Fatehpur Sikri I Part-1 I Anup Talao I बाग़ - बा I
Fatehpur sikri located at 40km west of Agra, It was the capital of the Mughal empire between 1572 and 1585, during the reign of Emperor Akbar. Earlier, Akbar had visited the village of Sikri to consult the Sufi saint Shaikh Salim Chishti, who predicted the birth of an heir to the Mughal throne. When it came true, Akbar built his new capital here, including a stunning mosque.

All talk and no service makes QHmette mad
Bad service at a Turkish bath in Istanbul - It started out so promising but slowly went down hill as steep as they come in Istanbul. QHmette got angry and that is saying something!
A Pictorial account of Fatehpur Sikri
It was thrilling to feel that the place where I had been walking was once occupied by the renowned Mughal Courtiers like Raja Birbal, Abul Fazl, Faizi, Raja Todarmal, Raja Man Singh, Abdur Rahim Khan-i-Khanan and above all the emperor who introduced the concept of secularism in Indian Polity, Jalal-ud-din Muhammad Akbar.
Fatehpur Sikri
Fatehpur Sikri was planned as a capital city by the great Akbar, but failed due to water shortness. And this might be the reason why we, as tourists, are able to visit these ruins as a beautiful ghost city, that did not change from ancient times.
The Great Mosque is still in use and perfectly preserved. It is a great areal to walk around, but when people/salesman greet you in three different languages, you can be sure it is a main tourist place. We were lucky to be there in off-season and enjoyed the monsoon with it ;-)
Despite putting all the other great Maharaja places in ashes, Akbar was supposed to be open minded, having women of three different beliefs and the entrance gate of the mosque quotes a saying from Jesus Christ.....
Another interesting part of the mosque is the white marble tomb of a saint, said to be able of bringing sons to a childless family. Even today women come here to put thread knots on the tomb for this reason.
A couple of years ago my sister visited this place, too, on her trip. I heard she did the same - but now she got already two sons.....I wonder how many threads she left there :-)
Fatehpur Sikri offers plenty of buildings, gardens and little palace to see, but one of the main architectural interests deserves the Public Audience hall. A beautifully decorated pillar supports the seat of the Mogul emperor and from that point, four bridges leave to the corners of the building, where supposedy the scholars or ministers stood.

The Phantom City - Fatehpur Sikri – India Part. 2
The Phantom City - Fatehpur Sikri - India
The city was founded in 1569 by Emperor Mughal Akbar. It was the capital of the Mughal empire between 1571 and 1585. All the buildings here were made of red stone. , Emperor Akbar decided to move his captain to Agra in a new location, 37 km. The Imperial Complex was abandoned in 1585 shortly after its completion, due to the depletion of the small lake that fueled the city with water and its proximity to the Rajputana, with which the Mughal Empire was often at war. . Fatehpur Sikri is one of the best preserved examples of Mughal architecture in India.
