On our second day in Ao Nand we took a long tail boat for 100 baht to get to Railay Beach, then we walked through an amazing cave over to Ao Phra Nang Beach. We were amazed by the huge limestone stalactites hanging down from the cliffs. The tropical setting makes it look like a scene straight out of Avatar.
I can highly recommend coming to this beach and exploring all of the little caves and viewpoints, the sunset is also amazing to watch because of all the little islands on the horizon.

Phra Nang Cave Beach is the southern strip of sand in Railay Bay.
Ao Nang - Pranang Cave Beach (Phra Nang) - 4K / UHD - (Krabi - Thailand)
Phra Nang: (shown as Pranang Cave Beach in local maps) a white sand beach, on the southern tip of the peninsula. Beach is 20 minutes away from Ao Nang by long-tail boat. It has a nice scenery and is a good swimming beach when the tide is high.
These videos are shot as I have seen them. There is minimum amount of processing with the material, to keep the video as authentic as possible. There is no music just the actual voices. Highly produced nice looking films can be found somewhere else. This is supposed to look true and raw. Videos have been shot with iPhone 6s plus and GoPro Hero 4 Black.

Phra Nang Beach is surrounded by stunning limestone cliffs and is located on the southern most tip of the Railay Peninsula, just south of West Railay.
Out of the four beaches within this peninsula this beach would have to rate as the best with calm clean waters.
The limestone cliffs that tower above the beachfront, provide shade from the hot sun.

Best Beaches in Thailand! Phra Nang Beach and Railay Beach
The best beaches in Thailand are BY FAR Phra Nang Beach and Railay Beach in Krabi Thailand! As you can tell from the video, we fell in love with Phra Nang and its beautiful Cave Beach. At Phra Nang Beach there's princess cave or Phra Nang Cave which is a cave full of penises. We had a giggle and then learned about the history and mythology surrounding the cave. People say that there is competition but Phra Nang beach is by far the most beautiful beach in Thailand.
If you are going to Phra Nang beach make sure that you take climbing gear because there is a huge cliff right next to Phra Nang cave that you can climb. Make sure that you make it Phra Nang Beach during low tide, because that will let you walk under the cliff side!

It's an awesome place for swimming (the cliffs shade the beach for a lot of the day and the beaches have views of the surrounding islands), kayaking and rock climbing. There are also some nice walks there for the adventurous - check out the lookout and the hidden lagoon in the mountain.
You can stay at Railay Beach or Railay Bay too, there are plenty of resorts and hotels there, as well as restaurants and bars.

We decided to take a long tail boat ride from Ao Nang to the famous Railay Beach, Thailand.
We were joined by some very special guests, Jack and Gab from Jack and Gab Explore.

On the day, we easily bought the boat tickets to Railay Beach from the kiosk on Ao Nang Beach which was 200 BHT per person, including return. We jumped in the Long Tail Boat and the ride from Ao Nang to Railay Beach was fun and surprisingly smooth. Railay Beach was packed even though it was only 10.30am. The water was right up leaving little room to get our tan on, so we decided to hike to Railay Viewpoint. Little did we know the huge task that was about to unravel infront of us!

Railay beach in Thailand is a popular day trip for tourists and travellers who want to take a long tail boat from Ao Nang. Thailand is a beautiful country with thriving cities and peaceful beaches. There is also a strong spirituality among the native people. It is a country full of legends, such as Phra Nang Cave.
Phra Nang is a beach with white sand and cool waters of the Andaman Sea. Some visitors are satisfied with lounging on the beach while admiring the beautiful scenery. Others wish to see the Phra Nang Cave and make offerings.
There are many legends surrounding the cave and the Princess Goddess Phra Nang. One legend states that Phra Nang was an Indian Princess who was killed at sea. It is believed that her ghost haunts the cave. Another story is that she was the wife of a fisherman. On one of his trips into the Andaman Sea he never returned. It is said that the wife lived for the rest of her life in the cave, waiting for his return.
The people who live off of the sea make offerings to the Goddess for good luck. However, the cave is known for the strange wooden phallic symbols. These carved penises are placed before the cave as offerings for fertility.
It is important to remember that this is a spiritual place for the Thai people. It must be treated with respect. Many of the locals strongly believe that the Goddess resides in the cave. Any disrespectful behavior will be deeply insulting.
Getting to the cave is not difficult. It is sometimes called The Princess Cave on maps. The beach can be reached with a quick boat ride from Ao Nang. There is a path that will take visitors around the base of a cliff, and then right to the beach.
The legend of the Phra Nang Cave is one of the many wonders of Thailand. This strange and mysterious country has some of the most beautiful scenery one will ever see. Experience all this intriguing country has to offer.
Am südöstlichen Ende des traumhaften Phra Nang Strandes (siehe Rai Leh / Railay) befindet sich die von Stalaktiten (und meist auch Touristen) umgebene Phranang Cave, auf Deutsch: Höhle der Prinzessin.
Angeblich wird hier eine alte, my(s)t(h)ische Fruchtbarkeitsgottheit verehrt, die sagenumwobene Seeprinzessin. Das erscheint durchaus glaubhaft angesichts der vielen Phalli in allen Größen und aus allen Materialien, überwiegend jedoch aus Holz geschnitzt, die von Girlanden umrangt im Eingang der äußeren Höhle (Tham Phra Nang Nok) teils adrett arrangiert, teils lieblos aufgestapelt zu bestaunen sind (heute sind mitunter auch Dildos aus Sexshops dabei).
Der Ursprung hat vermutlich zwei Wurzeln: Die animistische Verehrung des Phallus als Symbol und Garant für die Fruchtbarkeit und die buddhistische Adaption der (uralten und vielschichtigen) Symbolik des Lingam als (abstrakteste) Symbol und Idol für Shiva in der Form des Shivalingam, auf Thai: Siwaleung (ศิวลึงค์).
Nach der verheerenden Tsunami am 26. Dezember 2004 wurden die in alle Himmelsrichtungen fortgespülten Phalli Stück für Stück wieder zurückgebracht. Wo auch immer die sonderbaren Lingams gefunden wurden -- man wusste, wohin sie gehören.
Angeblich gibt es auch noch heute Fischer, die trotz des Jahrmarktcharakters der Stätte ihre Heiligkeit bewahren und regelmäßig Opfergaben erbringen.

After a wonderful Christmas in Phuket, we headed to Ao Nang, Krabi. The ferry ride over was short. We booked our ticket via Klook (link below), which included hotel pickup and dropoff. On our first day in Ao Nang, we chilled on Ao Nang Beach. On our second day, we enjoyed breakfast on Ao Nang Beach and then got a little adventurous and walked through the Monkey Trail on the south side of the beach, which took us to a less crowded resort beach.

We explain how to get to both Tonsai as well as Phranang Cave Beach from Railay Beach. We also compare all three the beaches to help you figure out which you would like to visit.
The main beaches in Krabi are pretty average, so if you are staying in Krabi I can't recommend a trip out to these beaches highly enough.
Important to note that the water to get these beaches are pretty choppy (our little one did a fair amount of crying because she was scared on the longtail boats with the bumpy ride). Once you are at the beaches, due to the fact that they are in a cove the water is pretty calm and great for kayaking though.
The walk through the rocks to get from Railay Beach to Tonsai Beach is also pretty challenging when you have a little one. So I would recommend that you either hire a little longtail boat to take you from the one beach to the other, or stick to Railay and Pranang Cave Beach (the walk there is easy and stroller friendly).
