Installed by Vallabha , king of Mooshakavansa it occupies a prominet place among historical Ruruith Vidhana temples of Kerala. Annapoorneswary temple at Cherukunnu is in the same complex as the more ancient Vishnu temple of Kannapuram, and its position and Paradevatha status of Mooshakavansa is the same as Pazhayannur devi (also within the complex of Vishnu temple).

Till the 5th Dharmakartharu, the temple was having a very small structure surrounded by full of natural vegetation and forest. Even then at least one or more people used to visit the temple, have pooja and were provided with free food {annaprasadam} and shelter and it is continued till date.

Vadeswaram Sree Maha Siva Temple situated about 150 mtrs. eastward to the national highway 17 at Keecheri in Pappinisseri Panchayath ,Kannur Dist.IS believed to have been built approximately a millennium and a half ago by the then great king Vatukavarma ,the 43rd ruler of Mooshika dynasty.
The sanctum sanctorum of the temple was constructed in a unique architectural style,ASHTADALA(eight petalled).This style of construction is an exclusive feature of this great temple only as its like not to be seen anywhere else.Scholars also unanimous in their view that this ASHTADALA styled sanctum sanctorum is not existing in any other Indian temple.
