This is the First video of the Cambodia Series. We first reached at Siem Ream and this is the first evening. We went to the night market and then to the Pub Street. We went for IceCream rolls which costed us 2USD.
We also went for Foot Massage (6 USD for 1 hour). The foot massage was kinda OK. Nothing great.
Then we had our dinner in a local Khemr Restaurant and that was pretty reasonable. It costed us 17USD for 2 people including beer.

We stayed at a resort named BB Angkor Green Resort.

Angkor Night Market ( Siem Reap Cambodia )
After you had your fill of temples and pampered yourself at the various spas no doubt you’ll be ending your trip with some shopping in Siem Reap, well we wouldn’t blame you and we’re happy to suggest some places for which you can indulge in some retail therapy.
Originally founded in 2007 the Angkor night market is just a stone’s throw away from Siem Reap’s famous Pub Street area. The night market is completely geared to tourists and is packed full of souvenirs stalls. The usual clothes that you find in all markets including the famous baggy elephant print trousers that so many tourists adorn as well as jewellery and local handicrafts.
If you’ve never been before then it’s worth a visit during your time in Siem Reap.
This is of course a great place to try out your bargaining skills and there is a bar inside if you fancy a quick break from all that shopping.
If you are looking for somewhere with a lot of atmosphere then the Angkor Night market does lag a bit behind places like Pub Street for example, however it’s always work taking a look for yourself and living it, loving it and sharing your experiences with us.

Cambodian NIGHT MARKET: Siem Reap, Cambodia
SUPPORT ME! (^_^): Let us be your guide around the Night Market of Siem Reap, Cambodia! (^_^)
You’ll likely never have to ask for help as many people will try to get your attention and show you what they have for sale or lead you into their shop. We’d just politely say, “No thank you” and move along if we weren’t interested and they would often move onto the next person.
During one particular haggling session Joe came up with the idea to discuss the next price we’d be willing to offer to each other in Japanese so hopefully they wouldn’t understand and we could make sure we were both comfortable with the prices.
But we quickly learned that the best way to get the price you want is to simply start walking away. If it honestly it’s offensively low, they’ll likely say ok to keep you there to make the sale.
These days eating these creepy crawlies is mostly a tourist based industry. Although we did see locals eating some crickets in another part of the country. However, these edible spiders are only found in forests which are in major danger in Cambodia and since we didn’t know how these animals were sourced, and they no longer seemed like a part of the local cuisine, we passed on trying them ourselves.
We ended up buying a painting by a local artist and since it was an oil painting and due to the humidity, we had to be really careful with it because it didn’t dry for almost a week!
Inside the market, there’s a wide variety of goods you can purchase, from all types of clothing and accessories like scarves and bags, to locally made toys, artwork, and painted coconut shells and so much more.
Aside from the stuffed elephant and Joe’s elephant pants, we bought these decorative bowls made from coconuts for our friends back in Japan. And this is the painting I mentioned earlier. It depicts some incredible parts of our journeys around Cambodia.
The clothing was so cheap we couldn’t resist honestly, so we also got these and lastly, I bought a few pairs of a different kind of pants for the rest of our travels here in Cambodia and south east asia.
These pants were different than Joes because they wrapped around you and therefore had this opening. We got them for $3 each and I LOVE them! They’re so comfy. These were silk versions of the same style made from local silk worms here in Cambodia. They were $7. Everything we bought was made in Cambodia. Everything we bought, we haggled for so you may be able to get them cheaper. This tank top was only $2. Joe got a couple of pairs of elephant pants for $4 each and his shirt for $2 as well.

Night Markets in Siem Reap, Cambodia
The Angkor Night Market offers a hassle free, enjoyable, safe shopping experience in a Cambodian-inspired setting. Angkor Night Market is a one-stop-shop for your evenings out in Siem Reap. Angkor Night Market also offers wheelchair access, clean toilets on site, fire prevention and fire fighting systems on site for a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
The best night markets in Siem Reap are concentrated within the downtown area, offering a wide range of fair-trade handicrafts and fresh produce at affordable prices. Open daily, Siem Reap’s vibrant markets are great for purchasing authentic Cambodian craftsmanship such as stone carvings, silverware, lacquer figurines, ceramics, and silks, with proceeds going to local Khmer people. Great for those looking to experience the town’s unique culture and history, these outdoor shopping venues often host live music performances, and interesting workshops that suit visitors of all ages. As with most local markets in Southeast Asia, make sure you bargain hard before purchasing as most items are priced significantly higher for tourists. Read on for our compilation of Siem Reap’s most popular local markets.

Cambodia: An evening in Siem Reap. Pub Street, restaurants & night market (art, clothes & souvenirs)
Fifth video in my mini Cambodia Travel Video series to show you Siem Reap, Angkor Wat and some of the temples and tourist sights around Angkor City. This video shows you Siem Reap at night.
After a day in the forest hiking and exploring temples I am hungry and return to the centre of Siem Reap to look for food.
Parts of Siem Reap town centre are pedestrianised at night, the town is lit up at night and really comes alive.
Pub Street in Siem Reap is full of restaurants, but it is also full of people. If you are looking for something a little quieter there there are some streets nearby which also have good restaurants and are a little quieter. On my last night in Siem Reap I found a BBQ place with live music down a side street. Cost was US$7 for a 1/4 chicken with chips and a mango juice.

If you would like to hunt for souvenirs by the evening light, this market is a great choice with a lot of merchandise. The place offers everything any other market does, except that it operates during hours that are a little unusual for its competitors. It was the first night market opened in Cambodia.
