Carnlough Antrim Fishing Village - Carnlough Harbour - NI
Carnlough and Carnlough Harbour is an area of outstanding beauty nestled in amongst the Glens of Antrim - at the foot of Glencloy -
and the North Channel on the well travelled Coast Road.
Carnlough is actually a beautiful small fishing village that is located in county Antrim, Northern Ireland, and this Carnlough Harbour is part of it, on the shores of Carnlough Bay.
Carnlough Harbour was built by the owners of the quarries west of the village, which were connected to the harbour by means of a mineral tramway network, which include a bridge over each of two parallel streets in the village. Most of the old things that are built in any country out there are renovated and that is exactly the same that happened with Carnlough Harbour; it has been renovated recently and is now used by pleasure boats and small fishing boats.
Carnlough Harbour is now considered the focal point for the whole village, that is why it might be attracting lots of people - especially the local Irish ones - to it because they already now what they are going to see and experience at this place. This area offers many opportunities for both sea angling and fresh water angling.
If you intended to come to Carnlough Harbour by boat before and you are not from the village, you might have heard that it is difficult to find a place because it is usually full of local boats.
Carnlough Harbour is situated at the northern end of Carnlough Bay between Garren Point and Park Head. Visiting the place in general has its own different feeling and it is of course one experience which you will fall in love with for the weather and the calmness of the view; if you are coming from afar, there is also the famous Londonderry Arms Hotel which is just in front of the harbour and which you could stay at.
Being in Carnlough Village itself means that there are different attractions which one could actually see and check in addition to Carnlough Harbour - which we have to say is the most famous there. The options from the places that one could choose, there is the Glenarm Castle, the Red Bay Castle, Cranny Falls, Ardclinis Church, Carnlough Library, St. John the Evangelist, and the Hidden Village of Galboly. People always think that because Carnlough is a small village, it might not have what people could visit and know more about, but it has and might even grab the attention so easily.
In addition to those attractions and destinations which one could head out to in order to check in Carnlough Village, one should also think about the activities or those things which could be done apart from sightseeing. One of the examples which we have include taking the Carnlough Bay boat tours which will provide you with a new experience, or else going to the Glenarm forest and have a walk inside the place and experience it all.
Carnlough is situated in Ballymena and that brings another journey which people could think about - you could jump from one village to the other to check what it has there, but which will definitely depend on the number of days you are taking to enjoy your vacation.
In Ballymena, there are some important places to be mentioned, such as the Cushendun Caves which are situated in Cushendun ( and which also appeared in Game of Thrones movie series - just like Carnlough - and which is one of those which we have been to before.
Carnlough Harbour appeared in Game of Thrones movie series which is filmed in different locations all around Northern Ireland, even some of the 10 doors that appeared in the movie are found in Northern Ireland as well and if we are referring to Ballymena then door number 8 is found in Mary McBride's Bar which is found in Cushendun, Ballymena; so there is always something to explore in every part of Northern Ireland.
The trip we had to visit Carnlough Harbour was an interesting one, we didn't manage to visit any other touristic destinations in Carnlough Village but we loved walking by the water, sitting there just watching the boats, and at the same time enjoying the breeze and the atmosphere of the whole place.
If you are going on a tour regarding the locations that are part of Game of Thrones then visiting the Carnlough Harbour is a must, and if you are generally searching for a new and different location which you might visit in Northern Ireland then this is also an option - but it will definitely depend on your current location and the place you are staying at during your visit.
If you have already been to the Carnlough Harbour before then share with us your experience and tell us about the things you loved the most about the place. If you have never been there before then this is the right time to head to this peaceful place and see it in real and you will not lose if you also headed to some of the attractions there as well.

Christmas in Lisburn County Antrim - Things to do in Lisburn
Lisburn is a city in Northern Ireland that is located southwest of Belfast city centre on the River Lagan, so as a city it might be a famous place near Belfast that tourists could head to and check, but what about spending Christmas in Lisburn?
