ANTENNA HILL and ANGONO-BINANGONAN PETROGLYPHS | Cycling Philippines
CORRECTION!!!
Hindi pa pala City ang Cainta, sorry sa maling info.
ANTENNA HILL is a mountain biking destination near Manila. Located at San Carlos Heights, Brgy. Tayuman, Binangonan, Rizal. A technical trail can be found at the summit of the hill, playground for all pro mountain bikers.
The ANGONO-BINANGONAN PETROGLYPHS is the oldest known work of art in the Philippines. The site is located in the province of Rizal. There are 127 human and animal figures engraved on the rockwall probably carved during the late Neolithic, or before 2000 BC. These inscriptions clearly show stylized human figures, frogs and lizards, along with other designs that may have depicted other interesting figures but erosion may have caused it to become indistinguishable. The engravings are mostly symbolic representations and are associated with healing and sympathetic magic.
The site has been declared by the National Museum of the Philippines as a National Cultural Treasure in 1973. It is also included in the list of the World Inventory of Rock Art in 1985 and historic sites of the World Monuments Watch and World Monuments Funds[3] and part of the Philippines' tentative list of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Oldest Art in the Philippines: The Angono - Binangonan Petroglyphs
Truly a National Treasure!
Hope you enjoy my simple unplanned trip to one of the oldest historical sites in the Philippines.
It is called Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs because of it's location: the boundary of the two provinces in Rizal; Sharing the rock wall art.
The trip includes my friend, Billy and
our friendly tricycle driver, Joseph, whom we are very thankful for inviting us to stop by to the site.

My friends and I decided to visit the 5,000 year old Petroglyphs in the border of Angono and Binangonan, Rizal.
Discovered by national artist Carlos Botong Francisco, the Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs is the oldest know artwork in the Philippines dating back to the Neolithic age.
The rock shelter is now a historical site and is one of the most visited place in Rizal.
Knowing that such archaeological wonder is just a bike ride away fascinates me, so I invited my friends for a ride to the Petroglyphs, It was a crazy weather as rain poured and the sun heating us up alternately but it was all worth it.

Hi. My name is Carlo. I'm an educator by profession but a digital entrepreneur by passion. I work as a Guidance Counselor on weekdays and an entrepreneur after work and during weekends. I own 2 bike shops which started out of my hobby - cycling.
As a bike shop owner for the past four years, I have encountered hundreds of cycling newbies who have struggled to find the right bike for them because of the lack of information about bikes, parts and accessories available in our local cycling industry. This channel aims to fill that void.

3000 Year Old Petroglyphs in the Philippines!
My friend Bryan invited us to go see the Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs with him. I was hesitant at first but after we got there it was actually pretty cool. Crazy thing is that only 20% of Filipino's even know they are here. I'm happy to do this video and help spread some historical stuff around. Gotta admit we enjoyed it and had a good day : )

PETROGLYPHS - ANGONO BINANGONAN RIZAL [KaTruepa Travels]
The Angono Petroglyphs Site Museum is situated at the municipality of Binangonan, province of Rizal, three and a half kilometers southeast of the town of Angono. It was discovered in 1965 by National Artist, Carlos “Botong” Francisco during a field trip with a troop of boy scouts. He reported to the National Museum the existence of a cave with drawings of a primitive quality.
In October 1965, a National Museum interdisciplinary research team headed by archaeologist Alfredo Evangelista recovered four stone tools from the site. Subsequent excavations in the cave and its vicinities also yielded fragments of earthenware, obsidian flakes and shells. Jesus Peralta, an anthropologist and former Assistant Director of the National Museum, brought the Angono Petroglyphs to the public’s attention through his research. To heighten consciousness on the cultural value of the site, the National Museum in 1998, established a museum showcasing the cultural and artistic heritage of the province of Rizal.
