A Visit to the Pontcysyllte Aquduct
The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is a navigable aqueduct that carries the Llangollen Canal over the valley of the River Dee in Wrexham County Borough in north-east Wales. Completed in 1805, it is the longest and highest aqueduct in Britain, and a World Heritage Site.
When the bridge was built it linked the villages of Froncysyllte, at the southern end of the bridge in the Cysyllte township of Llangollen parish (from where it takes its name), and Trevor at the northern end of the bridge in the Trefor Isaf township of Llangollen parish.
The name is in the Welsh language and means Cysyllte Bridge. For most of its existence it was known as Pont y Cysyllte (Bridge of Cysyllte).
I visited in late May of 2015.

Narrowboating the Llangollen Canal
This video celebrates a week narrowboating, biking, and hiking along one of the loveliest waterways in the U.K. The Llangollen Canal winds for 88 miles from its source at Horseshoe Falls near the charming northern Welsh mountain town of Llangollen, where water is diverted from the River Dee, to Hurleston Junction in pastoral England. Here the Hurleston Locks connect the Llangollen with the Shropshire Union Canal. Seen at the helm are John Shepard, Suzanne Brust and John Hadfield.
