My Angkor Adventure, Siem Reap, Cambodia [Part 1]
In my last Cambodia's travelogue video, I was volunteering as an English teacher, but of course, I got lots of time to travel around Siem Reap and Angkor. In this video, I will briefly showcase some of the buildings inside Angkor, one of the most mysterious place in the world. You will definitely regret if you have never visited in your life before we die! Narrative is in Cantonese only, will add some subtitle later on! Apologize for that!

Angkor Thom & Angkor Wat Temple Tips (Plus 1 secret!)
Angkor Thom & Angkor Wat Temple Tips (Plus 1 secret!)
What is the best order to see Angkor Wat and avoid the crowds? What are the MUST do temples? How to I organise an INDEPENDENT trip to Angkor Wat and make the most of my time there? Top tips, secrets and a look at what people get wrong about Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. This video is all about helping you make the most of YOUR trip around the angkor Wat Temples.
Siem Reap Guide:
Best Siem Read Accommodation
Emma lived in Cambodia for years and have been to Angkor Wat at least 12 times over the last 10 years, so I have a really good idea of what makes a great trip, how to best avoid the crowds and how to get the best photos.
Angkor Thom means “Big city” and refers to the larger complex of temples. Angkor Wat means “city temple” and is the main iconic temple in Angkor Thom. It is possible to see all of the main temples in a single day visit, but some people choose to stay longer.
Here are our top tips for enjoying Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom:
Buy your ticket the day before: Tickets are actually valid the evening before the day you plan to visit so that you can enjoy sunset the day before.
Pace yourself: The main temples to see are: Bayon, Angkor Thom and Ta Prohm (tomb raider temple). There are many less famous temples - so pick a few of these.
Wear bright colours: This will help you take epic photos for Insta :-) Remember the dress code - cover shoulders and knees. A thin scarf is very helpful.
Beat the crowds: If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle visit the less famous temples earlier in the day.
Top tip! Go to the south entrance of the main Angkor Wat temple for sunrise to avoid the crowds. Many people go to the pond near the west entrance- although this is very beautiful it can get SUPER crowded here.
Plan key times: Plan what you want to get from your trip. Here are some ideas: East Barai lake is a lovely quiet place for a beautiful sunset. Bakheng mountain temple for sunset is very busy - so arrive early if you want to do this.
Ticket prices:
$37 for a single day pass
$62 for a three-day pass
$72 for a weeklong pass
Getting around:
Tuk tuk: A fair price for a tuk tuk for one day is $15. You can find many tuk tuks around Siem Reap (especially near pub street) and agree on a price and timings with a driver. If you would like to go early for sunrise, it is worth finding a driver the day before and let them know where and when to meet. Remember it can take around an hour to get to Angkor Wat from Siem Reap - especially if you plan to buy your ticket in the morning. You can buy your ticket the day before and actually use the ticket to see sunset on the evening before your day trip. The ticket offices are on the way to the temples but quite a way out of town, so you will need to arrange transport to buy the ticket.
Bicycle: Bike rental is very cheap in Siem Reap. You can generally get a good bike for the day for a few dollars. Many hostels and guest houses offer bike rental. Because Siem Reap and the temple complex is pretty flat this is a nice way to see the temples.

Siem Reap Trip 2016 I Things To Do l Travel Guide, Tips Guide & Review
On April, we took a trip to Siem Reap. This video share some amazing footage of our trip. We spend about four days three nights in Siem Reap. It's our first time to Cambodia, and I just love this country. The people are warmth and friendly.
The country needs times to re-built since their civil war ended. But, this country is resilience and strong. Some hardworking people works relentlessly here. And the most beautiful and amazing things is Angkor Wat. People all over the world comes here for Angkor Wat. It's so beautiful and glorious. I think, our camera doesn't do justice to it. It was way more beautiful than the footage we captured.
It takes me forever to edit this video, and I hope you like it if you do, please do not forget to subscribe and like our video.

