TurtleFest 2015 - Annandale National Historic Site's Cabin Fever Contest

Come out of your Shell June 19th and 20th, 2015 for Tillsonburg TurtleFest! TurtleFest features our Friday night Downtown Block Party, where the entire street becomes host to music, food, fun and games.
Retailers take to the street (or come onto it) showing off a range of Tillsonburg's stores and services.
At the main stage (again, right on the street!), the music will start you moving, with headline acts taking the stage until midnight.
Saturday, the rest of the town gets in the act, with events at the Tillsonburg Fairgrounds, Lake Lisgar, Annandale National Historic Site and more! It's All Day Family Fun!

Come out of your Shell at Tillsonburg TurtleFest 2014. Coming June 13th and 14th, 2014.

About Tillsonburg TurtleFest
Started in 2011, Tillsonburg TurtleFest was devised as a unique community festival combining Tillsonburg's rich historical past with participation of our local businesses and service clubs.
The origin of Tillsonburg TurtleFest is based on the historical promise of Tillsonburg founder George Tillson; to return one day as a turtle to see how his town was prospering. Several years after his passing, a giant turtle was found on the banks of the Otter Creek near the Tillson homestead. Remembering his promise, Tillsonburg citizens brought the turtle to the downtown area & everyone was invited to come and see George and let him know how the town had prospered.
TurtleFest involves the whole community including our museum and heritage sites, arts and conservation organizations, the Downtown Business Improvement Association, local wildlife habitats and popular landmarks to create a 2-day-long event promoting environmental awareness, our local historical sites, our public parks and event spaces as well as our local businesses. Some of the venues have included Station Arts Centre, Annandale National Historic Site, Lake Lisgar, Tillsonburg Fair Grounds, Downtown Tillsonburg and the Tillsonburg Community Centre.

Aestheticism

Aestheticism (also the Aesthetic Movement) is an art movement supporting the emphasis of aesthetic values more than social-political themes for literature, fine art, music and other arts. It was particularly prominent in Europe during the 19th century, but contemporary critics are also associated with the movement, such as Harold Bloom, who has recently argued against projecting social and political ideology onto literary works, which he believes has been a growing problem in humanities departments over the last century.
In the 19th century, it was related to other movements such as symbolism or decadence represented in France, or decadentismo represented in Italy, and may be considered the British version of the same style.
