andratx here -
Andratx sits on the south west peninsula of Mallorca about 20 miles from from Palma de Mallorca. Andratx itself is a quiet town but near by you'll find great beaches, a harbour town, restaurants, art galleries, golf courses, tennis clubs and nature reserves. Some of the best of the island right on your doorstep.
Markets in Andratx, Palma and the rest of Mallorca
For more about markets in Mallorca visit
Almost every town in Mallorca has a weekly market, where you can buy everything from fresh fruit and veg, to cheap clothes, beach accessories, souvenirs and even livestock.
The Market in Andratx is fairly typical of the weekly markets across the island with flowers, fruit and veg, clothes and some slightly dodgy mis-spelt fashion ware.
There are markets all over Mallorca. Market day varies from town to town but the start and end times are fairly standard. The markets start at 8am and run until around mid-day.
For fresh friut, veg, meat and fish in Palma one of the best markets is the Olivar covered market. It's like a large bustling Harrod's food court just off Placa Espanya and is open everyday except Sunday from 7am-2pm.
The market is great for fresh food and there are stalls where you can have freshly made tapas. One of my favourite sections of the market is the area that sells fish it's probably not for the squeamish as most of the catches still have faces but you can get really good freshly made sushi here.
As well as food markets and general markets there are also artisan markets that sell jewellery, and hand made arts and crafts. Some of these markets like, Sa Bimbolla take place at night, and they a great place to pick up some gifts to take back home and even watch a show.
There are markets all over the island. They are on everyday and sometimes at night and you can buy everything from lunch to gifts to take home. Find the market day in the town near you on our Markets in Mallorca page.

Mallorca - Andratx
29th June 2016
There was supposed to be a weekly market in Andratx on Wednesday, but it was a holiday for the festival of St Peter, so no market and everything was closed. On top of that it rained for about the first time this month. We did manage to attend part of a mass with people dressed in traditional costumes, before taking a bus to the livelier Port d'Andratx.
You can find a detailed account of our trip to Mallorca here:

Lifestyle Video - Port Andratx
Located 28 km from Palma, with 3,200 inhabitants, the port of Andratx is the westernmost port in Mallorca, and therefore closest to the island of Ibiza, located just 80 miles away. Port Andratx is one of the few professional fishing ports, where you can buy the daily catch after 4pm on weekdays, from its renovated fish market. It is also one of the most beautiful natural harbours in the Mediterranean, with crystalline waters that are perfect for bathing in two of its little bays. So clean and protected are the waters that fish varieties gilt-head and sea bass are also harvested here.
The Yacht Club cvpa.es, founded in 1968, has European environmental quality certifications (including ISO 14001), and has 475 moorings, as well as 182 moorings managed by the Government of Mallorca. The Yacht Club also has an important sailing school for small sail boats and canoes, with a range of possibilities for residents and visitors.
It was completely reformed in the summer of 2013.
The port of Andratx has grown from a fishing port into one of the most desirable places for second homes. With no large sandy beach, mass tour operators have historically kept away, and so the port has preserved its original character and is a perfect place for year round living. The many excellent restaurants, boutiques and shops make the port a lively social and shopping area, and a coffee, drink or meal on the sea front is a “must” for any visitor or resident, enjoyable throughout the year.

Palma de Mallorca PORT -
Port Andratx (Video-3/Sunny Day), Mallorca, Spain
Mallorca has more than 70 beaches enjoyed by tourist from all around the world. From vast bays packed with tourist facilities to tiny rocky coves only accessible on foot or by boats, Mallorca can be as reliable as can be when it comes to beach affairs. Puerto de Andratx is especially pleasing because it is very exclusive and not known yet to the packaged holiday clients. This beach is in close proximity with the beaches of Camp de Mar and that of San Telm, which is sheltered by Dragoneraisland.
Puerto de Andratx is a popular but quiet resort situated on the southwest of Mallorca. It has a well known marina with a natural port and is a magnet for yacht and boat owners world wide.
