Nature Home guest house review | Mirissa, Sri Lanka
Hi travellers,
In this video I show inside the guest house I booked using the link below with Booking.com.
This guest house was slightly outside of Mirissa central, and suited me just fine. With free wifi, and breakfast included. I did pay extra for the deluxe room to have air con.
It is near coconut hill, the featured instagram spot of Mirissa.
The owners of the guest house were so helpful and lovely and welcoming. I did walk into Mirissa on my first day, although I could have caught a tuk tuk for 250-300LKR.
Payment is with cash only. There are ATMs in Mirissa, one of which I did use on the main road with no issue.

You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, diggin' the dancing queen
Friday night and the lights are low
Looking out for the place to go
Where they play the right music, getting in the swing
You come in to look for a king
Anybody could be that guy
Night is young and the music's high
With a bit of rock music, everything is fine
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance...
You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, diggin' the dancing queen
You're a teaser, you turn 'em on
Leave them burning and then you're gone
Looking out for another, anyone will do
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance...
You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, diggin' the dancing queen

Travel Sri Lanka in 12 days with One Life Adventures
If you’ve always wanted to travel Sri Lanka - to immerse yourself in lush jungles, urban cities, and ancient ruins - but you weren’t sure where to start, a guided tour may be your best bet. If you’re looking for inspiration, getting excited about an upcoming trip, or just daydreaming about this gorgeous country, let TourRadar and this 12-day tour from One Life Adventures be your guide.
Start off in Negombo, where you’ll be treated to sand, surf, and the expertise of your guides as you laze the day away at the beach. Relaxed? Good, now you can really start exploring. Spend a day exploring the Dambulla caves, the largest cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. Home to 153 Buddha statues, the Dambulla caves are not to be missed. Try to experience a Sri Lankan sunset; one of the most beautiful you’ll ever see.
If you thought the Dambulla caves were incredible, we’re just getting started: it’s time to climb Sigiriya Rock. This natural structure, whose name means “Lion Rock,” is believed to have been inhabited up to 5,000 years ago. 1,200 steps stand between you and the view from the top, but you can catch a preview of it in this video.
After all that exploring, you must have worked up an appetite! Love curry? Who doesn’t! Watch as these lucky travellers visit a traditional Sri Lankan spice garden and take a cooking class, where they’re, of course, allowed to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
We’re sure after this video you’re more than ready to travel Sri Lanka, and why wouldn’t you be? If you’re looking for shining sun, glorious nature, and breathtaking history, Sri Lanka needs to be next on your list.

Left a good job in the city
Workin' for the man ev'ry night and day
And I never lost one minute of sleepin'
Worryin' 'bout the way things might have been
Big wheel keep on turnin'
Proud Mary keep on burnin'
Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river
Cleaned a lot of plates in Memphis
Pumped a lot of pain down in New Orleans
But I never saw the good side of the city

Big wheel keep on turnin'
Proud Mary keep on burnin'
Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river
Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river
If you come down to the river
Bet you gonna find some people who live
You don't have to worry 'cause you have [if you got] no money
People on the river are happy to give
Big wheel keep on turnin'
Proud Mary keep on burnin'

Alankuda Beach, Sri Lanka.
Alankuda Beach is a stretch beach recently developed in the Kalpitiya peninsula off the north western coast of Sri Lanka. Alankuda Beach is a starting point for off-shore Whale Watching and Dolphin watching at Kalpitiya. Alankuda Beach offers a range of water sports: sailing, wind surfing, kayaking, canoeing, kite surfing and snorkeling.
The first four hotels and resorts developed at Alankuda beach are Bar Reef Resort, Palagama beach, Khomba House and Udekki.
For those who wish to explore the land around them, a visit can be made to the small, nearby town of Kalpitiya. It's a vibrant and unspoiled fishing town with an interesting mix of historical buildings from its eventful colonial past.
For those who wish to explore the island's ancient history, the many attractions of the Cultural Triangle, with its ruined cities, temples and statues, is within comfortable reach. About two to three hours away, it contains no less than four of the island's seven World Heritage Sites.
Wilpattu National Park, the island's largest wildlife sanctuary, where you can find one of the highest concentrations of leopard in the world along with myriad other wildlife, is an hour's drive away.
The 17th century St. Anne's Church in Talawila, a mere five miles away, is the island's most renowned Catholic shrine. Legend has it that a Portuguese trader had a vision of St Anne while resting under a banyan tree and returned to build the church that now sprawls over the site. In March and August each year, St. Anne's hosts the largest catholic festivals in the country, when up to 700,000 pilgrims come to pray.
Munnesweram Kovil is a much-storied Hindu temple whose origins date back to great antiquity. A highly revered temple dedicated to Shiva and associated with Kali, its deity's name can be translated as the 'Lord of Antiquity' and its goddess' as the 'Goddess of Beautiful Form'. About an hour and a half away, it is well worth a visit.
The Puttlam salt pans are a half hour drive away for those interested in learning what one of our most basic condiments goes through before it ends up on our tables and in our food.

Marble Beach in the Twilight, Trincomalee (2018)
Trincomalee has some of the most picturesque and scenic beaches/bays found in Sri Lanka, relatively un-spoilt and clean.
Nilaveli Beach, Marble Beach, Coral Bay, Deadman's Cove, Sweat Bay, Sampur Beach, etc. During my visit, I managed to go enjoy some of these at different times of the day.
We visited Nilaveli in the early morning, Sweat Bay in the early afternoon, Sampur in mid-day and Marble Beach in the evening twilight.
Out of all the above, Marble Beach and Nilaveli are the most popular and the busiest especially during weekends. Here, we went on such a day in the evening to find Marble Beach was still full of life.
Eastern Coast is renowned for its sunrises so we weren't expecting much in the evening. Anyway, relatively calm sea coming to touch the sandy beach, an oil tanker departing Trinco Harbour to a faraway land and the distance views of Round Island Light House and Sober Islands made it a picture worth taking. Not to forget the moon full in the sky.
World famous Marble Beach Air Force Resort is located nearby and the beach is off limits to the public from 6pm to 6am and you have to buy a ticket to enter the beach.

Special Note for the Viewers:
I’ve done this video to make you aware of the beauty of this place and please don’t misuse this information in order to ruin it. I’ve spent so much of time/money bringing this to you so that you may enjoy it.
I also have a very kind and humble request to make. Should you ever visit this place, you’re kindly requested to adhere to the following in order to save our Mother Nature not only for the future generations but for the current one as well:
* Avoid careless/irresponsible/money-oriented/mega tour groups or organizers.
* Travel in small groups as Mother Nature can’t afford so many footprints at once. Stick to the designated trails or hardback surfaces at all times.
* Minimize the use of polythene/plastic and do bring them back. Please don’t burn them in the wilderness. Even organic/bio-degradable waste is harmful to the nature and animals. Please stick to the simple rule of “if you pack it in, pack it out”.
* Use reusable water bottles, plates and cups. Even paper cups/plates are harmful and take years to decompose.
* Remain quiet and vigilant. Don’t disturb the tranquility of the nature. Respect wildlife and don’t disturb them in anyway. Also be considerate of other trekkers.
* Please collect and bring any litter/garbage left behind by other careless travellers.
* Don’t light fires unnecessarily and do try to use portable cookers instead of using firewood when camping. If you must, only use firewood on the ground and don’t cut any trees for this.
* Don’t bring any plants back with you or cut any trees/branches unnecessarily..
* Don’t use soap/ shampoo when bathing in natural streams as they contaminate them and kill wildlife.
* Don’t do anything that harms the Mother Nature.
