5 Tips for Wild Camping in England (VLOG 18)
Here are 5 tips for wild camping in England, well maybe not tips, but certainly five pieces of advice that help me to wild camp in England. The first tip can be controversial, but it helps me to get in the mindset for camping on any land. If you follow the laws and courtesy's (for wild camping) to the letter, you would probably never wild camp in the first place. All that aside, there is one place in England that is a great place for a first time wild camp, and that is the Dartmoor national park. Thanks to the DNPA, they have granted permission to wild camp in this amazing moorland. Thanks for watching & good luck!

Lake District (day 3) Great Langdale and Lake Windermere | EP. 26

5 Summits from Great Langdale, Lake District (9th July 2017)
9th July 2017
So I am on a mission this year to bag the 10 highest summits in England using the Hewitt list. After Cross Fell I was up to 5/10 but this hike would allow me to bag 4 more summits in one walk but all of the reports I had read up to now made this a hard, long walk. While most people do this walk as a Wainwright bagging session heading to Scafell Pike and missing out Ill Crag and often Broad Crag... I had already bagged Scafell Pike about 4 weeks ago (see: but needed the other 3 summits at the back of it (Great End, Ill Crag, and Broad Crag).
By coming back via Esk Pike it allowed to me to bag another top 10 summit, Bowfell. Most accounts, of this route via Scafell Pike give an estimated time of 13-14 hours... so despite a gammy knee that I am off to hospital on Wednesday morning to see the physio about, I needed to do this walk while I still had the daylight hours. So I started off at 8am with two poles instead of my usual one pole to give my knee some extra support. I arrived at Angle Tarn at 11am on schedule having to stop frequently to allow returning wild campers to pass me by on the steps. At Angle Tarn I took the wrong path towards Ore Gap instead of Esk Hause... luckily I realised my mistake and headed up via Tongue Head. I had completed Great End, Ill Crag, and Broad Crag by 2pm having to once more stop frequently to allow a marathon race to pass by near Esk Hause. After a spot of lunch, I headed up Esk Pike where one of my walking poles began to disintegrate.
There is some confusion as to which is the correct summit on Esk Pike... so I bagged them both. Personally I think the rock I sat on is the correct summit... but a fellow hiker I met at the summit insisted it was the cairn.
I arrived at Bowfell just behind schedule at 4:15pm and made it down to Three Tarns by 4:30pm where I got talking for almost half an hour with a fellow traveler from India called Jack who kindly gave me a signed personalised book to carry down the mountain... thanks Jack, could've done without the extra weight on a 3+ mile hike off a mountain but I appreciate the kind gesture nonetheless.
Arrived back at the car around 7pm and after a brief break headed home. 9/10 done... only Great Gable left to do.

Lake District Country Walk Great Langdale Bow Fell from Dungeon Ghyll round
Our video is a guided walk in the Lake District from Dungeon Ghyll to Bow Fell via The Band. Our return route takes us to Angle Tarn then down to the Mickleden valley to pick up the Cumbria Way following Mickleden Beck. This is a hard walk on mainly good paths and tracks except the ascent from the Three Tarns towards Bow Fell summit is very slippery with loose rocks and also the descent from Ore Gap to Angle Tarn is a little vague in places. Elevation: Approx lowest point 90.20m (296 ft) approx highest point 893.20m (2930.45ft). Approx 8.6 miles allow 4½ to 5½ hours using OS Explorer Map OL6, The English Lakes, South-Western area. Start point: Dungeon Ghyll National Trust car park half a mile west of Chapel Stile. For more info and facilities please see our website.

Great langdale national trust campsite was a great place as always to spend in the wind and the rain waiting out the storms. However today is time to go to Angle tarn for a wild camp on the coast to coast route. First got bus from Great langdale to Ambleside. From Ambleside i got the bus to Keswick. Then a bus from Keswick to Penrith. I got the Patterdale bus from Penrith rail station stand. Got of the bus near the Hotel from here it was a few km walk up to Angle tarn i got some snow before i put the tent up and some more snow in the night. Wet horrible cold snow. Not nice dry snow.
