A long tradition extending over nearly 120 years...
Let's go back to the 1900s, when Paris blossomed both artistically and intellectually at an incredible rate. Writers, painters and politicians congregated in the cafés and restaurants - as well as the tea rooms, which were the latest place to be.
In 1903, the confectioner Anton Rumpelmayer founded Angelina with his son René, a tea house at No.226, Rue de Rivoli, named after his daughter-in-law. Art Nouveau represents a style as much as the era of the 1900s. The interior, designed by the famous Belle Epoque architect Edouard-Jean Niermans, combines elegance, charm and refinement. to create a sense of romanticism and poetry.
The location’s charm and the Rumpelmayer’s skill and expertise with pastries quickly made Angelina the place to be amongst the elite. Proust, Coco Chanel and the biggest French fashion designers gathered in the famous tearoom. Today , parisians and tourists are queueing to taste the signature Mont-Blanc and the famous hot chocolate L'Africain.
Angelina ; a sense of romanticism and poetry, a calm and voluptuous place, inspiring serenity and gourmandise.
-----

Day two of a multi-part series where I show you some of the best food experiences we visited in Paris, Seville and Barcelona. Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE!
Doug and I visit the Versailles palace, and finally visit Angelina. Angelina is a popular cafe in Paris, famous for their delectable pastries and hot chocolate.
Afterwards, I was finally able to see the Eiffel Tower in person. I can't believe I was actually there, instead of seeing it through a TV!
I wanted to visit other Paris restaurants, since we had a LARGE list of delicious places to eat at! However, Doug had been asking to grab Doner Kebabs when we finally arrived in Europe, and Day 2 was the day we finally got our hands on some.
Thanks for watching! Subscribe to see DAY 3!
Breakfast at Angelina. The best spot in Paris to relive the Belle Epoque charm.
No visit to Paris is complete without enjoying breakfast at Angelina’s. Angelina replicates all of the original’s Belle Epoque charm, with mosaic floors, ornate mirrors, and soft lighting. Coco Chanel and Audrey Hepburn were among the well known patrons of Angelina. The luxurious interior, complete with gold trim, whimsical murals and sumptuous art nouveau lines, was designed by Édouard-Jean Niermans. It is truly the best breakfast spot in Paris! A glass of freshly squeezed orange juice, a cup of coffee with creme, a basket of croissants, pains au chocolat and pains aux raisins--all buttery and delightful, tartine with apricot jam, chestnut spread, butter and honey and more...is all you need to brighten your morning.

ANGELINA Hot Chocolate - PARIS 2018
Arguably one of the best hot chocolate drinks in the world, we had to try it! My verdict, likely one of the best around...I still give advantage to Barcelona.
Angelina's has multiple locations throughout Paris - we visited their original location on Rue Rivoli, conveniently walking distance to the Louvre. We ordered the Brunch option which includes the famous Hot chocolate, many pastries and bread rolls, juice, brioche, and a ham & egg croissant...along with a la carte Onion soup. This was more than enough for 2 people, as there were leftovers.
Brunch was 39-euros, so definitely a splurge meal!

A Walk Down Rue de Rivoli, Paris
Rue de Rivoli is one of the most famous streets in Paris, a commercial street whose shops include the most fashionable names in the world. It bears the name of Napoleon's early victory against the Austrian army, at the battle of Rivoli, fought January 14 and 15, 1797. The rue de Rivoli marked a transitional compromise between an urbanism of prestige monuments and aristocratic squares, and the forms of modern town planning by official regulation.
The new street that Napoleon Bonaparte pierced through the heart of Paris took for one side the north wing of the Louvre Palace, which Napoleon extended, and the Tuileries Gardens. For the first time ever, a handsome, regular, wide street would face the north wing of the old palace. Napoleon's original section of the street opened up eastward from the Place de la Concorde. Builders on the north side of the Place Louis XV, as it then was named, between rue de Mondovi and rue Saint-Florentin, had been constrained by letters patent in 1757 and 1758 to follow a single façade plan. The result was a pleasing uniformity, and Napoleon's planners extended a similar program, which has resulted in the famous arcaded facades that extend for almost a mile.
The restored Bourbon King Charles X continued the rue de Rivoli eastwards from the Louvre, as did King Louis-Philippe. Finally, Emperor Napoleon III extended it into the 17th-century quarter of Le Marais (see: Right Bank). Beneath the rue de Rivoli runs one of the main brick-vaulted, oval-sectioned sewers of Paris' much-imitated system, with its sidewalks for the sewer workers.
In 1852, opposite the wing of the Louvre, Baron Haussmann enlarged the Place du Palais-Royal that is centered on the baroque Palais Royal, built for Cardinal Richelieu in 1624 and willed to the royal family, with its garden surrounded by chic commercial arcades. At the rear of the garden is the older branch of the Bibliothèque Nationale, in rue Richelieu.
North of the rue de Rivoli, at the point where the Grands Boulevards crossed an enormous new square, the new opera house was built. The Opera Garnier is a monument to the construction of the Second Empire. Just behind the opera house can be found the largest department stores, such as the Galeries Lafayette and Printemps.
East along the rue de Rivoli, at the Place des Pyramides, is the gilded statue of Joan of Arc, situated close to where she was wounded at the Saint-Honoré Gate in her unsuccessful attack on English-held Paris, on September 8, 1429. A little further along, towards the Place de la Concorde, the rue de Castiglione leads to the Place Vendôme, with its Vendôme Column surmounted by the effigy of Napoleon Bonaparte. He began the building of the street in 1802; it was completed in 1865. A plaque at no. 144 commemorates the assassination there of the Huguenot leader Admiral Gaspard II de Coligny, in the St. Bartholomew's Day massacre of 1572.

Afternoon tea at Angelina. Something warm and indulgent when it's cold outside.
There’s something about cold weather in Paris that makes you long for something warm, luxurious and indulgent… The best Parisian spot to indulge in cold-weather treats is the exquisite tea house Angelina on Rue du Rivoli, once frequented by Coco Chanel and Proust. The perfect place to get together with friends over a cup of tea or chocolat chaud.
Coco Chanel was regularly seated at table #10. Reportedly, she was a daily customer just for the hot chocolate. The table is positioned next to one of the mirrors and her biographers have written how Mme Chanel loved mirrors and used them to coyly keep an eye on the world around her.
