Newport, Oregon / How to Go Crabbing?
This trip to Newport I tried to share some of the tips to crabbing here at the pier it is a little different if you ever do it off a boat. It was a special day and we didn't need our license to fish or crab because it was a free fishing day in Oregon!
A few extra tips:
-bring gloves (protect hands and keep them from being fishing)
-bring a bag or cooler for the crabs you catch and want to keep
- we noticed the crab pots had holes that allowed more crabs to get out of the traps and like the crab rings a little better.
Here are some helpful links with more information to check out:

ATS: Special Transport: Service Boat - Portland to Newport
This episode shows a delivery using the Special Transport pack for American Truck Simulator.
It involves carrying a Service Boat from the Portland OR dockyards to a Walmart down by the water in Newport OR. Once outside the region of the docks, we head south on Interstate 5 past central Portland and then Salem. We turn off on the 20 towards the coast and down to Newport. From the central part of the town, we go south down the 101 and over the Yaquina Bay bridge. Fortunately we don't have to wait for the bridge to lower. We then turn off the highway and find our way to the Walmart on the edge of the bay.
This particular load is not particularly wide, but is long. At corners, this can be a problem. When I turned off the 5 onto route 20, there was a problem when the boat was stuck on a light pole. The load nearly tipped, but fortunately I was able to rescue it. Another highlight of the trip was the drive across the Yaquina Bay bridge at dusk.
This is using ATS version 1.33.2s. I am using the mods Minimal adviser interface for ATS & ETS2, Top Corner Mirrors for ATS & ETS2, Real Company Logo, and the Jazzycat packs: Classic AI, Motorcycle, Painted Truck, Trailers & Cargo, Truck, Bus, and AI Traffic.

326-year-old beeswax is Washing up on Oregon Beaches | Mossback's Northwest
Get More Mossback at:
In the late 1600s, a Spanish galleon from Manila went down in a storm off the Oregon coast. Its cargo? A bounty of beeswax, used for candles to light the churches and major institutions of the Spanish colonies. Beeswax and other artifacts from the epic shipwreck are still being found on beaches today. In this edition of Mossback's Northwest, Knute Berger recalls the complicated journey that some observers say resulted in the first-ever contact between Europeans and Northwest indigenous peoples.

Oregon State University (OSU) Department of Oceanography's 80-foot research vessel, R/V Acona, seen in waters off Newport, Oregon, United States. Using a boom on the foredeck, the crew lowers a container, takes a water sample and retrieves it. (Note: Reportedly, one of the two persons seen near the end of the footage may be Hugh Dobson, a technician from BC Canada, who worked for OSU Professor Kilho Park.) One of the two persons near the end of the footage looks like Hugh Dobson who was a technician from BC Canada who came to OSU to work for Professor Kilho Park (this insert provided by Iver Duedall, OSU graduate student 1963-66; spent time on Acona on cruises--most of the time I was seasick) Location: Newport Oregon United States. Date: 1963.

Coast Guard rescues 2 fisherman 52 miles off Oregon Coast
A Coast Guard aircrew aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Facility Newport, Ore., hoists a fisherman off the fishing vessel New Faith, 52 miles west of Coos Bay, July 8, 2017.
The two fishermen were rescued by separate helicopters after their fishing vessel started taking on water and eventually sank.

Drone's cruise through July 4, 2015 Fireworks Display in Newport, Oregon
During the Newport, Oregon Bay Front Fireworks display on July 4 2015 two unidentified flying objects almost collide as they seem to fly through the Fireworks display.
Looks to me to be drones, but since they are unidentified to me, as well as almost colliding mid-air I thought I would put up the footage taken from my Samsung Galaxy 6S.
A guy near me to my left states in the video, when we see the objects, he saw the same thing the night before going in and going out of the ocean, which is more likely hearsay, since I don't believe drones can do that. Nor did I get footage of them going in or out of the water here.
Most likely drones, but it was a surprise. The flickering dot, had to be camera refraction or an affect of the camera dealing with capturing the fireworks at night. I don't think it was a laser pointer.
Was pretty interesting though and when whatever they were almost collided, that was wild.
It is also real footage, and of the 18 minutes of the fireworks display and footage that I took from my Galaxy 6s, it occurred in the last five minutes of the fireworks display on the Newport, Oregon Bay Front. I have the 128 gig Galaxy 6S so I have the full 18 minutes of the fireworks display as well.
It was pretty cool whatever it was, be it drones or whatever. I was also surprised the fireworks didn't seem to affect either object.

Oregon Coast, Day 6: The last day of my trip was so beautiful. Rainy weather drove all of the other tourists away to where I had the entire beach to myself! Caught some nice surf perch fishing a 5 inch grub among the rocks! Saw starfish, crabs and sea anemones and even some elk along the road! It was a great way to end the trip!
