Dabhosa Waterfall - 3:29 |||| Pandav Caves - 5:47
So during our stay, we decided to explore some of the beautiful hills and waterfall in and around Nasik.
We started with the famous Anjaneri hills which is believed to be the birth place of Lord Hanuman and is named after his mother Anjani.
To reach the foothills you have to cross through the Anjaneri village and drive for another 400 meters uphill to park your vehicle, this is where the footsteps start.
It takes around 15-20 min to reach the plateau area through the steps, be extra careful as the steps can be quite slippery during monsoon.
The view while climbing is just stunning.
After the steps, there is this stretch of plateau area which is covered with clouds if you come early enough.
Here you would also find a lake with some historical significance.
There is another 15-20 min of climbing to do, to reach the temple at the top of the hill.
The clouds just added to the beauty, it is truly a paradise during monsoon.
And finally, we could see the temple accompanied with a small food stall where they severed tea, biscuits, and pakodas.
The weather was absolutely gorgeous we decided to spend some more time before descending down.
The next day we decided to cover one of the waterfalls called the Dabhosa Waterfall, it is around 75 km from Nasik, and riding through the Trimbak and Jawahar road in the rain and mist was super adventurous.
It was raining cats and dogs and the roads turned into a nature lovers paradise.
There are plenty of small waterfalls on the way and we decided to stop on few of them.
Carrying your own food is the best idea as there are not many shops on the way.
Finally, we reached the waterfall after a long ride..it is larger than life my camera doesn't do justice to the scale of the waterfall, it was worth the long drive.
A word of advice the best time to visit this waterfall is monsoon, other seasons it is not as huge.
The last 5-6 km the roads are not very well maintained and the steps that descend towards the waterfall are broken and can be very slippery so be careful.
It was a day well spent and we headed back truly content.
Our next day's destination was the Pandav caves they are one of the tourist attraction of Nasik.
They have steps build to reach the caves but most of the locals prefer the trekking trail, as it offers the raw experience of nature.
It was beautiful windy morning with light drizzles every now and then, this is where the caves are situated you could trek your way to the top as well,
This caves were carved for the Buddhist monks and have nothing to do with the mythological character of Pandavs from Mahabharata, these are one of the oldest caves of Maharashtra.
The cave has idols of Buddha, sculptures representing the King, farmers, merchants and rich iconography depicting a beautiful amalgamation of Indo - Greek architecture.
Just got influenced by the surroundings :D :P
These are the 3 places we could explore during our trip though there are many more places that we missed this time and hope to cover it in our next trip.

To reach Anjaneri temple, you have to cross three mountains. When we crossed the fort, we crossed the first mountain and came on second. Top of the second mountain is a plain area and you need to walk around 1 KM to reach to the Indra Sarovar Lake.
03. Ashoka Waterfall / vihigaon waterfall
Best time to visit is in Monsoon...Peaceful and Lush green Places around it. This is a beautiful place in Vihigaon near Igatpuri.
From he Mumbai Nashik highway, one needs to take the inner winding roads to reach the spot if the waterfalls. There is a further trek ahead and it's advisable not to take adults and children as the route is steep and slippery.
Once you reach the water inside,it's a lovely experience and worth all the effort taken to get here.
04. Harihar Fort
Steep and challenging... I presume it makes little difficult for starters in monsoon with slippery slope and gravel... Exciting and reward yourself with peace. If you want more adventure then trek in rainy season which doubles up the adventure. In rainy season, step become slippery which add risks in your trek and regular trekkers likes the risks.
05. alang-madan-kulang - Fort
About Alang fort:
Alang Fort (also Alangad) is a fort in Nashik district, Maharashtra, India. It is one of the three forts, the others being Madangad and Kulang, in the Kalsubai range of the Western Ghats. They are the most difficult to reach forts in Nasik District. A dense forest cover make these treks difficult. These three forts are a little neglected due to very heavy rains in the area and a difficult confusing path to the forts
About Kulang fort:
Being in the same region of the three forts its said climb to Kulag is the most difficult. On the way up climbing we come across patches of rock cut steps. It take 6 hours to reach from Kulanwadi to the fort. On the fort to see around 5 water cisterns. Form here we could also see Mahuli with the 3 pinacles. One can also stay at the caves here.
About Madan fort:
The climb preferred is usually between Madan and Alang. The time taken could around 3-4 hours to reach the step after leaving Kulung fort. Over here rock climbing would be required as the wall of the steps was destroyed during the cannon fire. Use of a fixed rope is required. There is one large cave on this fort and 2 water cistern. The top of the fort is a huge plateau. On the fort, there are two caves, a small temple and 11 water cisterns. Remnants of buildings are spread over the fort. Kalasubai, Aundh Fort, Patta and Bitangad are to the east of the fort, Harihar, Trimbakgad and Anjaneri to its north and Harishchandragad, Aajobagad, Khutta (pinnacle), Ratangad and Katrabai to its south.
06. Kalsubai Peak
Trekking Kalsubai Peak can be very tiring carry food and water for energy. A small well is there before reaching Kalsubai peak a villager has set camp there and offers Pakoda and Tea. Peak Kalsubai is a small plateau and offers a commanding view of nearby forts and Bhandardara Dam. During monsoon wind is very strong at Peak Kalsubai. You can also do a night trek in winter and enjoy the beautiful Sunrise at Kalsubai. It gets very cold atop Kalsubai before sunrise with strong wind.
07. Saptashrungi
At a distance of 26 km from Vani and 65 km from Nashik, Saptashrungi Devi Mandir is a Hindu temple situated near Nanduri village. The temple lies atop the cliff with an altitude of 1,230 m.

Bramhagiri Trek (गोदावरी नदीचे उगमस्थान) | Trambakshvar Gad | Godavari Birth Place
Brahmagiri is a mountain range in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra.[1] It is situated in Nashik District in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple is located near this place. The origin of the sacred Godavari river is near Trimbak. It flows for 1,465 kilometres (910 mi), first eastwards across the Deccan Plateau then turns southeast, entering the West Godavari district and East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, until it splits into two watercourses that widen into a large river delta and flow into the Bay of Bengal.