Siem Reap, Cambodia | Cinematic | 3day Adventure Trip
A 3 day adventure trip with my travel buddies Kara, Steph, Liezel and Xian Mike. Our first day tour package was booked through Klook and paid SGD89.68 for everything including the van and a local tour guide. The package was basically a backcountry tour that brought us to different temples within the Angkor Wat enterprise. On our second day we booked a tuktuk which was recommended by a friend. The third day was just actually a half day tour because our flight back to Singapore was at 3:55pm. Here are the details of the tour packages and contacts if you wish to visit Siem Reap:
*1st day|BANTEAY SREI BACKCOUNTRY TOUR/Group of 12 (SGD89.68) Klook
-8am hotel pick-up
-Pre rup temple
-Banteay Srei
-Lunch (not included and they will bring you to a resto that is quite pricey)
-East Mebon Temple
-Ta Som Temple
-Preah Khan Temple
-5pm hotel drop off
*2nd day and 3rd Tour by Tuk-Tuk (Keo:+85570556123)
You can choose what other temples you want to go but they will bring you first to Angkor Wat for the sunrise and if you are lucky you'll get to see an amazing sunrise. They'll pick you up at the hotel at 4:30am.
Note: Most of the temples are within the Angkor Wat Enterprise premises so it is a must to get an Angkor Pass. 1day Pass - USD37; 3day Pass - USD62; 7day Pass - USD72. The official currency of Cambodia is Riel but you can use USD beacuse it is the defacto currency of the countey. Establishments and even in their public transpo uses USD as well in most of their transactions.
Alternative Angkor: Siem Reap beyond the temples
The Temples of Angkor are an iconic symbol of Southeast Asia and rightly Cambodia's top attraction. But Siem Reap, gateway to Angkor, offers much more than temples and is emerging as an activity centre for the Mekong region. With microlight flights, ziplining, cooking classes, horse-riding, the circus and more, there is plenty to keep temple-weary travellers occupied.
1- Ziplining among the gibbons
Go ape on a jungle-canopy zipline adventure that offers the opportunity to glimpse some recently released gibbons in their natural habitat. Flight of the Gibbon Angkor (treetopasia.com) operates 10 ziplines linked together by wooden ‘sky bridges’. The highest point of the course reaches to 50m, with views as far north as the holy mountain of Phnom Kulen. The safety standards here are world class: a monkey business without the monkeying around.
2-Microlight flights over Angkor
For the ultimate bird’s-eye view of the temples of Angkor, take to the skies in a microlight with Above Angkor (aerocambodia.com). There is a range of panoramic flights on offer, including viewing the temples of Roluos (the early Angkor capital of Hariharalaya) and the floating villages of Tonlé Sap lake. Longer flight options include seeing all the major temples, and a ‘see it all’ flight for one hour over the ancient capital of the Khmer empire.
2-Quad-biking tours
Explore the beautiful Siem Reap countryside by all-terrain vehicle (ATV) on a sunset tour through the rice fields with Quad Adventure Cambodia. If you thought quad bikes were only for petrol heads, think again – here they are perfect for negotiating the dirt roads, and local children greet you like a rock star as you ride slowly through the villages. Longer rides go deep into the Cambodian countryside and include a stop at some remote, seldom-visited temples.
3- Cooking classes and tuk tuks
If managing a quad bike sounds a little daunting, let a driver take the strain and join a Cooks in Tuk Tuks culinary class to discover the best of Cambodian cooking. Start out with a visit to the local market, by tuk tuk of course, to learn some bargaining skills while helping purchase the fresh ingredients for the class. Dishes include a banana-flower salad starter, the national dish of fish amok, and a sago, pumpkin and coconut milk dessert.
Cooking fish amok.
4-Siem Reap by Vespa
Four wheels bad, two wheels good? Then try buzzing around Siem Reap on a Vespa, the classic Italian scooter. Cambodia Vespa Adventures (cambodiavespaadventures.com) takes visitors deep into the rice fields to engage with the local people on an all-day Countryside Life Tour. Or spend the evening tasting Cambodian cuisine around Siem Reap on the After Dark Foodie Tour.
Ride a Vespa through the Cambodian countryside.
5-Horse-riding trails
Choose a different sort of horsepower altogether and opt for a four-legged ride through fields and quiet villages. The Happy Ranch offers one- to four-hour trail rides taking in the Cambodian scenery, visiting some beautiful off-the-beaten-path spots. Some obscure temples are included in the longer rides, such as Wat Chedi, an old pagoda sitting imperiously above a sea of emerald-green rice fields.
6-Phare, the Cambodian circus
This innovative contemporary Cambodian circus comes to town every night, thanks to a traditional big-top home behind the Angkor National Museum. Modern morality tales meet traditional circus skills of acrobatics, contortion and juggling to create memorable shows, such as ‘Eclipse’, ‘The Adventure’ and ‘Panic’. Many of the young-adult performers come from under-privileged backgrounds in Battambang and Siem Reap and have gone on to entertain audiences worldwide.
Performers in Phare, the Cambodian Circus.
7-Miniature-golfing the temples
While the serious golfers make for the Nick Faldo–designed Angkor Golf Resort, mini-golf fans prefer to fine-tune their putting skills at the Angkor Wat Putt. Most of the 14 holes are designed as Angkor temples, including petite Banteay Srei and mountain-top Prasat Preah Vihear. Pint-sized replicas are one way to ensure that children can enjoy the temples without getting tired, and adults win a free beer for a hole-in-one.
8-Shopping for a cause
For socially responsible shopping at its most sophisticated, tour the extensive workshops of Artisans d’Angkor. Here you can learn how the enterprise has helped reinvigorate the handicraft industries of Siem Reap, which were devastated by the long years of civil war. Visitors are guided to watch students recreating Angkorian sculpture from stone, painting fine lacquer and producing intricate silverware. The onsite gallery is a stunning showcase of the students’ skills and the stylish souvenirs offer a sustainable choice to shopaholics.
9-See Cambodian wildlife
For a close-up look at Cambodia’s threatened wildlife, take a trip to the Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity (ACCB; accb-cambodia.org).

