Welcome to the Anno Distillery. We are Andy and Norman and we’ve combined our names and our passion for premium spirits and alchemy into the Ammo brand. Anno was founded in 2011 and it’s based in the Kentish village of Marden were we have our stunning copper pot still “Patience” and this is where the magic happens.
Gin at its most basic is just Vodka that’s flavoured with Juniper but behind that simple disguise lies one of the worlds complex and best loved spirits in the history that spans hundreds of years.
Although Gin has been made here since the 1700s, Anno is the first micro distillery in Kent and the first to distill Gin in the county for nearly 200 years.
We are very proud to be located in Kent, the garden of England. When people think of Kent they typically imagine country gardens and moat houses as well as the fruit, flowers and hops that the county is renowned for producing.
We wanted to capture these fantastic flavours, so our inspiration and many of our botanicals come from the local area to give our spirits a true taste of Kent. For our Gin for example Anno uses 16 different botanicals as well as traditional Gin flavours. It encapsulates a range of carefully selected botanicals all the way from the Samphire gathered from the Kentish coast to the selection of locally grown aromatic hops, plus a range of Kentish florals, which include Elderflower, Rosehips and lavenders, which are grown in the national collection at Downderry Nursery in Hadlow, Kent.
Distilling is both an art and a science.
The production of our gin is very different to that of large producers: using our scientific background along with “Patience”, we transform natural ingredients into super smooth clean spirits full of personality and exciting flavours.
We have produced a range of multi award-winning Gins and Vodkas, and we have a Whisky on the way. One of our proudest moments was receiving a Gold Medal at the San Francisco world spirits competition for our Anno Kent Dry Gin.
