Discover Asia's Spiritual Heart in Tibet
The region of Tibet has become a byword for spirituality, with Buddhism reflected in nearly every aspect of its art and culture. Centuries-old monasteries still ring with the early morning chants of monks and prayer flags flap in the wind against a background of majestic peaks and blue skies.
Lhasa is the cultural heart of Tibet, and many of the most spectacular sites you see in the region with Abercrombie & Kent are here, including Potala Palace, the traditional home of the Dalai Lama. Beyond the massive seventeenth-century structure that houses more than 1,000 rooms and 10,000 shrines, visit Sanggye Dhungu, where hundreds of Buddha statues are carved into a cliff wall. With A&K, get under the skin of Tibet's deeply spiritual and ancient culture by bearing witness to monks raucously debating over Buddhism at the Sera Monastery and meeting the nuns of Ani Tsankhung Nunnery.
A journey to Tibet with A&K is an eye-opening experience in a region little visited by the ordinary traveller. Discover its heart and soul on a journey to the Roof of the World.

Debating monks in the Sera Monastry in Lhasa Tibet (2)

Sponsor a Nun
Many nuns have fled Tibet in search of a better life. Some are lucky to be alive. Many are orphans. Some nunneries are over crowded and can't sustain all the costs on their own. They rely on donations to help the nuns have the basic essentials. Your donations help greatly to cover the costs of food, medicine, schooling and living expenses. Sponsor a nun today and make a difference in the life of one of these beautiful young women.
