This is a tour through the Angkor Silk Farm in the Puok district in Siem Reap, Cambodia. It shows the process of growing silk worms, cultivating the silk, and then converting it into threads that are weaved by hand into patterns.

Located in the gorgeous Cambodian countryside close to the internationally renowned Angkor temples, the Angkor Silk farm offers an enthralling visit in the world of silk farming and weaving.Free guided tours allow the visitors to discover the whole process of silk-making, from the mulberry bushes cultivation to the silkworm farming, cocoon unwinding, silk threads reeling and dyeing, until the meticulous and captivating weaving part!
Angkor Silk Farm is open daily from 8am to 5.30pm.

Artisant angkor | Silk farm workshop in siem reap Angkor province.
Artisans Angkor is a Cambodian social business creating job opportunities for young people in rural areas, while reviving traditional Khmer craftsmanship (stone and wood carving, painting on statues and on silk, lacquering, and silver plating).[1]
The organisation, founded in 1992, is located on Stung Thmey Street, 2 minutes walk from the Old Market in Siem Reap center, Cambodia.
Two sites are open to the public in Siem Reap – one specializing in crafts located on Stung Thmey Street and the other specializing in silk at the Angkor Silk Farm (20mins drive from Siem Reap center, in Puok district).[2] Seven shops selling handmade items made by Artisans Angkor can be found in Siem Reap center, at the Angkor Silk Farm, at the Angkor Café in front of Angkor Wat temple, in Phnom Penh city center and in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh International Airport as well.

Once the silk worms eat enough, the worms start making their cocoons and then rest inside. The worms think they're going to have an undisturbed sleep and later metamorphize into beautiful butterflies. Once the cocoon is at the right age, they are 'harvested' and sent to the factory. There, the cocoons are boiled in order to make it easier to pull the silk threads.

The Angkor Silk Farm, Travel Cambodia
Angkor Silk Farm belongs to Artisans Angkor is a social-business enterprise aiming at reviving Khmer cultural heritage while giving job opportunities to young Cambodians living in rural areas. There is the eight-hectare farm give a unique insight into the different stages involved in silk production, from the mulberry tree orchards, silkworm breeding, the spinning mills and the dying and weaving processes in the very traditional way. You will discover the different steps of the silk production process, from the cocoon to the scarves, and the Silk Museum as well, they offer Cambodian guides, they will explain you detail in your own language like English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Japanese or Khmer. It's about 15 Kilometers from Siem Reap city located in Puok district. They also have a souvenir shop where visitors can buy some souvenirs, clothes, and other products. Angkor Silk Farm opens from 08:00 AM until 05:00 PM.