Angkor is completely worth the hype! It's conveniently located close to Siem Reap (which is like a small Bangkok). Check out pub street for a party scene similar to Khao San Road. Authentic food is far and between but we're listing our top 2 pics below (don't judge on the Korean BBQ...)
If time is what you are worried about; you can easily see 4-8 temples with a 1 day pass. You WILL need to get a Tuk Tuk to pull that off. Daily rentals are between $15-$20. Don't miss the sunrise at Angkor Wat and make sure you pick a spot on the south pond as the north gets extremely packed!
Temple Times:
Angkor Wat (Daytime): 4:00 -5:50
Ta Prohm Temple: 5:52 - 7:10
Angkor Wat (Sunrise): 8:05 -9:52
Angkor Thom/Bayon Temple: 10:06 -10:53

Quick Tips Siem Reap, Cambodia - Visa, Currency, Tuk Tuk, and Other Helpful Travel Tips
Travel tips for traveling to Siem Reap, Cambodia
Follow me on Instagram to stay up to date with my adventures: @rhanzpants
Travel Tips:
1. Visa - go to the link below to apply for a Visa online. For the photo just take one using your phone against a white background and upload to the online application.
2. Immigration - once you get to the terminal head towards immigration desks and to the left of that area you will find a table with arrival and departure forms, which look like small packets on my video. The airlines did not give me one during the flight, which they typically would.
3. Currency - bring a lot of US dollars, especially singles. Most things you buy will be in the $2-$3 range. Don't bring anything greater than a $20 bill.
4. Tuk Tuk - definitely hire one from beginning to end and if you do reach out to my driver Pi Bak (Facebook link below) who can be reached on WhatsApp. He can pick you up from the airport for $5 and can take you around all day for about $20.
5. Where to stay - I stayed at La Da Kiri Hotel below. Hotel was ok but very close to all the night markets. I recommend looking for hotels around this area at about 2-3 blocks away from the markets.
6 & 7. Night Markets and where to eat - Eat at the Night Markets! Check out the two main night markets below.
Angkor Night Market

8. Temples - Check out the link below. Pace yourself! You need to buy a ticket which gets you in to all the temples. I was able to do all in one day but you can do multi-day tickets. Don't recommend doing the tour in the link, rather just get a tuk tuk to take you to each place.
9. What to Wear - shorts and t-shirt, it's hot! A towel for when it gets hot walking around. light scarf and sunglasses during the tuk tuk ride, it can get dusty.
10. Tipping - appreciated but not expected.

Our Story
Life is crazy! The tide smashes even the best-laid plans to sand… and so it goes!
This is a story about two people, who met by chance, were bound by fate and who continue to let the quirky side of life guide their paths! How else could a young man from a tiny town in Albania and a farm girl from the mountains of Montana meet in the middle, with a life guided by adventure?
We met in Rome. Engjell was a waiter in a little Roman restaurant down by Trevi Fountain and I was a student abroad, spending a year in the Eternal City. There are some pretty cheesy movies about the giggly American girl meeting the handsome foreigner abroad, who then spend all their time bombing around ancient ruins on a shiny moped, hair blowing in the wind and smiles from ear to ear. And yet… serendipity delivers! We did fall in love and he did have a moped…
In 2006, we moved back to the United States. We returned as a family of three, as little Fiona had been born in Rome at FateBeneFratelli, the hospital on an island… where all the Roman babies have been born for centuries! We moved often, looking for the perfect place. In 2010, we found an opportunity to open our own restaurant in Bigfork, Montana. We spent seven years and thousands of hours bringing the flavors of Italy to rural Montana. We were doing well! We were successful and busy and had finally bought our own home… we had a mortgage and car payments and a full-time, ultra-demanding job! We opened a second restaurant! We even added two more family members with the addition of Hugo and Remy!
We were living the dream! Or were we? On the outside, it looked like we had it all… that success had reached out its hand and we had graciously accepted. But in reality, we were working 80-100 hours each per week, we rarely saw our three beautiful kids who knew the nanny better than they did us, and we were burned out… from too much work, from too little time spent together as a family, from life! We had bought into the well-oiled idea of success and were realizing quickly the fatal flaws in our plan.
So we decided, together, to give it all up! We took the giant, terrifying, leap and sold it all to travel on a shoestring budget and let life teach us again, teach us anew, of what it looks like to be a successful human being! We are just beginning on this wonderful adventure! We have been traveling the U.S. for a year as a family in a motorhome. We are every day astounded by the diversity and creativity of both humans and Mother Nature. In July, we will set off for a one year trip around the world!
This time, too, food and wine lead our adventure. We hope to dig deep into every culture as we go, unearthing culinary tradition everywhere we go! We plan to travel to places where we can stage and work in restaurants and vineyards to learn more and to ultimately be able to take what we have learned and start fresh…inspired, changed… wherever we end up.
This trip is about re-defining success! It is about food and wine…about a plate of pasta or a shared bottle of wine, about experiences! It is about family and figuring out how we all fit together and what life’s REAL plan for us is! We invite you to join us in this crazy adventure as we travel the world!
