Cambodian Food Tour in Siem Reap!
Another souvenir from my latest trip to Asia, sorry took a while to get it out to you! I finally made it to Cambodia. I went with an intention to see Angkor Wat, but I was almost more excited to experience the cuisine. Cambodia and Thailand have access to the same ingredients and share very similar roots, so I was very interested to see in what ways the two cuisines are similar and different.
I was so lucky to have a wonderful tour guide, Sam of SR Group, because he himself is a foodie, and happens to also be a fan of Hot Thai Kitchen! Obviously, we had no shortage of great food during this trip. Hope you enjoy the video and thank you for watching!

Exploring Angkor Wat at the Temples of Angkor, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia
Early in the morning we left our Cambodian guesthouse at 5 am to head off by tuk-tuk to explore the magnificent Angkor Wat located in Angkor (Temples of Angkor), Siem Reap Province, Cambodia. Although we arrived while it was still dark outside we were hardly the only ones here to witness the sunset, as tourists came in by the bus and autorickshaw load to capture this stunning temple during hours most would still be sleeping. We initially found a nice spot to take the classic 'pond shot' before it became too overcrowded. From there we stated walking into the temple for a more up close and intimate view. We marveled at sheer size of the entire complex - the moat itself giving indication of how significant a place this once was and still is today. We took our time examining the bas-relief carvings and intricate details that are apparent only when viewed close up in person.

Finally on the way out we reflect on our experiences. Audrey was impressed as this was her very first visit. Even though Samuel has been 4 times he still gets goosebumps every single time. Although visiting in April, when it's the hottest time of the year in Cambodia, wasn't the wisest decision, we still managed to move around without feeling too dehydrated. For those looking to visit the temples without the mass crowds we suggest coming around lunch time when most package tourists are either templed out or having lunch. It's amazing how much better an experience it is when you're not bumping shoulders with others.
Angkor Wat (Khmer: អង្គរវត្ត) is the largest Hindu temple complex and the largest religious monument in the world. The temple was built by the king Suryavarman II in the early 12th century in Yasodharapura (Khmer: យសោធរបុរៈ, present-day Angkor), the capital of the Khmer Empire, as his state temple and eventual mausoleum. Breaking from the Shaivism tradition of previous kings, Angkor Wat was instead dedicated to Vishnu. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious centre since its foundation -- first Hindu, then Buddhist. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia,[1] appearing on its national flag, and it is the country's prime attraction for visitors.
Angkor Wat combines two basic plans of Khmer temple architecture: the temple mountain and the later galleried temple, based on early Dravidian Architecture, with key features such as the Jagati. It is designed to represent Mount Meru, home of the devas in Hindu mythology: within a moat and an outer wall 3.6 kilometres (2.2 mi) long are three rectangular galleries, each raised above the next. At the centre of the temple stands a quincunx of towers. Unlike most Angkorian temples, Angkor Wat is oriented to the west; scholars are divided as to the significance of this. The temple is admired for the grandeur and harmony of the architecture, its extensive bas-reliefs, and for the numerous devatas adorning its walls.
The modern name, Angkor Wat, means Temple City or City of Temples in Khmer; Angkor, meaning city or capital city, is a vernacular form of the word nokor (នគរ), which comes from the Sanskrit word nagara (नगर).[2] Wat is the Khmer word for temple grounds, derived from the Pali word vatta (वत्त).[3] Prior to this time the temple was known as Preah Pisnulok (Vara Vishnuloka in Sanskrit), after the posthumous title of its founder:

Siem Reap, Angkor Wat temple tour - Cambodia Part 1
King Rock Boutique Hotel is excellent value for your money, located 5-10 minutes away, by foot, from the famous night market and Pub street. And 15 minutes away from Angkor Wat.
Our tour guide Sam was incredible, he was kind, accommodating and gave us many insights about the temples and Cambodian culture. The pictures he took of us are worth millions.
We Paid $180 for 4 people including an air-conditioned van/ driver and tour guide. They will provide water and cold towels for you. Having AC and water is a great perk since most of the places in Siem reap do not have air conditioners.
(Temple entrance fee is NOT included)
Cambodia's weather is extremely humid so make sure to bring bottled water, sunblock or umbrella if you feel the need to use one. For women, when you go inside the temple make sure that your legs and arms are covered, so wear something conservative.

Visit to Angkor Wat from Siem Reap
My day trip from Siem Reap to Angkor Wat temple. Starts with picking up your Angkor Pass to explore the ruins and then the entire journey through exploring Angkor Wat. The place is absolutely amazing but also full of people - get there early if you can to beat the crowds and the heat.

Angkor Guide Sopanha: Koh Ker and Beng Mealea Tours
Koh Ker (Khmer: ប្រាសាទកោះកេរ្ដិ៍) is an Angkorian site in northern Cambodia. 120 km northeast of Angkor itself, it was briefly the capital of the Khmer empire between 928 and 944 under king Jayavarman IV and his son Hasavarman II.After the Khmer empire had been established in the Angkor area (Roluos), Jayavarman IV moved the capital in 928 almost 120 km northeast to Koh Ker. Here a vast number of temples were built under his reign, until his successor returned to the Angkor area about twenty years later.
The Koh Ker site is dominated by Prasat Thom, a 30 meter tall temple mountain raising high above the plain and the surrounding forest. Great views await the visitor at the end of an adventurous climb. Garuda, carved into the stone blocks, still guard the very top, although they are partially covered now.
In late 2011 the remote location drew media attention worldwide when Sotheby's, an auction house specializing in the antiquities trade, attempted to sell a statue of a mythic Khmer Empire warrior. In March 2012 the US and Cambodian governments filed court documents to seize the statue that they purport was illegally removed from the site. A twin statue, also linked to the Koh Ker site, is on display at the Norton Simon Museum in California.
Across the site of Koh Ker there are many prasat or tower sanctuaries. A couple still feature an enormous linga on a yoni that provides space for several people. The outlet for the water that was sanctified by running it over the linga can be seen in the outside wall of one of them. In other cases, three prasat stand next to each other, dedicated to Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu. Most of them are surrounded by libraries and enclosures, many also had moats. At that time, the roofs were still made of wood. Today, only the holes for the beams remain in the stone structures.
The site is still 3 hours away from Siem Reap, the area has been demined only recently and basic visitors' facilities are just being built. This makes Koh Ker very attractive for anyone who would like to experience lonely temples partially overgrown by the forest and inhabited only by birds, calling to each other from the trees above.
YOU HAVE TO VISIT ANGKOR WAT! | Siem Reap, Cambodia | Angkor Thom, Tomb Raider
Angkor Wat is a must see when traveling through Cambodia, but we were afraid it would just be too touristy, crowded and hard to really enjoy. Boy were we wrong! The history and beauty of Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and the Tomb Raider tomb completely blew us away ????

Cambodia - Siem Reap - Cinematic Vlog 14
After Thailand, Cambodia was the next destination on my list, I started in Siem Reap, Cambodia's main tourist destination, where most of the famous temples are located. it costs $37 U.S dollars to purchase a day pass to Angkor Wat and other temples. Siem Reap also has some crazy nightlife and a famous street called pub street where you can't have a bad time. I stayed at the Funky flash packers hostel and mad monkey hostels when travelling Siem reap where i met lots of amazing people. Travelling from Thailand to Cambodia is as simple as booking a bus from Bangkok to Siem Reap. New videos on the way! Peace!
