Anping Old Street & Zeelandia Fort | @Tainan Taiwan
Anping Old Street was the first street in Taiwan to be given a name. More than 300 years ago this was the first street built by the Dutch in Anping. In the early days, the street was built solely for pedestrians and push carts due to the fact that the street was narrow and there was not that much space to navigate. Many tourists coming to Anping must visit this street, and the noisy and bustling environment of Anping Old Street is one of its hallmarks. The street features all kinds of old stalls and shops, and regardless of whether you are a domestic or foreign visitor coming here to look for nick-knacks, raise your head once in a while to admire the Wind Lion Gods on the roofs of the old buildings or take a look at the Sword Lions on the lintels of doors. There are many small alleyways within the Anping Old Street area, and each alley has its own characteristics and features, such as Jasmine Alley and Rouge Alley. The area retains many of its old-style buildings, and when entering some of the more quiet alleyways it feels as if time is flowing backwards. The maze of alleys is filled with adventurous feel. It is a pity if you don’t explore the alleys when you come to Anping Old Street.

安平劍獅是臺南特有的重要文物，相傳起源於安平過去為明、清水師駐地時，軍隊在戰場上為威嚇敵人，會在盾牌上塑出威猛的獅子模樣；當士兵操練結束返家，習慣將劍、盾掛在門口的架子上，看起來就像是獅子咬著一把劍。宵小之輩見看後知道男主人已經返家，不敢入侵，令家宅得以平安。
安平居民在這樣的風俗傳統下，興建住宅時會在門口醒目處掛上一個獅子咬劍（劍獅）的圖騰，做為辟邪之物，祈求守護居民闔家平安，也成為代表臺灣歷史文化的古老文物之一。
近年來，在地方人士的熱心推動下，結合社區、商家與觀光旅遊，打造「劍獅的故鄉」，開發各類劍獅主題的文創商品以及舉辦文化活動，帶領遊客領略劍獅的文化，找回安平劍獅的特色，成為地方營造的典範。
如今走在安平的大街小巷，新、舊劍獅處處可見，成為安平當地的圖騰象徵，再現百年的劍獅風華。

In the early year, Anping is a seacoast but people gathered there and due to limited space, the road is narrow and curved. People think it's not good for their feng shui therefore some periapts appeared like Lion face, Tai-Jin, Knife & Sword Shield, mirror, bocky and Wind-Lion God and so on. When Koxinga defended the Dutch in 1662, soldiers hung their shields on the wall. Their shields are carved with a lion's face and the soldiers put their swords in the lion's mouth. It looks like a lion biting a sword. The residents in Anping followed them and this is the history of Sword-Lion.
安平最早是三面濱海沙嶼，因為人口聚集，建築空間有限，巷道窄小且彎曲，難免產生風水忌諱。因此許多辟邪物產生，如獅面、太極、刀劍屏、照牆、葫蘆、屋頂上放碗、風獅爺等。傳說1662年鄭成功盾牌上繪有怪獸圖騰（獅面），鄭成功來台驅荷後，軍隊駐紮安平，將士操練返家後，就把獅面盾牌掛在牆上，刀劍插入獅面盾牌牙縫鐵勾，從外看即成獅子咬劍，安平人見了就仿效刻制，這就是劍獅傳說的由來。

Anping Old Street (安平老街) was the first street in Taiwan to be given a name. More than 300 years ago this was the first street built by the Dutch in Anping. Many tourists coming to Anping must visit this street, and the noisy and bustling environment of Anping Old Street is one of its hallmarks. 簡介：
■ 古蹟正式公告名稱：安平蚵灰窯暨附屬建築
燒蚵灰是台南地區流傳久遠的傳統產業。十七世紀荷蘭統治時期即有灰窯工匠的記載，而台灣數百年來漢人傳統磚石房舍之砌造，常以蚵灰調和糖水、糯米汁等製成俗稱「三合土」的黏著劑，或混加泥土、細沙、水等用於抹壁粉飾，故蚵灰實乃「起大厝」不可或缺的重要建材；另木構船隻的建造與維修，亦須仰仗以蚵灰為主要材料的桐油灰漿作為細縫填補劑，使木板之間不虞漏水而能堅固耐用。
根據口述史料得知，安平地區於數百年已有灰窯之存在，灰窯尾社因而得名。民國六、七十年代，由於面臨現代化石灰工業大量生產的競爭，一座座的安平灰窯相繼停產拆除，如今僅餘安平蚵灰窯尚保存完整，經台南市府規劃籌設「安平蚵灰窯文化館」，透過影像及文字記錄，將其生產流程記錄下來，從而提升府城文化資產的保存視野與成效。
整館由蚵灰窯的主體建築物、倉庫組成。因燒蚵會造成空氣污染的關係早已停燒，館內陳列昔日燒蚵器皿並設有蚵的科學展示及蚵灰的應用，是間小而巧的文化館。
特色：
安平蚵灰窯的建築外方內圓，形態相當特殊。主體為承重構造，由紅磚疊砌而成。內部直徑約4公尺，高度約略比成人稍高，壁體厚度最薄處約有1公尺。和其他蚵灰窯比較，此窯當屬中大型規模。
面對安北路一側，開窯門一座，可供材料進出；門洞二側6磚牆，各有一條垂直門溝，封窯時可由上而下逐一置入木條版。窯門所延伸之中軸對側，設有風口。風口外為鼓風設備，窯底則有紅磚鋪設而形成之平行於中軸線的窯溝十數條，係燒製蚵時供應助燃外氣的管道。圓弧內壁可窺見一層一層的磚砌紋路，其上端則以一皮豎磚收頭。壁面班剝凹凸，顯露出歷史與文化的刻痕。
灰窯主體之頂部為工作走道，係鋪設燒灰材料逐層傾倒蚵殼和煤炭的場所。主體上方尚有增建高約2公尺左右的磚壁，四周封閉僅於垂直中軸線的二端各開設一處門洞，以作為進出工作走道的門戶。by 安平港國家歷史風景區-景點介紹 資料
