Neben der schönen Stadt kannst du in Vintage Designer Stores wie Rosier 41, Labels inc. oder Vrijdagmarkt mit etwas Glück seltene Vintage Raf Simons, Comme des Garcons, Marni und Ann Demeulemeester Pieces bekommen und alleine deswegen ist Antwerpen auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert!

SHOW 2018 - Antwerp Fashion Department
June, a month where fashion students show off their hard work to the public. By far the most important one is the graduation show from the students at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. The school is known for its promising names (Dries Van Noten, Walter Van Beirendonck, Ann Demeulemeester,...) who graduated in the 80's and made Belgian fashion happen. Curious to see who are their successors?

Walter Van Beirendonck
Walter Van Beirendonck made his debut in London in 1987 as one of “The Antwerp Six”. This bag is a reissue of the Walter Van Beirendonck collaboration with Eastpak in 2004.

Walter Van Beirendonck has given a piece of his own soul to his “Monster Bag” by literally giving it eyes, ears and a mouth.

GAME CHANGERS. REINVENTING THE 20TH-CENTURY SILHOUETTE
18 March 2016 - 14 August 2016
Game Changers looks at the groundbreaking work of fashion designer Cristóbal Balenciaga, whose innovations in the middle of the 20th century created a radically new silhouette, in which the body got freedom of movement and architectural volumes created a space around the body.
Influences from Japan, such as the kimono, liberated women from their tight corsets at the beginning of the 20th century. Fashion designers such as Madeleine Vionnet, Paul Poiret and Coco Chanel shaped this freedom in the 1920s–1930s with technical innovations and modern ideas about femininity.
At the end of the 20th century, the boundaries of the female silhouette are further explored by Japanese and Belgian designers such as Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto, Comme des Garçons, Ann Demeulemeester and Martin Margiela. They paved the way for new body shapes and abstract silhouettes and gave a new interpretation of what could be considered as fashion.
This exhibition unites 150 unique couture and ready-to-wear silhouettes by Cristóbal Balenciaga, Gabrielle Chanel, Yohji Yamamoto and Iris van Herpen. With loans from prestigious collections of the museum of Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, the V&A, the Municipal Museum of The Hague, MUDE Lisbon and Musée Musée Galliera in Paris.

PARIS — Although Ann Demeulemeester left her signature house three years ago, it has stayed true to its roots under the creative direction of Belgian designer Sébestien Meurnier. His silhouettes are not simply in keeping with the principles instilled in the very fabric of the house by his compatriot and Antwerp Six member, but have gone to embody a vision which makes it relevant long after the break with its founder. Early Thursday afternoon those principles were in full bloom, albeit with a funeral pall. This is still Ann Demeulemeester after all and not just in name alone. Pressed lace, veils, straps, belts and more made this collection like pressed flowers, memorable and evocative. On the afternoon a dozen models from across the Next worldwide network including Tessa Bruinsma, Anna Cleveland, Odette Pavlova, Meghan Collison, Wangy Xin Yu, Nimue Smit, Lia Pavlova, Lili Sumner, Estella Brons, Lorena Maraschi, Jay Wright, Klementyna Dmowska.
