Anvil Rock, Blue Mountains
A gorgeous day in the Blue Mountains showing the depth and expanse of the incredible area.
Blue Mountains Walks: Anvil Rock Blackheath NSW Australia - perhaps the best view in the mountains
PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!
This is a short walk to one of the best lookouts in the Blue Mountains. You stand atop an anvil shaped rock (with a real steel anvil fastened to it!) and look straight down into the Grose River gorge and across to Mt Banks. On a clear day you can see the tall buildings in the centre of Sydney. Not to be missed!
The approach is via Hat Hill Rd in Blackheath, the same route as for Perry's Lookdown. The road ends at a small picnic area close to the edge of the gorge.

What to do in Blue Mountains | Wind Eroded Cave & Anvil Rock | Blue Mountains National Park
Located at the end of Hat Hill Road in the Grose Valley, this weathered sandstone rock formation offers magnificent views over the Grose Valley to Mount Banks and Mount Hay.
The Lookout gets it's name from an anvil that was placed on the lookout in 1940. A wind eroded cave is just 400 metres to the west. Dirt road access for two kilometres. It is a ten minute walk from the carpark and Hat Hill Road has approximately eight kilometres of dirt access - however the view is well worth it.

Perry's Lookdown is reached by following Hat Hill Rd in Blackheath until it ends on the edge of the Grose Valley gorge.
It's easy to miss the other two lookouts at Perry's. All three have great views of the Grose Valley and the cliffs. It's well worth the drive out from Blackheath. There's also a small bush camping area there.

We walked from Kanangra Walls to the base of Mount Cloudmaker and camped overnight.
Blue Mountains National Park - Hanging Rock
This is my latest bush walk in the Blue Mountains last weekend and I think one of my best walks yet, the views were stunning.
Hanging Rock can be seen from Baltzer Lookout and is a 5.5km easy walk from Ridgewell Rd just past the town of Blackheath, NSW Australia. This is an unfenced area not recommended for children.

This is my second take on this video, because I lost a bunch of footage due to a hard drive crash, but discovered low res copies thumbing through the DJI app.
We had a night in the Blue Mountains staying at the Mountain Heritage hotel to celebrate my partner's birthday. Managed to take the Phantom along and get it up for a few minutes.
