Dickenson Bay in Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda
Dickenson Bay is located on the northwestern coast in Antigua, close to the Cedar Grove.
While Dickenson Bay is not the most secluded beach in Antigua, its white beaches and tranquil seas attract many visitors. A string of large resort hotels give Dickenson Bay one of the island's largest collections of rooms. The beachfront is lined with restaurants, beach bars, and water sports concessions. Several small uninhabited islands and a one-mile long coral reef can be found off the coast of the bay.
Several big name resorts make their home on Dickenson Bay. That means there's plenty to do, including tours and water sports, but you're not likely to be all alone on this beach.
Positioned near the heart of Dickenson Bay, this beach is on the North West coast of Antigua. You should consider dropping by even if you are not staying in the immediate vicinity. Many of the other beaches in Antigua are known for being hidden gems with potential for deep relaxation. These spots may be perfect for those who need a break from crowds, but other visitors prefer lounging in the livelier environment at Dickenson Bay.
On the northwest coast of Antigua lies Dickenson Bay, with sugary white sand beaches and calm waters for sport and swim. Hotels, restaurants, vendor booths and shops abound. Off the coast of Dickenson Bay visitors will find several small uninhabited islands and a one-mile-long coral reef.
You could always try the restaurant right on the water, if it suits your taste. There are so many unique restaurants in Antigua, but you don't have to eat every meal in a formal setting. Many vacationers simply sit on their towels——not in a restaurant——to enjoy lunch. So, you may wish to consider getting pre-packed lunches from your hotel if they offer them. Or, you could find just what you need from cafes and street vendors en route to the beach.
The concession stand at this spot is also an option. Sometimes, visitors will be able to order some food from one of the local vendors who typically set up shop here.
You will be able to use a public restroom at Dickenson Bay. It's also good to know that you will have access to chairs and umbrellas here, so guests looking for a relaxing spot in the shade will not go leave unhappy. You will find the water here is clear enough for snorkeling, so bring along some gear if you're hoping to find some interesting marine life. Dickenson Bay is a very popular beach, so there's bound to be some crowds. It is also a favorite destination for families with children and there's generally a good mix of both tourists and locals.
Dickenson Bay as well as its available amenities happens to be located inside a major tourist area. If you want to stay away from crowded shores and busy-beaches, it is a smart reason to make plans to visit and beat the crowds, such as having your beach visit first thing in the morning. If you arrive later, you could lose the chance to use all the services that this beach has on site.
What's Nearby
Attractions
This beach is positioned on the North West coast of Antigua. Grand Bay Casino is not very far away, so visitors have the option to walk or to take a cab, and it is one attraction close-by.
Beaches are one type of attraction you can visit, but there's plenty else to see during your stay. The following chart includes some other attractions close-by.
Other Beaches
Of course, Dickenson Bay is just one of many beaches you might like in Antigua.
If the active mood at Dickenson Bay is what you're looking for, consider heading to Soldier Bay West, a beach with a similar ambiance. You'll find it a half mile to the north-northeast. However, if you're looking to enjoy a quieter scene, Galley Bay Beach is a beach which doesn't host as many visitors. It is located a short taxi ride away.
You may also want to consider Runaway Beach, located only a short distance away. Sugary white sand and tranquil waters distinguish Antigua's Runaway Beach. A popular spot for vacationers, the beach is located next door to another popular beach area, Dickinson's Bay. Visitors to Runaway Beach will enjoy its sparkling blue water and fantastic sunsets.
Antigua has some unforgettable natural wonders to explore, and paying a visit to Dickenson Bay is just one way you can spend your afternoon.