We believe that Christmas and New Year's Eve are usually the most glamorous days of the year; they really turn the streets into a glowing thing with all the lights and decorations that are placed there. Walking through the streets with these decorations turns into some kind of a hobby for some people - us included - and thus we decided to visit some cities in Ireland and Northern Ireland to see what they have to offer for us.
We have been to Lisburn to see what have been done to its streets, shops, and shopping centers for Christmas. At the beginning of the journey in this city, we headed to the Bow Street Mall and we should say that it was a good kind of experience because of the way they decorated the mall from the inside by mixing the Christmas theme with winter - so you will find those dogs that are responsible for strolling down Santa, there are those glowing balls which are decorating the place, and there is even Santa hanged on top in an air balloon - we actually fell in love with the atmosphere of the place as a whole.
This was the thing that highlighted the visit to Lisburn city in Northern Ireland in addition to the streets that we managed to walk through and which were also a little bit decorated with those Christmas lights and decorations. We wanted to make our trip to this city a little bit different, so we decided to head to a bowling center and play bowling for a change, so we chose Lisburn Bowl and headed there.
Walking through the streets of the city will depend on where you are because you might come across Santa waiting for you outside a specific restaurant or cafe asking you to come inside and you might pass by another one which is not decorating the place in the same kind of way.
One will never get the feeling of Christmas without the Christmas tree - will always be better with some gifts left under it as well :-) - so it always feels different when one comes across such kind of tree in the street and even if you have seen it million times the years before with the same way of decoration, you will still decide to take a couple of photos beside it - we all do the same everywhere.
From those other cities which Connolly Cove decided to visit in Northern Ireland and Ireland are the capitals; Belfast and Dublin, and we believe that being the capital city is one thing that plays a good role in making the decoration of the place much more appealing, which we believe was the case with Belfast and Dublin.
In Belfast we have been to the yearly Belfast Christmas market ( and we also got the chance to visit the famous shopping center where one could find everything he/she is searching for with all the shops it has, which is Victoria Square. Christmas in Belfast was interesting for us not only because of the lights and decorations, but also for the kind of food and drinks which we only get the chance to have from one year to the other (
Dublin was kind of the same; we walked through the different streets of the city - the city centre - got something to drink in the middle of the way, enjoyed the lights and the decorations of the street, and also passed by those Christmas carols which are rehearsed and sung in the streets and that's of course apart from the shops and restaurants which are decorated in the same kind of way (
Our series of trip to those different cities to check how glamorous their Christmas turned out to be also stopped at Antrim Castle Gardens where Christmas was being celebrated in the most right way with all the games, the food, the shows, and even the music played there; we had fun there along with the kids and we are just crossing our fingers that it would be repeated next year as well (
There are different cities around the world which are famous for the Christmas and New Year decorations that they tend to do and thus they become the favorite for lots of people, such as London for example which is known for its decorations, its shopping, and its atmosphere in general.
We dream to spend every single Christmas in a different city to be able to see the world and at the same time explore their Christmas spirit, so where do you want to spend your next Christmas and why? Where have you been this Christmas or else where are you from and how does your city celebrate this time of the year? Share with us more of your stories.
Merry Christmas to all Lisburn people and to all those watching this video :-)

Roger Casement and Galway in 1916
On Thursday 7th April 2016 in Galway City Library The Liam and Tom O'Flaherty Society hosted a lecture on 'Roger Casement and Galway in 1916' presented by Angus Mitchell, the foremost authority on Casement.
Angus Mitchell, who was born in Africa and educated in England, has lived for over two decades in Ireland, where he has studied the life and legacy of Roger Casement and a group of associated radicals, pacifists, feminists, cosmopolitan nationalists, internationalists and other critics of empire. To date, his published research has focused largely on Roger Casement's work in Africa and South America.
Mitchell's extensive writings on Roger Casement have helped to retrieve the former diplomat into the history of human rights and placed him firmly within the progressive anti-colonial forces of pre-First World War Britain. Mitchell's work has also reinvigorated academic interest in Casement and the controversies associated with his life.
Much of the early research for his body of work was undertaken while Mitchell was resident in South America, where he travelled widely on the Amazon and revisited the principal locations where Casement stayed when consul general in Brazil.
His work has cast vital new light on Casement's entanglement with British intelligence and the enduring puzzle over the authenticity of the nefarious Black Diaries, the documents that have largely defined Casement's myth in the public imagination. Mitchell has long made the argument, along with other reputable historians, that these documents are forgeries.

More information about the video content bellow:
1. Northern Ireland is a part of the United Kingdom in the north-east of the island of Ireland. The monarch is Queen Elizabeth II, who has reigned since 1952. In 2011, its population was 1,810,863, constituting about 30% of the island's total population and about 3% of the UK's population.
2. Northern Ireland was created in 1921, when Ireland was partitioned between Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland by the Government of Ireland Act 1920. Unlike Southern Ireland, which would become the Irish Free State in 1922, the majority of Northern Ireland's population were unionists, who wanted to remain within the United Kingdom. Most of these were the Protestant descendants of colonists from Great Britain. However, a significant minority, mostly Catholics, were nationalists who wanted a united Ireland independent of British rule. Today, the former generally see themselves as British and the latter generally see themselves as Irish, while a distinct Northern Irish or Ulster identity is claimed both by a large minority of Catholics and Protestants and by many of those who are non-aligned.
3. In the late 1960s, conflict between state forces and chiefly Protestant unionists on the one hand, and chiefly Catholic nationalists on the other, erupted into three decades of violence known as the Troubles, which claimed over 3,500 lives and caused over 50,000 casualties. The 1998 Good Friday Agreement was a major step in the peace process, including the decommissioning of weapons, although sectarianism and religious segregation still remain major social problems, and sporadic violence has continued.
4. Belfast is the capital and largest city of Northern Ireland, and the second largest on the island of Ireland. On average, it rains 157 days a year in Belfast, that’s less than Scotland. By the early 1800s the former town was home to a major port. Belfast played a key role in the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century. Industrialisation and the inward migration it brought made Belfast Ireland's biggest city at the time. It became the capital of Northern Ireland following the Partition of Ireland in 1922.
5. Harland and Wolff, which built the RMS Titanic, was the world's biggest and most productive shipyard.
6. The Giant's Causeway is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic eruption. It is located in County Antrim on the north coast of Northern Ireland.
7. In 1965, Professor James Francis Pantridge and Dr John Geddis, both working at the Royal Victoria Hospital, modified the hospital’s defibrillator using two car batteries to create the world’s first portable defibrillator. Pantridge recognized that many heart attack victims would be dead by the time an ambulance arrived. His invention, stationed in various locations, has saved thousands of lives throughout the world.

Ireland and Northern Ireland
Two bordering countries on the North Atlantic island of Ireland. Well, Northern Ireland is kind of a country. It’s also often called a province, or just a region. Regardless, IT is part of the United Kingdom. Ireland is not. Ireland, aka the Republic of Ireland, has officially been around since 1937 and has been at least a somewhat independent country since December 6, 1921 and the Anglo-Irish Treaty, which ended the Irish War of Independence.
The capital cities and biggest cities in both, Dublin and Belfast, are along the east coast of the island, and just a two hour trip apart by car. But Dublin is more than twice as big as Belfast. (D-1.3 million, B- 700,000) And the Republic of Ireland as a whole has 2 and a half times more people than Northern Ireland. In terms of land area, Ireland is about five times bigger. Northern Ireland has less than 3% of the United Kingdom’s population.
Around 1/3 of Ireland residents live in or near Dublin, and just over 1/3 of Northern Ireland residents live in or near Belfast . Both are more rural than most of the rest of Europe.
Both have little islands around them. Aw, how cute.
Both are green. Very green. Due to the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf Stream, both get A LOT OF FREAKING RAIN. Well, mostly in the western portions. It’s also cloudiest out west. Ireland does get more precipitation overall.
